Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Hi All :)

Today's maintenance took place as normal, in addition to what happened yesterday.

I'm still mooching around finding new systems and planets to spray paint my name on. What I'd really like, though, is to find some NSP. Haven't seen any in quite some time.

I suppose I oiugt to research where they're mot likely to pop up.

Hi :)
'NSP'?....

I'm happy to see a bit of comedy value exists in ED

:D There's quite a few mission and npc characters names I've come across that nearly always make me smile.

But it was grande idea and an upright suggestion...... shall I quit while I'm ahead?

...no comment!

What am I up to...I'm finding it quite difficult to be at the computer while the weather is so good at the moment. I didn't have a good sleep last night (I inexplicably suffer from insomnia over the last couple of years) so I finally got out of bed (bleary eyed) around 10am this morning, also realising I've also got a 'summer cold' and an infuriatingly itchy nose 🤧 . Then watered stuff in the greenhouse and I plan to transplant some vegy plants from there into the garden some time this afternoon / evening.

What am I up to in the game....🤔... Well, I've just checked one of my two stations (Coriolis) after the recent update and this is what's happened....
Commodity output has changed from (Colony) hydrogen & bio waste to Extraction, which is kinda logical as the stations orbiting a HMW with an atmosphere, but not landable, but unfortunately It's lost it's shipyard. I'd parked a ship there as the ship icon obviously showed up on the galaxy map which made the station easier to distinguish (although bookmarked as well) and highlighted it more plainly as being one of my player built stations.
What's interesting is that the ship initially docked there (Python Mk2) was moved by the game's update to an adjacent systems space station with a shipyard!...yeah, that's logical I suppose but I've now got to work out how to get the shipyard back. Plus the station still hasn't got a cartographic facility. 😖

There's some new useful commodity's there though, and in some reasonable quantities (palladium, gold, silver etc.) but unfortunately no steel.
I suppose I'll just have to persevere with searching for some solutions on the forum etc. as even though there's more information from Frontier now I'm still finding it confusing, and I don't want to build another station or facility without fully understanding which build is going to be the most useful.
I haven't physically checked (by docking there) the other station that's been built (Outpost). That originally had some useful commodities in quantity, but I suspect that's changed. That will be my mini mission now, so off I'll go in my Carrier. :)
Interesting stuff surrounding the Panther Clipper....I must admit, I didn't think it would be revealed in the live stream yesterday, I was convinced it would be some other ship or vehicle. It will be also interesting to find out some more information on it that gets slowly revealed as it goes through the final development stages.

Hi :)

Just saw your posts after I finished posting mine...:)

So, how about that Panther Clipper, eh? You excited?

Yes, it's definitely going to be in my personal fleet of ships...though...

I'm not sure... I'll reserve judgment until the specs are released :D

And I also agree with Tyres, what it eventually has in specifications will have some bearing...but ach!....I'll be honest here, I'll be buying one with credits or maybe ARX regardless!

NSP
Notable Stellar(?) Phenomenon

Things like Lagrange Clouds or Space Molluscs

Ah!...gotcha, thanks. :)

Is it my imagination or are the newly colonised systems' stations in ridiculously low orbits? Twice now I have found that when departing, on engaging super-cruise I get the "entering orbital cruise" message.
It is your imagination.

And I would really appreciate it if you would stop imagining my fuel scoop activating as I am coming in to dock.

Brings back memories of hauling building supplies from carriers parked at T Tauri stars and needing to pop heatsinks to get to the pad.

Definitely not your imagination.

Nearly gave up until I drilled in and it's 212,490 credits worth of biological samples delivered to vista genomics 😹

First time I've seen this one. Not really worth busting out the Mandalay for, can buzz around the bubble and just find anything with bio signatures for that kind of cash. Which is fine 😸

That's... not a lot of cash for bio's. A regular tussock should do it :D

I just landed at a nearby Guardian site because I realised I needed a weapon blueprint for Shard Cannons. It was a bit of a waste of time getting that fourth module blueprint then.

Other than that, I just need some more delta and epsilon data. This is the grindiest part of the whole process since you can do the whole run with most obelisks not even giving you anything. A classically peak Fdev form of grind. I think they should change that as part of their engineering improvement. It's not like Guardian modules are that great or anything overall.

It also looks like I need to check my Youtube subs for once because I hadn't seen the livestream and was unaware of the Panther Clipper thing.

The only Guardian modules I have are their Frame Shift Drive Boosters, while some of the other stuff could be an upgrade I don’t really push hard enough in the game to bother getting them.

The Twitch version of the live stream comes with goodies the latest one was a couple of paint jobs, these aren’t available on YouTube due to its rules.
Unless otherwise stated the stream is always on the last Wednesday of the month at 6PM UK time.

At the Guardian module site in Synuefe NL-N C23-4 there are nearby Guardian ruins - there you can gather huge amounts of the data you might want. In fact I discovered if I parked between two active obelisks and just relogged, scanning one and then the other via the turret - cheesing it a bit but it saves mucking about in the long run.

No doubt the same can be done at other Guardian ruins.

I wasn't guaranteed to get anything besides the FSD booster but I was almost certain to want the shard option for my AX Krait. The module reinforcement may be a nice addition to that but not vital. Then there's the shield reinforcement which at least appears to be useful with ships on the smaller end of the scale. I just thought I'm out there anyway and I don't want to have to travel back for more grind if I change my mind about something.

And thanks. Twitch and watching live isn't really my thing but it's good to know.

Oh yeah, I forgot there were smaller ruins and didn't think to check on either planet. I'll see what I get during my attempt at the blueprint before I maybe head off to find a ruin. It would also save time and ammo from not having to deal with sentinels, now that you mention it.

I might just head out there today sometime as I feel like doing some more exploration again. It's been years too since I went to one of these sites so I'll see if I remember any of this Guardian gameplay when I land there! :)
Edit...On my way out there now. Looks like a couple of players are trying to build / claim systems towards that area presently. :sneaky:...:D

PSA - I just read that the CG stations are now paying 444k/ton for Platinum.

Talk about Gold rush... I had planned to do some rares trading for merits if/when I get into my ship again, but this?
Aye, noticed that yesterday, was 222k before, which was a bit low (now it's a bit high then). At this price mining is quite profitable, considering how fast platinum is actually mined. I still consider osmium brings more, but CG stuff on top, some vague memories of a couple of my core mining attemps indicate that i'd maybe have a use of that additional range on abrasion blaster.
