DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

Also I see no use in spending hours of your life on a Thread when we already probably know when its coming out.

1 all we know is its this year we actually dont have an idea when so speculating still is relevant
2 there is more to a dlc that just when it will come out but also what it will have which for the first time in a long time we have little certainty or agreement
3 there is a little thing called building a community which even though multiple attempts have been made to move it this thread is still the strongest part of the community and do regularly talk about other things.

We've got a habitat reptile each year:

2019 Komodo dragon
2020 Dwarf caiman
2021 American alligator
2022 Spectacled caiman
2023 Asian water monitor
2024 African spurred tortoise

So I think it's very likely that we are getting another one this year. While I could see the perentie coming, I'm betting on an African crocodile, most likely the Nile crocodile. It would be cool to compare the new croc with the original model from 2019.

Let's hope Nile crocodile would be the anniversary animal this year

Yes, although I understand it since most of the reptiles would be better added as exhibit animals. It's sad that we only got 4 exhibit reptiles, but in general the number of exhibit animals is very low.

• Lace Monitor

• Marine Iguana
• Green Sea Turtle
• Central Slender-Snouted Crocodile
• West African Crocodile
• Cuban Crocodile
• Malayan Gharial

I agree, but except for the tegu and iguana, which Frontier decided to consider exhibit, all those options would be just another tortoise, another croc or another monitor. Now we're at a point where any new animal is welcomed, but not so long any of these opitions wouldn't have been well received and would be considered a wasted slot by many people. The spectacled caiman got a lot of complaints. So while I agree that we could get many more reptiles, I kinda understand why it didn't happen. And that's the reason why I'm almost convinced that we're getting the Nile crocodile next. Among all the possible options, and despite being just another croc, the Nile crocodile is very well-known by the general public and it's an iconic animal from Africa, so I think its inclussion would make more people happy than angry.

To be fair 95% of the animals we got over the last years could be described as "just another".
I too would rather get a new kinda of reptile, but i personally dont really see the difference between getting just another tortoise with the red footed and getting just another cat in form of the ocelot.

I’m in the camp of getting “just another” I want it to be in the more unusual subjects. I want:

1. “Just another” monkey
2. “Just another” habitat tortoise
3. “Just another” crocodilian
4. “Just another” habitat lizard
5. “Just another” crane
6. “Just another” waterfowl
7. “Just another” landfowl
8. “Just another” deer

In the end of the day we all have our own biases, but I don’t think it would be to out there to suggest Frontier loves to give us “just another” of the same animals over and over again. The problem is Frontier usually goes all in on one or two animal groups a year/ DLC season.

With everything the “clone” debate is often tiring because what is a “bad clone” often just comes down to what animals you don’t want/ use. For someone who loves dogs, but doesn’t want to make a taiga/ temperate habitat, I’m sure the coyote was awesome. For me, I’m happy to finally have a second flamingo species on my silly zoo game.

Not really sure how I'd feel about alligator snapping turtles doing that 80% of the time. I'd personally rather see them in Exhibits but using smaller sizes than record-breakers.

Id prefer habitat just for the freedom of being able to do my own stuff. Plus having a turtle rig would be great for modding

I’m cool with habitat snapping turtles. In ZooTampa there’s literally a turtle with an alligator in a pond that you never see cause it’s always in the bottom lol. I think having one would be cool for the rig too. Sea Turtle is preferred though

thing is animals can be set to almost never want to leave the water as part of their behaviour, all needs can be met underwater and if they set the traversable area ratio right random movement will also prioritise water.

I mean, alligator snapping turtles also aren't super active. And they'd also need to have land feeders too, as they're a requirement for all our animals.

Sigh... a lot if animals in the game are like that... like beavers and koalas...

I've never considered beavers to be stationary like alligator snapping turtles, they've quite active as most rodents are. I do know koalas sleep for like 20 hours a day but they're still mobile when they need to be moving between trees.

Really do hope they continue with the primate trend, we've gotten 3 back to back which is looking very promising, and with still lots more options I see no reason to stop. Gelada, Langur, Lion Tailed Macaque, Colobus Monkey, Golden Tamarin, Howler, SO many primates Weirdly, I'm more feeling a primate from Africa or Asia since we just got a SA one, (I know SA still needs more primates)

As long as it's not something super niche. Like everyone I want more monkeys, but it really needs to be something you can see in a zoo without needing to go to that specific zoo.
