One thing I want on my FDev Christmas wishlist is Galmap 2.0. I'd love to be able to specify more than one filter, the option to keep the realistic appearance when using filters, for example, when flipping the filter to M-Class, being able to visually see which are red dwarf and which are red giant, since they are both class M. In fact the ability to be able to refine which class would be nice all together, as well as the ability to filter by civilization (or none) with these filters selected.

I would love this too. And I kinda miss the old gal map tbh. When 4.0 launched it sorta messed up searching for things.

It's been sitting there scanning. It originally had the planets name. Not to mention it is a Pilots federation system. Not SD. Primus b is a bit of a trip. I wonder if the system has rouge planets. Ok nvm. I'm an idiot it's the place that has all the kickstarter names.

Ah yeah the good ol day. I like to watch old "Elite - First Time" videos from 2014/ 2015 to remember what that felt like. I started out in Eranin and shortly after lost site of what home system I started in and when I wanted to re-find it one day everything was about LHS 3447 and I kept going "no, this is not where I started..." I figured the OG starting system was just a test area they removed (having known nothing about the lore/ old systems) and just re-watched one of those old videos and was like "AHA! That's where I started!" lol Yeah the map was very different back then.

I miss the spooky old frameshift passage to systems. Now its boring nd blehhh. Before you had weird lights and sounds twist and turns scaring the crap out of you before exiting jump. It felt exciting. They brought it back for a tiny bit with fleet carriers but now those got changed and its blehh.

Tried a little experiment today just to rule out any sneaky double meaning in the CG description. The CG says it is "calling for pilots to scan locations around the core systems"
Seeing as there is a Core Sys Sector, I went through all 177ish systems today and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. All systems with bodies present had already been completely mapped so there would be a very low chance of any strange objects being missed.

I mean it could just be a ploy to get everyone to scan systems.
imo , there is always a method to their FDev madness. Although some might say the "madness" is actually caused TO the community. :cautious:

Some related intel from another thread here--> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...y-initiative-exploration.633408/post-10540912

Does anybody know which version of RR Drakks was using? Is it the one he linked in his original thread? Because he mentioned stopping around the Arietis/ Capricorni itinerary but I don't see Arietis listed anywhere in RR. Not on any of the 700 entries. So my best guess is he ended somewhere around here, which makes sense taking into consideration a small jump drive.

i posted you the link to his "new" version a couple days ago here--> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/the-quest-to-find-raxxla.168253/post-10540221 but i think you might've missed my post or somethin' i dunno.
Anyways, according to that ^ link within, his new exact quote is: " I used a road to riches from edtool.cc "
( *according to his original post , it was this--> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/the-dark-wheel-hidden-station.632622/page-2#post-10525796 )

ah hell with it I'm going to scan the Arietis region.

Well, Raxxla is obviously very well hidden. So the fact that all bodies have been scanned (& maybe mapped, though since it's been in-game since the gamma I don't think that'll be relevant) in any system is, I suspect, totally immaterial. If Raxxla is hidden as an apparent asteroid in a planetary ring it will not be detected by normal scanning. I think you need to be in the right place and scan the **** out of it before it will reveal itself.

It is possible that FD may use the current CG to point us at Raxxla, or TDW station (if it exits in-game; I'm sceptical), or possibly a different mystery entirely...possibly one that won't be introduced into game until 26th Feb!!

Do we know if this cluster of stars were colored or anything type of different in legacy ?

*it's near Titan Indra.

I believe Raxxla is within the bubble.

The new CG is evidently a narrative warm up and contextual back story for the new update, but there’s really no need to actually engage with it because the update will occur irrespectively.

It’s plausible it’s pointless but it’s more probably it’s intended to prod us into action and focus attention in this area.

It’s possible some noob will just fall over it. Yes the potato hunt was extensive, but it wasn’t robust and thorough, and so it could have fallen shy of the target…

Know where I’d look.

So here's what I'm thinking. A clusters of red giants is likely a cluster of orange giants. I find these concentrated in Capricorni and Arietis. The best grouping however is adjacent (not in) Capricorni, within the Ceti sector. Just before the Ceti sector is a smallish strip of Piscium sector and then it's right into Arietis. They orange giants are unmistakable, in that they are so big, soft and fuzzy.

Concerning red giants? Anytime I look at a red giants, it is using the same icon as a red dwarf, with exception to notable red giants, like Betelgeuse. Otherwise? They look exactly like red dwarfs on the map, so in order to tell if it's a red giant you have to click on each and every red dwarf you see... Not something you would easily observe without clicking on each and every one.

The other thing? Drakks felt he was 20-30ly (8-10) from Fomalhaut. This automatically makes Arietis a bit too far at its closest point, but you know what isn't too far? Alrai Sector...and you even have a few of the funny named Capricorni systems there (XI-2 Capricorni, 63 G. Capricorni 31 G. Capricorni, Rho Capricorni...).

