Animal #42 - Egyptian Fruit Bat
View attachment 413885
Which category does it fit into?
  • Essential for Planet Zoo 2 Base Game
  • Save for PZ2 DLCs/Deluxe
  • Doesn’t need to make it but sure
  • Can be left out entirely

While I recognize how important and groundbreaking having bats and the flight mechanic realized in PZ, I wished they would've gone with the straw-colored fruit bat instead of the Egyptian fruit bat. I've only used this species once for one of the campaigns and it didn't excite me.

I'm in the "Doesn't Need to Make It But Sure" camp.

Oh hey I missed a few of these.

North Island Brown Kiwi - Essential. This is my one selfish pick, kiwi for life.
Nyala - Doesn't need to make it but sure. There are just so many African antelope species and I can't say this one particularly excites me over others.
Egyptian Fruit Bat - I'll say bats in general are Essential, though it does not necessarily have to be this one.

I honestly think the Formosan black bear can stay, it's the game's representative for the Asiatic black bear and that's fine by me. I'd have the one bear excluded be the Himalayan brown bear (I doubt Frontier is gonna remove every animal species from the game for their sequel; I think it'll be a JWE2 situation). The titan beetle should also be excluded because they are not in captivity.

I also like the subspecies additions you came up with!
In my opinion, I think the Amazonian Giant Centipede, Dall Sheep, and Proboscis Monkey should stay. The centipede is an interesting addition to insect and other exhibit areas in zoos. The Emerald Tree Boa would be a great addition but I don't see a reason to replace the Amazonian Giant Centipede. The Dall Sheep is one of my favorite habitats in mountain regions. The mountain goat is less common in zoos, and I would prefer a Domestic or Wild Yak than the Mountain Goat. I have nothing against the languar, I find it adorable but the proboscis monkey is iconic with it's huge nose
