Elite Dangerous | System Colonisation Claims Unpaused

obviously just imo but...... imo it's a bit rich saying I don't share my info with 3rd party sites ..... whilst then using 3rd party dates and taking the data gifted by others

again to each their own but if that were me I would personally not admit that publicly.
not sharing data with 3rd party sites of course is absolutely fine and I commend anyone for going it alone... but if that were me I would feel cheap using them as well if I wasn't gonna share. seems not in the spirit of it

Inara did not update the systems, that are (again) the players. They scan the system and send their data to Inara, EDSM and co. Why are you friends not supporting the player base by delivering data to the third parties sites?
Why should i care about 3rd party sites? They are not the game, i don't need them.
Why are we here to support Inara?
Laughable frankly.

How is it possible that a system that was unclaimable over the weekend due to no available colonisation contacts within the required distance can suddenly have been claimed due to a nearby system that was under construction over the weekend suddenly coming online? A system under construction can not come online until the weekly server tick right?

Nope it comes online for use as a claim provider as soon as all materials are delivered.

Bulkheads groan, a metal dirge. Power failing, lights flicker, urge. Time bleeds, a countdown's cruel sting. Racing to complete colonization while ship interior moans.
This brought a tear to my eye. Such poetry. A work for our times. Does Frontier have an official Makar? I vote OldCrow! o7

Greetings Commanders,

Thank you for your patience following our pause of the Colonisation Contact to allow us time to investigate the issues being reported. We have made some adjustments and are preparing to turn this Colonisation Contact back on.

Please be advised this is part of a load test of the live Beta, and we intend to monitor how the system behaves. We will keep you informed if the situation changes again.

Thank you for your continued feedback, reports and support.
Hi,

can you please pause the Colonisation again, since it breaks the game. Since the feature is back half day I get kicked out within minutes for several hours and today I can not get into the game with Orange Sidewinder and when I finally get inside it is unplayable since the picture jerks like at a frame per second, VR is not working at all and every keystroke takes a second to respond. Yesterday at least I could play for a minute today nothing.

that is strange. after some initial crashes in the early hrs of Saturday morning UTC) I found it fairly stable. I admit I was (rare for me) not playing in VR

@Paul_Crowther
There are a few inhabited systems close to the bubble, but with no Colonization Contact.
What happens when we reach them, will they become part of the BGS and will they get a Colonization Contact as well?

Colonization enables toxic behavior!

I personally haven't had to deal with it. But seeing my friends and other my community players deal with the problem of "sniping" systems is getting worse and worse.

People want to colonize systems, but problem with the whole colonization is the limitation of 16ly range. There for so called "bridge systems" needs to be built. Sometimes if there is system, what someone wants, is couple of bridge systems away. They built the outposts and when they are one system out, being ready to deposit final materials. There is already someone hiding in solo - ready to "snipe" the high value system. People do the all the work, so others can take the glory.

I seen so many times now with my friends who work as team to build their way to some system, do not get the system, as someone was 5 seconds faster ???
Wasting valuable time, credits and materials. One might even argue, that this might be even exploiting the game.

This is getting more and more ridiculous!

Solution is simple:
  • Use the same behavior, what Fleet Carriers have. When they have docking set as none.
  • When first colonization outpost / station is finished colony owner is only one, who can dock on it, use the services.
  • They can claim next system using Colonization contacts.
  • They have ability to enable the outpost / station.
  • If they enable the outpost / station , other players can dock on it (cross modes)
  • Now if in some reason outpost / station was built and owner was not around or did not enable the outpost / station. There is some sort of countdown, what auto enables the outpost / station by itself. This way we do not end up outposts / stations what are not enabled.
  • Now if there is other players who want the system, it is totally fine to build different "bridge system" paths to final destination. Call it some sort of "race". But then it is fair game with everyone.

This seems to be best solution to stop the whole "sniping problem". If we do not act on it, it will sadly cause more harm long term on community and on game.
Just maybe, the way colonisation has been set up as intentional.

It may be that the intention is for systems close to the existing bubble to be claimed and developed first. It may be that first come, first served acts as a disincentive to daisy chaining and leaving underdeveloped systems behind.

Hi :)

I am about 80% complete on a Coriolis started yesterday and happy to help a good cause once done
I'm building an outpost station (2nd System claim) presently, I'm proceeding well so it shouldn't take me long to complete. In the meantime if I can help with your own system claims stations builds just PM me and let me know, I'd be glad to help.:)

Jack :)

Whoever built Candle and Lantern in Lalande 25224, its hilarious. Lantern is rotating so fast I doubt anyone can land on it; and the orbits overlap so every time you try to land on Candle you get walloped by Lantern and thrown a couple of MM's away again. Its like a fairground ride.
