One of my favorites, but not essential by any means, especially compared to the spotted. Like many other animals here, I also don't want it taking up a DLC spot again though. Not because I don't like it, but because the way I view it each old animal in DLC means one less brand new animal we get, especially once we open the door to flyers and aquatics. That gets rid of the point of the game though and I definitely don't want it gone, so save for DLC. I'd just much rather get it in an update, though I'm not sure how realistic that is.

Which category does it fit into?
  • Essential for Planet Zoo 2 Base Game
  • Save for PZ2 DLCs/Deluxe
  • Doesn’t need to make it but sure
  • Can be left out entirely
Doesn't need to make it but sure.
Hear me out, I love this animal, BUT.
The boring Spotted hyena is a must as it is the most famous one, it needs a complete remake though, it is one of the most ugly models in the game currently.

BUT, instead of the Striped Hyena (while I wouldn't mind it returning or having both) I would like to see the scariest of all Hyena's, the one even lions fear, the Brown Hyena.

For me hyena's rank: Brown Hyena > Aardwolf > Striped Hyena > Spotted Hyena.

To be honest, I would rather have a completed Hyena family in PLanet Zoo 2, than a completed Bear family. I like all four Hyena, but there are a lot of bears I really don't care for.

Yes pretty much the same for me, I mean, I like it, it should be in the base game but I don't consider it essential

I'm ambivalent about the striped hyena personally. I'd put it in "doesn't need to make it but sure" but I can understand why people would want it as DLC or even base game.

Save for dlc. It may look better than the spotted hyena, but a lot of dlc animals are better than the original rosters, so I don't see that as an argument of choosing the striped over the spotted.

Save for DLC for Striped Hyena. Pretty common in zoos and tbh fills a different role than spotted, with a much larger range too.

Striped Hyena is one of my favorite animals and if PZ2 didn't have it at all I would consider the roster of PZ2 weaker than PZ. By the way, I personally want Frontier to keep working on PZ 1. I have no need of a sequel right now.

My placement of the Striped Hyena:
I put this one in "Doesn't need to make it but sure" but it could also be saved for a DLC, either one. The model looks good and would be a good pick for PZ2 seeing as its quality can already match the rest of the roster.

Essential, I feel that we need 1 kangaroo and 1 wallaby for the minimum australian representation. We can't repeat having basically no australian animals again.
