For the first time this year I'm going to visit Tierpark and Zoo Berlin, Tierpark tomorrow and Zoo on Monday. Using the long weekend for some zoo time:love:
If anyone has some wishes for pictures of certain animals or constructions sites or habitats, please tell me. I'm trying to get these. (Just want to make the visits a bit more of a fun challenge for me :D)

I've had no inspiration for PlanZo lately. I thought the new DLC (Americas) would've helped, but I dunno what to do...
So lately I've just been playing Ark Survival Evolved and trying to figure out why Spore won't run on my desktop (I get an annoying Error 1002 but can't seem to fix it)
I'm finding it hard to play lately because it takes so long to build anything good. I really hope PZ2 has some time-saving tools like brushes and autorooves.

Instead I am building a zoo in Rimworld. @DarthQuell I think you'd like Rimworld: it's an irreverant story-building colony sim. No need for the DLC. There are like a million mods. Anyway I've challenged myself to a colony of 5 zookeepers and as many animals as they can collect and keep safe from raiders. Nice little project for jetlag weekend.

Oh awesome, have a great time! Please share a pic of the animal/habitat that surprises you the most :)

I gotta check it out some more. It's on my Wishlist but I'm waiting for it to go on sale

It really is a very special place. Yes, love Armstrong woods. Redwoods have such a serious presence. My grandparents have a few redwoods in their yard and I had to go and touch one as soon as I arrived, haha. We used to go down to Bodega for a nice meal / day trip often. Haven't been this trip, they're getting older and finding it harder to drive etc. How funny to meet a neighbour on here :) wonder if we know anyone in common! My family are the Barneses and the Baranoffs (got some Russian/Ukrainian roots on my Grandma's side)
A small world indeed! I’m sure we have some acquaintances but neither of those names are ringing a bell. My family are all Boyntons, Lowells, Caseys, and Johnsons. Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip!

Make sure to not miss the kiwi at the zoo and the aye aye at the tierpark!
Both of them are really easy to just walk past imo.

Yeah I know, it's not my first time in Berlin haha, just this year's first visit.
The aye aye however is new to me, not sure if I can take a picture though.

Okay . . . yesterday I went to Universal's new theme park in Orlando, Epic Universe.

I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm gonna go land by land to share what I thought about my experience.

Celestial Park
In the advertising, this area is supposed to put the "park" back in "theme park," and it really shows. There's huge fountains, beautiful landscapes, nice patches of grass to sit on, and renaissance-styled statues. The main coaster in the park, Stardust Racers, was a really fun dueling coaster! I also had lunch at the Oak and Star Tavern, which specializes in barbeque foods, and dinner at the Blue Dragon, the pan-Asian restaurant. Both were really good!

Super Nintendo World
I bought myself the power-up band (specifically the Donkey Kong one) that allows you to play minigames featured throughout the land. Those were a lot of fun! It felt like I was playing minigames from Mario Party in real life! The Mario Kart ride was fun too. The Yoshi Adventure ride was one of the few things that my mom could do with me (she hates drops on rides and overly thrilling stuff). I couldn't do the Donkey Kong roller coaster, but I'm sure that I will when I come back.

How to Train Your Dragon Isle of Berk
I couldn't do the roller coaster because it was down for a little bit. I didn't want to do the Fyre Drill boat ride because I didn't want to get soaked, and the Dragon Racers Rally flat ride didn't interest me much at the time. The stage show wasn't really my priority either. However, I waited an hour to meet Toothless, and IT WAS WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic
This land took what worked with Diagon Alley and really turned it up. You enter through Wizarding Paris from the Fantastic Beasts films. To get to the main ride, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, you enter the British Ministry of Magic through the floo powder network to get to the ride. Umbridge is on trial for her crimes, but the Death Eaters break her out so she can try to steal a broken time turner. The effects and animatronics were PHENOMENAL, and when it all came together it was ASTOUNDING!!!!! And funny story: this was the first ride I did that day, and it broke down in the middle of the ride. They had us ride through with the effects off, and when we got off, they let us get on again right away and start the whole thing over from scratch!

Dark Universe
MY FAVORITE PART, HANDS DOWN!!!!! The village of Darkmoor is very reminiscent of the setting from Universal's original Frankenstein movie. The main ride, Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, was SOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!! I ended up riding it twice! The Curse of the Werewolf roller coaster wasn't my favorite, but it was fun despite being a little too short. This land also has my favorite characters to interact with. Frankenstein's Monster and the Bride were fun to talk to. The Invisible Man is allowed to be rude, and that makes him so much fun to interact with. Ygor was my favorite character to interact with overall. He's just so morbid and funny! I like to lean into the bit when I interact with characters in parks because I like character improv comedy, so I told him that I blacked out on the Monsters Ride and woke up with stitches, suspecting that my kidney and spleen had swapped places. He then got a big silly grin on his face. I asked him, "Was that you? Did you knock me out?" He just said, ". . . Maybe." Hilarious!

Awesome! Did you spot any Pikmin in Super Nintendo Land? Apparently they have them hidden throughout the park

Just watched David Attenborough's Ocean - would recommend anyone interested in conservation to watch. It's super confronting and honest and honestly depressing at times, but ignoring the problem is not going to help so spreading awareness is key.
I'm trying to muster up the courage to watch it.

Petition to make Attenborough King of the World and Lord of Everything. What a hero.

I’m headed to Epic later this year. I missed my shot during previews cause I was busy with wedding planning

Here are my tips:
  • Get there an hour or two before they open if you're not staying at any of the Universal hotels.
  • Do the Harry Potter ride first. It's worth it. The line will immediately jump to three hours long the minute the park opens.
  • The rest of your day is based on what you prioritize. My order was Harry Potter, Stardust Racers, Monsters Unchained, meet Frankenstein's Monster and the Bride, Curse of the Werewolf, lunch at the Oak and Star Tavern, meet Toothless, Mario Kart, play the Super Nintendo World mini games, Monsters Unchained again, meet Ygor, and dinner at the Blue Dragon.
  • Take time to take in the scenery. This park was designed to be visually impressive, so take in as much as you can. The Celestial Park area is also quite tranquil.
  • If you wanna meet characters, lean into the bit. Ask questions. Have fun with it.

Oh trust we always have fun meeting characters my wife has all the enthusiasm of a little kid at Disney when she sees a meet and greet 😂

I’m a coaster guy but I really want to check out the Dark Rides and I love Nintendo so I might prioritize them after getting on Harry Potter. Thank you for the tips. I heard Stardust never has that insane of a line so that’s good. That’s my most hyped

I'm back from my weekend in Berlin. It was a little exhausting but also very nice. I was very lucky with the aye aye in Tierpark and their newest addition, a lesser kudu (another very rarely kept ungulate for the already outstanding collection). Can't wait to share some pics in the next days.
