DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

Man the elephant is really a bummer ngl. Cause besides that I love the Honey Badger and Lion Tailed Macaque so much. They’re animals I have been wanting for a while. As for the elephant I’m gonna prepare for its inclusion that way if it isn’t there I’m pleasantly surprised.

Honestly, I'm pretty sure we're getting no birds.
It's gonna be filled with the most frustrating clone picks ever.
This is genuinely the first pack worth skipping in my opinion
Who crapped in your cornflakes? We can only solidly tell what two of the seven animals are, neither of which are pointless clones, and we don't even know the pack's theme. Don't be so quick jumping to conclusions.

I just can't get over how weird a choice the Sri Lankan elephant is. Like Frontier, an India Pack already has the opportunity for multiple "clones" the community actually wants (Asiatic lion, fishing cat, ungulates galore). Like, as far as more unique animals go, I'm pretty sure most of us are good with the badger, macaque, and a pheasant or crane. I mean, we have Asian elephants that are explicitly the Indian subspecies. South Asia is more than fine in the elephant department! I obviously think it's amazing that we are still getting DLC for this game, and I appreciate the work that goes in. I'm just super confused lol

I did thought first time I saw the art that the baby had a bit of a "snout" on it, but it's just a silhouette, it could still be (it most likely is) a little macaque at a weird angle.

Otherwise it would be weird having two silhouette animals "interacting" in background, I don't think we've had it before.

It's not completely baseless, I'll give you that. If someone handed me just cropped picture of it and asked me to guess of which animal is that silhouette of, I would've never guessed "baby macaque".

Small correction here, the Central/Kathmandu Zoo in Nepal has wild water buffalo. It’s not much but it’s something.
huh that hasnt made into zootierliste yet even with all their questionable zoo choices.
What are our 4 species? Saiga, buffalo, and what else?
saiga is kept in one european facility

the 2 that have never been kept are
  • wild water buffalo (though this was just corrected by someone else)
  • titan beetle

no longer kept are
  • ussuri dhole
  • goliath frog

I havent had the opportunity to go through all the invertebrates yet so there might be more im missing the forest scorpion seems like a likely candidate.
If we are being pedantic there are actually more than 4.
  • proboscis monkey, king penguin are only kept at a species level but both are the type species and dominate populations
  • hill radnor sheep has no records but just about every other sheep breed is kept
  • american standard donkey has no holdings I am certain these are kept somewhere as generic donkeys

Maybe Exhibit Animals would get used if we had more big hitters like cobras, pythons, geckos, and chameleons
Honestly, I think it has more to do with their size and lack of flexibility than anything else. There's a few exhibit species I love but because the exhibit boxes are huge, customization is limited, and any customization you can do beyond ticking the boxes isn't even functional... I usually don't bother.

The heavy-hitters would probably help but I'd imagine people would get bored with them pretty quickly too.

I think we were supposed to end with the Zookeeper Animal Pack, but PC2 wetting itself meant it was back to the mines for PZ's skeleton crew.
Almost definitely. And I'm still kinda convinced the final roster for the Zookeeper pack was changed as a result.

My prediction:

Honey Badger(Of Course)
Liontail Macaque(Of Course)
Sri Lanken Elephant(I hope it's a more broad Asian pack and we get the Sumatran Elephant instead[the word "Sumatran" is in the Planco dictionary and isn't used yet])
Asiatic Lion
Reeve's Muntjac(could have more Interspecies enrichment bonus animals than any other Asian animal if added.)
Blackbuck
Bar headed Goose or Black Stork

If we are going back to get 4 packs this year, could it be possible to alternate between animal pack with pieces (spring and fall DLC) and animal packs with exhibit animal (summer and winter)?

I would love to see:
spring - Americas pack with Ranch/Mexican pieces
Summer - India/Asia with cobra
Fall - forest pack with log cabin pieces
Winter - safari pack with chameleon
I don't think it bears thinking about yet, console catches up in July, so this might be the finale, I'd wait until there's confirmation of more in the 2nd post release stream.

If they were planning to alternate again, Americas likely would've been a traditional Scenery pack.

Im telling you guys right now it is NOT probably going to be an India animal pack pack, we were thinking Zookeepers would be a highlands animal pack but guess we were wrong. That elephant is going to be either a borneo or Sumantra.
The Elephant is a 1/3 of being Greater India, the others shown are Indian, and the architecture doesn't seem to match SEA (It's dubious on being Indian, but thick cylindrical columns don't seem a thing for SEA much at all).

Could be generic Asia, but there's a a third of the meta list to choose from, so elephants are an even weirder choice. Could be Indomalaya, but it's not really brought up as a term much. Could be Rainforest/Jungle, but all of them being Asian is quite the coincidence.
