I wouldn't hate the Yak its one of the few ungulates I would be ok with getting, but only if its the domestic one

Hope your excited for the Yak, its obviously going to be in this pack if its a Mountain

To me it feels a bit too similar to the highlands cow... Not in terms of looks (well, at least vaguely) but mostly in terms of what niche they fill. We get two domestic cattle species, and that's fine... But both from a similar mountainous environment.
Still, I wouldn't hate it as much as I originally thought I would, plus it could be mixed with camels and maybe even markhor...

The camel we have has always been marked as the domestic one, as before South America pack launched it was our only domestic species

I think it's called "Bactrian Camel" (Camelus bactrianus) but I'll have to check

It was ferus since release. It might have been corrected to bactrianus as of the barnyard DLC.

Yeah that's why I wanted to check... I had this weird feeling that it might have been called C. ferus before

Now it's C. bactrianus though

I honestly just hope this pack isn't too heavy on ungulates.
I love all hoofed things, but there's a limit to everything... If I see a guanaco or another goat besides the markhor I'm going to riot lmao

In planet zoo history similar battles were fought over ibex vs big horn sheep, Eurasian lynx vs Canadian lynx, fallow deer vs white tailed deer, etc.

And guess who won every time

Yeah except for beaver, brown bear, wolf. And while na doesnt have big horn and lynx they got dall sheep and cougar.


So while yeah NA and eu also kinda have to fight over the animals they share and in the end only one of them gets a beaver for example, i think its pretty evenly split.
And does anyone really want spot taken up by european brown bear, and canada lynx?

Well you can argue that the wolf is the generic Grey wolf species so works for Europe. And the american beaver is the go to beaver for a zoo Game. There was no competition there.

With the bear the grizzly had to be in the roster, but they did u guys dirty including the useles and ugle HBB instead of the EBB, that's for sure.

And both of us lost the otter war. We have two tropical ones from Asia and South America, but still no cold otter for Europe or North America

But then you can argue that alpine ibex is also the go to species for zoo games.

In the end i think the approach they took when giving animals is the right one. Split the shared ones between and focus more on the ones they dont like armadillo, raccoon and boar

Zoo Tycoon 1 had the bighorn.

Another animal that i havent seen come up yet, but has a very real chance imo is the Japanese Serow.
They do live in the mountainous regions of the island and as far as ungulates go these look pretty different from the rest. And i think throwing japan another bone ontop of the macaque and crane so you can actually build a little section wouldnt be to bad.
