The point about the tree kangaroo name is pretty compelling. And TBH, I've never understood why there was so much demand for the Goodfellow over the Matschie...

From an aesthetic perspective, the Matschie's would look better in-game and it has the same conservation value. As for the current DLC, if we are in fact looking at a highlands/mountain theme, the Matschie's also seems to be more closely linked to that biome (relatively speaking, anyway).

Great. Back to feeling optimistic again... I want to get off this ride. It's making me dizzy.

Because it seems that in zoos in Europe and especially in Oceania, the Goodfellow's is the one that is most often kept.

Down here we say that "hope is the last thing to die" so even though it's veru implausible I will still check all social media at 8pm

My final prediction lineup (will not change until trailer release):

Highlands Animal Pack

1. Markhor
2. Hamadryas Baboon
3. Pallas Cat
4. Golden Snub Nosed Monkey (Sifaka doesn't live in highlands, will probably feature in an upcoming rainforest animal pack, for strong China sales)
5. Huon Tree Kangaroo (better fit for highlands than Goodfellow, plus a PZ song features the lyrics "Huon Montane")
6. Mountain Goat (for NA representation)
7. Yak (lots of color morphs, common in petting zoos, fits in well with the last pack/guests can pet them like the highland cow)
8. Chameleon (there are enough highland species, too iconic not to be in PZ)

Getting the golden snub nosed monkey would be so ironic...
We get our first monkey since Southeast Asia Pack (minus the baboon), and once again it's another Asian exclusive in terms or real-life captive presence

I love all hoofed things, but there's a limit to everything... If I see a guanaco or another goat besides the markhor I'm going to riot lmao

It's the age old Europe vs North America flamewar. Matschie's tree kangaroos are exclusively kept in North America, and Goodfellow's tree kangaroos are exclusively kept in Europe. Frontier is a British company (meaning Europe) so the zoos nearby to them would have Goodfellow's roos.

In planet zoo history similar battles were fought over ibex vs big horn sheep, Eurasian lynx vs Canadian lynx, fallow deer vs white tailed deer, etc.

I wouldn't hate the Yak its one of the few ungulates I would be ok with getting, but only if its the domestic one
