On-foot PvP loadouts?

Is a G5 AR-50 good enough vs shield in PvP (unlike PvE, a player would not stand still while under fire...)?
So leading with a quick salvo from the Tormentor or a shield breaker grenade and being able to track a target?
Drawing a combat out to encourage energy preservation?
Waiting for them to stand still next to the power point?
Always ways to turn the tables...

Saying that because, from my experience at a medium CZ, it would take the entire magazine of a G3 to go through the shield.

from what i've seen, they mostly use Aphelion+Karma AR-50, less often 2x Karma L-6. AI-npc needs some work, they often run past and don't see

The point of Felix was to use only the AR-50, no Aphelion due to single primary slot on a Maverick.

As for dual rocket launchers, does that even work in PvP, outside the element of surprise?

obviously in pvp - no, it's not effective. i've seen cmrs with such weapons (2xL-6), it's also useful in cart defense missions

for Maverick consider this option : TK Zenith ( ~︎ Greater Range, ︎ Scope,︎ Stability, ︎ Faster Handling ) + Karma AR-50 ( ~︎ Stability, ︎ Faster Handling , ︎ Reload Speed ,︎ Magazine Size )

I think I might add you to my contact list...and ensure I am on your side while doing CZ's.
You are scary ;)

no, manual reloading is faster, it makes sense to use it with 2x L-6, it works well there. ︎( Magazine Size ︎, Stowed reloading ︎, Faster Handling ,︎ Audio Masking )
Man, learning something...guilty, I did not do any practical field comparison of the time needed for a quick reload vs switching weapons.

So, stowed reloading is good when you can switch between weapons of the same damage type, otherwise faster reload is better?

only for L-6 and possibly for Manticore Executioner, for other weapons it is either useless or even harmful (because it does not act instantly when placed in a holster, but it takes a few seconds to activate, which can be harmful in pvp)

My thought was that, while it automatically self-reloads in your pocket, you can use another weapon, then switch back to it.

yes, that's true, but to reload the weapon needs to lie in the holster for a few seconds, if you grab it again before this time is up - it will be unloaded, which is obviously bad in pvp

Any thoughts on dual Aphelion+ stowed reloading + faster handling, for constantly firing a hit-scan weapon at your opponent?
And have as a secondary a Tormentor or P-15?

To recap:
Aphelion/Eclipse/Zenith for shields.
AR-50/C-44-P-15 for armour.

Executioner + Tormentor is my go to. In a Maverick.

To put things in perspective from my experience,

4 G5 Executioner/Tormentor hits will take down the toughest targets usually.

With a G5 Aphelion or AR-50 you end up pumping lots of rounds at the target for the desired effect and really do burn through ammo. As well as having to be around and not shot at by other enemies to achieve a kill.

With a double L-6 loadout, once again you burn through ammo.

For intense Aphelion/AR-50/L-6 usage, extra ammo capacity on a suit should be considered.

A weapon not considered already, is a map of the environment you are fighting in, so you know where the recharge points/packs, ammo crates and medkits are located. Sometimes, doors will be locked, so using a Maverick could be a bonus. Oh, and some buildings have one door open and another locked.

You should have left the first paragraph out of your OP. High CZs are best done not with some pvp build but a pve build (surprising?): twin Launchers and tormentor or p-15 sidearm. (and it is not difficult but significantly more so than medium pve CZ).

As it always seems to be: build for pve and pvp separately.

Well, the same applies to space combat.
Yet, I only fly PvP capable builds, and still make it (too) easily within the top 25% without even insisting.

My thoughts w.r.t. high vs medium is that the medium ground CZs already feel too easy to me with G3 gear without mods. So pretty sure my coming G5 gear fully modded will be overkill for high CZs, whatever the loadout I end up using.

for pvp, I don't think so, it's better to use: Aphelion\AR-50\Tormentor, it's not by chance that it's a pvp meta (because usually pvp takes place at medium distances, if of course the players are smart enough not to abuse jumps and shields, which immediately unmask them). There's another difficulty here: this pvp still needs to be found, earlier players could be found in Iah Bulu, also in some rare CG. PVE High-CZ are also easy to complete on G3 equipment and very easy on G5 even without modifications, the most difficult pve missions are "cart defense", there you can test your equipment.

I have done mainly PvE, rarely have I encountered another CMDR and the majority of the PvP out of that small number has been consensual.

I believe that a lot of the PvP CMDRs consider headshot an essential mod.

Unless fighting in an inactive settlement, there will be a dozen NPC combatants on each side of a CZ who are still as much a threat as a CMDR.

Thanks for mentioning/confirming the meta. I will definitely engineer that (I just finished unlocking all engineers in the bubble yesterday).

Indeed, I did meet other players at the CG in Chi Eridani 3 weeks ago, and it was fun! Hopefully we get another one of this kind soon.

Noted for the cart defense mission, I will try to find some to practice my loadouts.
