Hot takes for planet zoo

Of all the “birds of prey” the condors and largest vulture species I think could work as habitat animals. They are very heavy for birds, and I have seen them clipped in open air habitats too.

(Also if we add the enrichment items to add flying they would work perfectly)
Also not to copy paste again, but these are the “birds of prey” I think can work in game with little to no changes needed:
  1. Secretary bird (duh)
  2. Burrowing owl
  3. Andean condor
  4. California condor
  5. Griffon vulture
And to be honest these are the birds I chose for my “final bird dlc idea”. Bare minimum we could get a perch and some nest stands, then they would work 100% perfectly even without flying.

Also I want to remake this in Planet Zoo:

For me, the only hoofstock specifically that the game has a strong need for at this point is
  • Blackbuck
  • 1 additional deer(preferably a SA/Asiatic deer - I'd choose Pudu or Pere David's)

I'd put the rest in the "nice to have" category that depends heavily on how many more open animal slots remain in PZ.
  • Musk Ox
  • At least 2 more African Antelopes (Kudu and Eland are my choices)
  • 2 more deer - 1 being the highly requested Elk and the other filling the other SA/Asiatic deer slot not previously filled.
  • 1 more caprine - even though some say we have too many - but an Aoudad, Bighorn Sheep or Chamois would round the roster out
  • 1 more Asiatic species such as Nilgai, Gaur, Serow or even an oddball like Saola

I still fail to see how another deer is a strong need.

Here's more hot takes:

I don't understand why everyone wants the Blackbuck over the Nilgai. They're both Asian antelope and the Nilgai looks far more unique in my opinion. Even though the Blackbuck is an Asian antelope, it looks very similar in appearance body-shape wise to African antelopes which we already have a bunch of in the game.

Also I don't think we need any more African antelope with the exception of the Waterbuck (because it looks like a deer. Although we do already kind of have the Nile Lechwe for that sort of), any species of duiker (because they look like small deer. Zebra Duiker is my personal preference), or Gerenuk because their necks are hilarious/weird looking.

That one i agree on, i think the nilgai would be they way more interesting addition to pz.
I think the blackbuck has the zt nostalgia going, and its fits the "filler asian hoofstock" niche better

Personally is because the blackbuck is one of my favorite antelopes, right after the greater kudu. I think they are beautiful.

Nilgai might be more unique looking but they look weird to.me and don't have a need for them at all.

My point is that Asian or SA deer having no rep ends up being a stronger need than any of the other "nice to haves" I have on that list.

I will admit I just really love the Blackbuck specifically. But I'll concede that adding Nilgai over Blackbuck, while being less popular, would still fill that niche. So I could see adding Nilgai next to the Blackbuck as an either/or would work.

While i think NW monkeys are higher priority i still think the fact that we dont have a stereotypical monkey for either africa or asia is just really sad.
Yeah we got a couple, but theyre all specialized in some way, macaque being the snowy one, mandrill being huge, proboscis as the weird and rare oddball. Baboon comes closest, but still doesnt fill the niche of just a normal monkey like a guereza, vervet or rhesus macaque would.
To me its like if all we had for antelopes were the saigas and generuks out there, and im really still yearning for the kudus and blackbucks of the monkey world

Hot take question (cuz i have no patients rn and i'm bored at work): what are the boring animal picks that you think would cover some gaps in the roster and that you actually want for the game?

For me would be:

  • South american bird: greater rhea
  • African monkey: vervet monkey
  • Indian monkey: grey plains langur
  • More southamerican fauna: brazilian tapir, ocelot and guanaco.
  • African croc: nile crocodile

I want to add large Savannah antelope for eland and kudu.

  • Shetland ponies to round out petting zoos
  • Nilgai are my preferred choice of Indian savanna antelope over blackbucks (which wouldn't be bad picks at all)
  • Asian forest tortoises and Bolson tortoises are a nice way to help flesh out the non-avian reptile roster
  • Argentine Black-&-White Tegus give the unique niche of a non-monitor squamates (that should've started with the 2 iguanas but I digress)
  • I'd much rather get Andean flamingos than the American flamingo for better habitat and taxonomic contrast with the greater flamingo
  • Jentink's duiker to show an underrated subfamily/tribe of antelope
  • Giant couas are nice for Malagasy fauna that isn't a mammal

I wouldn't call any of those picks boring though haha they are all pretty unique... Well maybe andean flamingos and the tortoises, but still. They are almost all pretty much oddballs that's for sure.
