frontier fr said, you guys are debating over hamadrya's and gsnm. So how about both of them!
Whilst I actually love the Arid pack, there are a few animals from elsewhere that do fit the theme perfectly. Examples such as: Patagonian Mara, greater bilby, desert bighorn, percentile, collared peccary, saiga and Pallas’ cat (the last 3 being species in or coming to the game).I know this was pages ago but people need to stop lying about this (or at least, you know, do two seconds of googling the animals).
The sand cat range extends all the way into Central Asia, and the Dromedary's range extends into Asia as well (Middle East). Sure, we missed out on something from Australia, but what the hell does anyone expect from the "Arid Animal Pack"? Seriously, I have yet to actually see anyone suggest a suitable species as a replacement that isn't still an African animal (such as the Hamadryas baboon). The only other one that ever came up was the Indian crested porcupine instead of the African, but it's functionally identical.
Anything else would have been incredibly niche, beyond perhaps the Persian onager or something, but then you'd all bemoan the fact that the pack contained two wild asses.
I love this pack man, its all I ever wanted. All I need is a GSNM, Domestic Yak and this is my #1 favorite pack of all time.I'm seeing a very similar pattern to earlier this year when barnyard was announced, people were extremely bitter towards the idea of this being the last pack only for weeks to pass by and realise it's not the last pack and gradually accept the pack as a decent addition to the game.
There were tons of "Arid" animal species. For insteance a lot of North american (desert big horned sheep, road runner, coyote, bobcat, burrowing owl), South american animals (patagonian mara, rhea, guanaco) and australia (bilby, Perentie, short beaked echidna).I know this was pages ago but people need to stop lying about this (or at least, you know, do two seconds of googling the animals).

This pack is going to be a Full Asian Pack then, its literally themed around a Tibetan High Ground Pack, looking like we are getting GSNM, Yak and Himalayan Monal is super high right now. There were tons of "Arid" animal species. You are mixing two complaints we had about the pack: one was that it wasn't a worldwide biome pack like Grasslands and Wetlands were, and a separete complaint was that even if they wanted to make an all african / middle Eastern pack at least it could have had some variety, and that's were hamadryas baboon, secretary bird (not really a fit imo) and spurred tortoise came up as suggestion for a more varied roster. There was also the fact that Arid was at the time the perfect pack for the baboon and a cobra/chameleon that were very requested and we got none haha
The pack itself was clearly meat to be an african / middle Eastern pack.
This does look like a really good pack that I would love, but I don't know mate. This upcoming pack could be Arid 2.0 but instead gives us actual diverse animals instead of a porcupine, a feline with ungulates.I'm really feeling that our last four are the following:
As for the exhibit? I'm not sure we will get one to be honest, a chameleon could certainly fit and would be a welcome addition but I think it is just as likely that we will see some Tibetan themed scenery or something similar to how Farmyard did it.
- Spectacled Bear (This is such a shoe-in its crazy, fits perfectly with the theme, bears are an instant hit, and that much awaited Latin American representation - it checks every box)
- Goodfellow's Tree-Kangaroo (Extremely popular and supported by the leaks, would add some tropical variation into the pack)
- Yak (We are almost certainly going to get another ungulate and apart from goats this is by far the most iconic mountain ungulate and it would be quite easy to make from the various bovines we already have)
- Himalayan Monal (Frontier has been pretty good with the birds recently, all three of the last packs have had at least one and here is a relatively popular mountain species that wouldn't be too difficult to adapt from the peafowl. In fairness this could also be another pheasant or something similar, either way I'm feeling we will get a fowl finally)
Honestly I'd be really happy with this lineup and I think it could be the best since Grasslands.

I mean it could but we don't really have much reason to believe that. I will be really surprised if we don't get the spectacled bear and the dictionary leak supports the tree-kangaroo which does happen to fit quite well into this pack. This does look like a really good pack that I would love, but I don't know mate. I'm feeling like this is an "Asian Animal pack"
This would be a great pack, although I am convinced of corroboree or lake Titicaca frogs as a mountains exhibitI'm really feeling that our last four are the following:

I think the addition of the Tree Kangaroo is very low, they probably are holding it back for the next pack after this so we have something that we want to buy.I mean it could but we don't really have much reason to believe that. I will be really surprised if we don't get the spectacled bear and the dictionary leak supports the tree-kangaroo which does happen to fit quite well into this pack.
Also its funny how I said the other day the only three animals I thought the leak actually strongly supported was the baboon, markhor and tree-kangaroo... and well we got two out of three with none of the other leaked animals in sight... And the one that happens to fit into this pack the most is the roo.![]()
Option D: Highlands Animal Pack [Arid Edition 2.0]I've been thinking about the dictionary and yesterday's news and the different options we could have:
Option A: Highlands animal pack
With the baboon, Markhor, Pallas's cat and tree kangaroo. That would leave out the Echidna, Secretary, Spurred tortoise, dikdik and Sifaka (all of these are found in shrublands, even the Sifaka although its main habitat are forests).
Option B: Old world animal pack
With the baboon, markhor, Pallas's cat, secretary, spurred tortoise, dikdik and Sifaka. That would leave out the echidna and tree kangaroo.
Option C: Zookeeper's collection animal pack
This is hard to imagine. There are 3 confirmed animals, but 6 candidates for 4 slots. And the lack of American species makes this less likely. The only way would be that this pack is a bigger one.
So my conclusion is that either we are getting at least 2 more DLCs or that the dictionary animals were put there to mess with us or because they were discharged options from old DLCs.
Regardless of my opinions on more pack after this one, it's almost impossible for us to know how profitable Planet Zoo really is because we're looking at the cumulative numbers.
- PZ is Frontier's most profitable game. Even the lesser DLCs (Arid/Barnyard) seem enough to make a profit. With some high demand species left, it would be stupid to not release more.
Honestly, we might be holding on way too much to the idea of a "Zookeeper's collection" pack than we should. Yes, JWE2 got one, but that's at the end of the day one single point of reference.Option C: Zookeeper's collection animal pack
