Do. It. Do. It. Do. It.

I am ready. Let's get the show on the road. And also this time with a story? A mystery perhaps. Search for information on future waypoints maybe? Written by drew wager no less. Oh I am so double triple ready.

I'm in!

When I started the game, I didn't know about DW1 AND DW2. After, I had some sort of regret for not being able to catch these expeditions.

However, I don't know English, I just read stories on YouTube and forums with the help of a translator and wanted to be a part of it. :)

I still want it.

If it's set, my asp is ready and I'm in!

More of my thoughts:

1. Regarding interest in large events - this is hard to say myself because I'm one person but I would be. A lot of the organization is what actually encrouaged me to stick with the effort of going into deep space. The CG and knowing it was coming helped a ton, so FDEV buying into this I think will be the "make or break" for whether DW3 is high key or low key.

2. How it would work is also going to depend on FDEV buy-in, and what other mechanics/changes happen in the meantime. Bare minimum, reinforcing the DSSA is something I think is a very worthwhile and achievable goal even as a lower key event. I'd no doubt want more, but it's a minimal starting goal and one we as players can do without heavy buy-in. For what I'd love to see - maybe a narrative where an organization has commissioned commanders to find and establish sites for a sort of "backup bubble" if the Thargoids return in force again.

3. Ah carriers, the jump capable elephants in the room. Having a few official carriers is a good way to help people with limited time or resources participate and have a support structure for expeds, but yes, having everyone bringing theirs is going to get messy fast. I'd also not be surprised if "hostile" groups brought carriers for contrary purposes or to just be in the way. On our own, even if we took the hardest line and banned anyone who brought an unofficial carrier, nothing would stop them from still being there, so this again is an area where we'll need to depend on FDEV stepping up and playing ball in some fashion to limit how many carriers can go near or around a POI.

I have been away from Elite for a while now, didn't even have a FC or a desire to grind for one. I have more interest in other games, and have a feeling GTA 6 might be delayed til Spring 26.

But, I was in both DW1 and DW2, both on Xbox. What has changed since then is I'm now on PC and learned to walk lol. Also probably gonna get the Mandalay. If DW is gonna go one more time, I'm in.

Sounds great! As someone who fell behind on DW2 due to real life, the idea of a carrier to bring along stragglers has some appeal.
This is a genuinely good use for an official carrier. Have one hang around at the prior POI to scoop up anyone who RL rear its ugly head at the wrong time.

DW2 holds a special place in my heart. It was the most memorable adventure I've had in my nearly 30 years of gaming.

My DW2 Krait Phantom is still there, unchanged for the past six years save for an upgraded pre-engineered SCO FSD. I can't wait to dust it off, have an adventure, and apply some DW3 decals to it!

I will also pledge to leave my FC at home in order to recreate the DW2 experience in spirit and help alleviate the issues that come with FC overload. Hoping more CMDRs will do the same.

DW2 was one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. Although I didn't partake in most of the events I loved the detailed itineraries and once I discovered the group jumps at the start of each leg they became a highlight for me. I'll be there for DW3.

I like the idea of having some designated carriers but the whole point is the journey not the destination. Just my humble opinion of course

Yes - Especially if FDEV expands exploration by adding never seen alien POIs (unknown ships, ruins, relics, etc), astronomical POIs (comets, cataclysmic stars and occasional supernovas, black holes with more dangerous and visible event horizons, expanded atmospheric worlds), and new mysteries far from the bubble. I think FDEV expansion in exploration combined with DW3 would be beneficial for everyone involved.

The lift door hissed open, and Penny limped over to the hanger bay entrance. A shape, bulky and brutal, and garishly painted loomed above. The Slasher of Veils, Federation Gunship, proudly bore it's Distant Worlds 2 decals. But the technology that had powered her all the way to Beagle Point and beyond was old now, outstripped by development in the Bubble. The Bubble and it's engineers was a long, long way from the Void, with a painful grind for resources at the end of the journey, but... Distant Worlds 3?

"Wake up old girl" whispered Penny "it's time to fly".

Count me in.

I would like to see a CG to establish a new colony at Beagle Point, or maybe one of the nearby systems with an Earth-like: Podar (MYEIA THAA ZE-R d4-0) or Thomaski's System (SLAIYOOE OX-L D7-0) perhaps?
