Long range sensors aren’t enough. Neither is praying to RNGesus. You also have to pray to Brabus, sacrifice a small farm animal, whilst singing (with complete lyrics) the song “I am Elite” from Elite: The Musical.
Doing it with slower ship, it can take hours per each finding TDC's, if speed isnt enough, as loot arent as quickly suffled around. This is that simple.
I can't imagine that. With my three TDC grind-rounds so far, I have searched with others in the cargo and found more.
My successful searches go like this:
1. Ship with Long Range Sensors, Limpet Controller ( in my case a Corvette or a Krait)
2. Entry at 20 km distance from Titan
3. Straight ahead full speed (without boost) into the centre of the Titan and through to the other side up to 15-20 km away
4. then circling around the Titan at low speed ( =full speed with cargo hatch deployed) at distances of up to 15 km for about 15 minutes
5. I collect materials and cargo along the way, mostly meta-alloys and samples
- I have usually already found a TDC by then -
7. if not, I fly out to 25 km away, turn around and repeat everything.
8. I boost very little so as not to miss anything
If I want another one directly afterwards, low wake out, turn and repeat.
(Low-waking out seems not necessary, as in one case I found two while circling).
I actually did that at first. But later went with "speed" since it felt bit faster, with really fast ships.IMO destroying unwanted commodities makes the instance generate new ones faster than running away to beyond (long range engineered) sensor range. Ramming or weapons, your choice. Ramming causes no damage even to unshielded ships.
Well, wichever method, its exacly same "way" for search. When you dont find what you want, you gain distance and go back, and loot gets shuffled, until you get TDC spawned. You perfectly explained how it should be done with speed ship, or any ship in that regard, in everything up to point 7, only diffrence is actually point 8 is about doing slowly, and each parts where you said you dont boost.I have a completely different experience. I fly relatively slow and I never search for long.
My method:
Diffrence of that, is about the faster ships do entire process faster, hence higher possible yield of TDC's per hour. It not always will work, since with bad luck, it can still take while, but more often than this, fast shuffle seems to works best, by sheer amount of shuffle going on. This what I mean by "Forcing" instance, by post before.
Yes, it can spawn anywhere in zone. Center or the outer edge, same chance to spawn for TDC. For myself at very least, matters not any bit where it spawns.I think it also depends where around your ship the TDC spawns. When it spawns in front or in the forward half sphere, the faster ship may be more successful.
Why?But when it spawns in the half sphere aft of the ship, the slow flying ship may be the better solution.
Yep, agreed with boost, but why drop to slow speed? An idea that will fit in with both of our experiences:
1 - Short Boost with fast ship about 6-7 km, then drop down to very low speed
I could not bear myself neither should not waste that much time, lookin at already "noticed" or "checked" loot on contact list, regardless own position within spawn zone. Donno how others can do this, but for me, it takes few not more than a few seconds, to know what present set of loot is, by lookin at those specific 2-3 things on contact list, wich should spawn as TDC, if does not, I proceed with shuffle, by moving fast to next place where next loot will spawn, and all previous loot will be gone, after flyin far enough to it to despawn. Within 2-3 mins, I can repeat this few times. By doing this by hour, amount of checked loot then shuffled, will be at hundreds, at very least.2 - circle around a bit at low speed for about 2-3 minutes
Boost yes, no to slow down at all. But I guess this can part can be skiped.3 - Then again boost 6-7 km away, drop down speed again
I guess. Until TDC is being found.4 - repeat
Why?
Use the contacts list in the ship's left panel. It makes spotting what you want so much easier. No need to be targeting individual stuff in front of you to see what it is.

I know. But for 99% of times, it wont spawn like that... I mean, out thousands of thousands loot being checked out, the ones wich would spawn "behind" like that, was maybe about 1% of it. Very rare so at very least. When one is watching left contact panel like a hawk, and if loot actually spawns like that, it still can be seen "what it is" at contacts panel, even for second or two (for me its enough to spot TDC). I dont recall loot being spawned "too much far behind" where it cant seen what it was, while going 800 m/s, so hardly found this being an issue, or reason why I should go slow.Because it can spawn right behind of you at the end of your detection range.
Still, that suggested 2-3 mins "slowdown" kind way too much, where same result is while maintain full speed. But it does not mean that anyone has to do it like this.I don't think that flying slow is a waste of time, because items drop constantly in your detection range around your ship.
Nice find. 2 per hour is normal, when properly searching, while finding 3 can be consider as quite lucky.Just found 3 within an hour. First after 16 minutes, then 40 minutes later 2 at once roughly in the same direction (see the outlines of Earth).
This. That way its very easy to notice any loot, and if faster circles around titan are done, then more shuffle happens, thus higher chance to get TDC statistically is.Even better, learn to fly with the left panel open, in full speed making a circle ~15km around the center.

With high speed, TDC's spawn every 15 to 20 mins on average, and with good luck, it can be more.
It's easier than you think.

I couldn't remember my numbers so I searched back to a previous post as I knew I was using a relatively slow Python, and that was getting me 2 TDC in less than an hour. I also don't think TDC have the least chance to spawn. I think they are tied with Titan Deep Tissue Samples which spawn at that same low rate, or at least they are so close I the rates over my playtime were essentially identical.Ok listen well, cmdrs. Since it cant be sold at FC's anymore, might well as share, how to "force" instance to spawn TDC's.
Anyone who gets them every 15-30 mins, probly using this method as well. They using speedy ships, or being really lucky.
750+ m/s is really efficent, and faster it is, then better.
Among all that trash, TDC have the least chance to being spawn.
I was in Solo, orbiting the Titan along the axis the debris is spread out, at a distance of roughly 8-10km from centre doing 200-400ms, using sensors with 5.4 km range so scanning out to 13-15 km where the Drives are often found (1st week at Cocijo you couldn't tell the distance due to sensor interference, so I was judging by eye from experience at the other sites). Not stopping to collect everything, as many of my Thargoid Materials were already full, but looking for any unfilled Mats and Deep Tissue Samples, occasionally picking up other samples as well if I didn't have to go too far out of my way for my collector limpets. At both Cocijo and Taranis that got me 2 TDC in about 45 minutes, along with other stuff I stopped to collect. With a bit of RNG that could be 2 per hour or 2 per half-hour, but certainly not 2 per 9 hours.
Yeah there is that, if not I'd just use it on my Type-8.You’re assuming there’s a pre-engineered FSD big enough for it…
If it's SCO stabilised one might assume it would take the largest available SCO drive size 7, surely? You’re assuming there’s a pre-engineered FSD big enough for it…
