DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

I am probably not going to have popular opinion
but I am not fan of domesticated versions of possible wild counterpants. I like farm animals in zoos, yes, but if this is a game, why would I go for domesticated water buffaloo, camel or yak when there is a wild version? It doesn't change anything, why do I need to have DOMESTICATED label written on the animal name? The game constantly dances around "conservation" and "release to wild" and I would put the non endangered domestic versions in the zoo? I know it happens in real ones because of various reasons but this is a game... let me take care of the wilderness :D

And I am also not for another elephant, I am glad for people who wanted it, and I am ok for aniother rhino, but it's just weird to me we would have third elephant and fourth rhino while we still have just one zebra species ever since :D

I'd say there are signs that it might be like that, because on the key art we can already see a new plant wrapped around the Indian column on the right. It's not much to go on, most of the other scenery stuff is way in the back so it's too early to really guess if there's more new scenery in the key-art; but at least there already is some.
So exhibit animals dead dead?

If we are going back to get 4 packs this year, could it be possible to alternate between animal pack with pieces (spring and fall DLC) and animal packs with exhibit animal (summer and winter)?

I would love to see:
spring - Americas pack with Ranch/Mexican pieces
Summer - India/Asia with cobra
Fall - forest pack with log cabin pieces
Winter - safari pack with chameleon
Ooh I'd like that very much

Domestic yak has roughly 220 holdings in real zoos, meanwhile the wild one has 1, with only 2 males.

That's why the domestic version is priorised.

But PZ has also a handfull of animals not usually kept in the zoos as well? It would be best if they didn't use "wild" or "domestic" in the species name and just let people imagine what they want (except 'wild' african donkey bcs that's the species name itself innit?)

Yeah, but like really not more than a small handful at best. There are some animals that are extremely uncommon in captivity but are kept in captivity in very specific places. I'd say about 98,5% of all animals in PZ are kept in captivity so I think that argument really doesn't hold much water.

That being said, given the track record I'd say it's more likely that a Wild Yak is added (looking at you Wild Water Buffalo); but I do share the sentiment of @Utahraptor Arcanus that I prefer the one that is more commonly kept in zoos. It's a preference like any other really.

Pretty sure yeah. As mentioned before, they have analytics of how often certain animals are placed down. They probably looked at that when making the decision, so my assumption is that they're just going to stick with that if the DLCs they released without an exhibit animal turned out to be more profitable.
Maybe Exhibit Animals would get used if we had more big hitters like cobras, pythons, geckos, and chameleons

If the blackbuck isn't here it will be way more baffling than the coati where you can at least make two arguments (even if I don't fully agree with them):
  1. Super popular animal, would be a selling point for PZ2
  2. Would need some new unique animations
The blackbuck is, as great as it is, just another gazelle animation wise. And whilst it is popular, its nowhere near popular enough to make that same argument. This is a super easy slam dunk animal and easily one of the most iconic Indian species missing, I will genuinely be shocked if it doesn't turn up.

Ngl the more the time pass, the more stupid an Sri Lanka elephant seens to me.

Like imagine a animal with 0 interest from the community, with very low captive numbers and it counterpart looks already fine, while everything it can do, it free counterpart also does, but better, and all of that while tecnically already existing ingame. That's the Sri Lanka elephant.

It's so bad that i don't think Frontier would be Greedy enough to throw it in by a price.

The Indian Elephant is also relatively low in number. It’s mostly due to the fact that zoos just list their elephants as ‘Asian Elephant’ rather than a specific subspecies. So whilst the Indian Elephant IS a little more abundant in zoos, it still only has three holdings in North America according to zootierliste.

Sorry, but I don't think a Coati is a major selling point for PZ2.
I agree the second point was probably a consideration, even if, again: we are paying so it is okay to want have put quality and work into the product.

I don't need the Blackbuck personally, but know it is highly requested. So if Frontier does not add them in the pack it is just yet another sign they completely lost contact with the player base. I am not saying it is a given that they will mess this pack uo, just talking about a possible case scenario.

I mean, what other caprines could they add from this region? We already got the two main ones that most people wanted, and I doubt they're going to include something like Bharal or Siberian Ibex

EDIT: I underestimated India's caprine diversity by a long shot.
I say this as a caprine fan: we may be screwed.
Maybe they can only give us monkeys as long as they come along a goat or something.
