DLC 19 Speculation

If it was those four species plus an exhibit animal? I'd go with my long-wanted "Parks & Gardens" pack. Those four habitat species and a new exhibit animal (probably a salamander or toad of some sorts; maybe a fish species if they're feeling spicy) plus 150+ pieces of garden-ready shrubs, trees, and flowers; slate path and puddle/ground water decals; new planters, gardening tools, and clutter; garden decor (e.g., smaller mushrooms, garden gnomes, a small Bernie Goodwin statue, smaller various wildlife statues and quirky garden decorations); flexicolor leaf clutter, grass, and mulch patches and piles; and a new clapboard wall set (excuse: gardening shed blueprint!)

Free update would provide a null option for exhibit walls; 2 new educational items (relatively 'null' with some additional scenery items to decorate them with); new countryside rock wall barrier with rubble scenery items; 3 new butterfly species; the Viva Vegan food shop; ability to customize item names in restaurant and shop menus; updated flexicolor options for Barnyard pack fencing and all original wall/roof sets; and null text signs. Low-hanging fruit that would make the update feel loaded (and provides a number of things that have been highly-requested for a while -- most of which map to the theme of the pack).

Gimme all the clapboard!

I'm not sure that it feels likely. I don't think we'll be getting a region pack... But if we do? Yeah, something linked to South America (or the Americas more broadly) feels reasonable and most likely for all the regions.
I unironically think a Garden animal pack could do really well for multiple reasons

roster potential
  • European rabbit
  • mallard
  • groundhog
  • common hedgehog
  • Australian white ibis
  • Virginia opossum
  • koi

this pack would be the perfect opportunity to add multiple highly requested groups such as water fowl, lagomorphs, small mammals and potentially birds and koi. The pack could represent all sorts of locations and climates without feeling off theme and having the scenery half being dedicated to new plants planters and statues would be incredible.

And the malayan tapir update! It almost felt like the update brought a brand new animal.
It was very appreciated but for me it was no update, it was a long overdue quality fix. People paid for an Malayan Tapir but never got one until then.
Finally fixing the donkey sounds would be the same for me. I do hold Frontier to a standard when it comes to paid content. Fixing mistakes and low quality is no gift.

That's fair but at the same time they could just have ignored it, so a plus for me.

Even after saying I think an Americas/ Latin America pack is likely, there is still that part of me that feels like Frontier is gonna surprise us.

Like I can honestly see Frontier doing a “Surprise! It’s the Coastal Pack” and then later in the year do the Latin America Pack. Kind of like what they did in 2024. Do one long requested pack theme, then provide the animals the community has been asking for awhile. Or maybe they do the reverse.

I don’t know, part of me wants to get excited but another part of me is worried I’m gonna be disappointed. All I know is I couldn’t predict what themes were coming next in 2024.

gags
I mean no offense, but this is legitimately the most boring pack idea I've ever seen. I'd actually prefer the Barnyard Animal Pack over this.

I mean, this kind of pack can be way more diverse than this. For example you could sneak in the SA coati, red legged seriema, B&W tegu and a marmoset as they are "garden" animals in south America. (You could also sneak thing like lions and rhinos, but that's a talk for another day)

I does have 2 birds, 2 rodents and fish, which are all very underrepresented groups in the game. I don't know why everyone is acting like this is the worst idea ever?? (I like basically all options you gave tho!)

It's not bad, i just find it very north (in the global sense) centric, if it need to be more interesting add the coati in the place of the opossum and a monkey instead of the groundhog and it would be both more balanced and interesting.

The only rodent there is the groundhog. But anyways, I think the pack is just okay. I don’t hate it, it’s as functional as the theme permits, the theme just seems super lacking. When I’m making zoos, I don’t care to think about animals I can find in my Canadian sub-urbs (ex. rabbits, ducks, opossums, groundhogs, foxes, skunks, raccoons). I’m always looking to reach out, and that’s why the ibis appeals to me the most.
That said, the koi would make this DLC pack pretty much mandatory for modders and mod users.

Most of us are trying to find a specific theme that could work for the next DLC, but it's possible that the next pack follows the idea of the Zookeper pack and has a generic theme. I wouldn't mind if we get something random like a global animal pack:

1) Blackbuck (Asia - the ungulate of the pack)
2) Squirrel/Howler/Spider moneky (South America - the primate of thew pack)
3) American black bear (North America - the popular reskin of the pack)
4) Echidna (Australia - the "weird or more unique" animal of the pack)
5) Alpine marmot (Europe - the not-so-popular yet still sometimes requested animal of the pack)
6) Secretary bird (Africa - the bird of the pack)
7) Walrus (Arctic - the star of the pack)

Honestly I think a garden pack could work, I think you just need something more exotic. I think incorporating more walk through habitats into it could be a good idea. So kind of like how the barnyard pack incorporated new species for the petting zoo feature, I imagine this pack would have animals that are also safe for people.
  1. Squirrel monkey 🌟
  2. Greater rhea
  3. Patagonian mara
  4. Muntjac
  5. Golden pheasant
  6. Mandarin duck
  7. Muscovy Duck
So now you have a bunch of new animals, exotic enough to appeal to most people, that can also give some mixed habitat walk through options. Just add on to that some new flowers, grass, shrubs, and trees and I think you would be doing pretty good.

Coatis are garden animals in Brazil?