Arietis 'would' make more sense because there are two titans in the region and the Jameson crash site, but it's too far based on being 8-10 hops out from Fomalhaut. What do you guys think? I might check Alrai out. Although there is almost no orange giants there that I can see. There are several in Arietis.

Attached is a picture of the most significant cluster of orange giants I've seen. Mostly within the CETI sector and spilling a bit into the Capricorni side. If just above these, you are about 15 eco jumps away from Fomalhaut. The next most significant giants are in Arietis but they would be more like 20-30 eco jumps from Fomalhaut. More, in a stock hauler.

That is a really good look at things. I was just curious if the stars had a different map hue. cause back then they admited they got the star colors wrong with types so i was wondering if they were red or redish at one point and they mistaken the small cluster below sol as the possible area. I am almost done checking out all of Arietis and around Arietis so i'll move on towards empire space.

-I am wondering if they ever ventured near guardian space outskirts cause thats full of red stars that always get bypassed and left undiscovered. The time period they Supposed found it we got hints of guardian stuff but nothing physical until like a year or 2 later down the road until the starship 1 incident by galnet back when they were introducing horizons.

* not gonna lie it feels like finding a needle in the ocean * If Said needle exist.

Well? I think I'm done...again (x5) lol
May do another light session of exploring Synuefe again tomorrow. Not for Raxxla but because the systems (namely the HIP ones) are so much more interesting and haunting there, and there's a lot of unmapped stuff.

I think I've worked myself to the point where I don't even know which sectors to search; Core? Arietis? Alrai? Capricorni? I've pretty much come full circle, to the idea that it can pretty much be anywhere but most likely nearer to the Bubble. Which side of the Bubble? Who knows. At one point we were certain it was near Capricorni, but then new details suggested that Capricorni was much too far out for 8-10 jumps out from Fomalhaut. Arietis is also much further than 8-10 eco jumps out from Fomalhaut. My guess? A colonizer will find it at some point anyway.

I can only put myself through this aggressive search every 1-3 years and then I fizzle out. Going to go pick on some Thargoid Interceptors in the Pleiades at some point this weekend though. If they're still spawning there, post-war.

Don't worry--it's not the end. We do this in cycles. The thread quiet a newcomer my come and spark a little discussion again... Except when I actually get the "search bug?" Everything feels like a fresh lead again 😆

I honestly dont care about being the first to find it - Just an ease at mind we aren't all insane following a nothingburger. * the mystery is exciting * I've always had a weird hunch something might be hiding around jackson's lighthouse or within it. Or now that pilots federation system I came across yesterday. So those are going to be my focus points for a few days. o7 cmdr. "Maybe one day we will meet at a cg that takes us to a new galaxy server. (since the game's launch there's always been a rumor they have a spare server just sitting there doing nothing with a hand crafted galaxy waiting to be discovered and connected to the milkyway galaxy) - but rumors are rumors and until someone finds something its best to be cozy at home and enjoy space as it is with my animal co pilots by my side. * I havn't given up on that comms array. Going back to that sunday.

Mmm, just gotta find that Pendent World...

Easy, just need to find a moon with four trees!! 😁

If everything works as players expect. If FDev introduces a new POI ('Mysterious Metal Structure', say) plants some on half a dozen systems NOT scanned during the CG, and then announces them as found during the CG, and and they turn out to provide some scrambled data readouts ... that would probably be enough for all practical purposes. Unless I misunderstand something.

So the Dark wheel toast if it is to be interpolated as directions to find the way to Raxxla. As in we start our journey by finding the first line of the toast, the jewel and then onto the siren etc.

perhaps we may have misinterpreted it?

“To the jewel that burns on the brow of the mother of galaxies! To the whisperer in Witchspace, the siren of the deepest void!”

Do these two lines need to be read back to front, meaning we need to go to the siren of the deepest void to see the jewel.

If this madness is anything to go by, then I must say I’m slumped to find the siren, but as for the jewel that burns on the brow of the mother of galaxies. Pilots of Early interstellar travel may have only had the galactic skyline as points of reference, using galaxies, nebula and distant bright stars as navigation references.

I feel a treasure hunter would refer to the mother as a big thing rather than a philosopher who would think of it more deeply. The closest galaxy seen from our milky way is the Andromeda Galaxy, she has a jewel cluster ngc205. Our target point?

But sirens… I’m thinking star signs

I don’t think Orion qualifies as a siren, but Rigal one of its brightest stars sits on the edge of the witch head nebular, and the witch head nebular is located near the Eridanus Super void.

Hey and here is a crazy thing… Rigal - Andromeda -X go through, -X come out of into Lft 509 (went through a doorway that is also a key, unlocked permit. Then the rest of the toast to A- arrival.

Oh the Tin foil

By the way I did a 2ly super cruise from Rigal towards Andromeda and found nothing (maybe should have gone deeper?). However, I’m looking for more R’s. perhaps next Epsilon Eridani, proper name Ran
