I am having a similar issue....only for me it's a validation error linked to data.osx

Only problem is that I don't even have a folder called Appdata.....

MAP FILTERS

OK nice but what about the fact that my map is pretty useless: can't use the MAP FILTERS, I thinks it's a really important function wich is still not working since the 1.03...

Nah, got interdicted 3 times this morning while fuel scooping, escaped all 3.
By the way, iterdicted is a horrible long word, what's peoples preferred slang?

How about Kerbed? Like when your pulled over.

I got interdicted four times last night, and escaped three of them. The one that got me was a system authority vessel while I was really close to the station, probably got me because I was going really slowly already.

Must be me then. It's just usually so easy to evade and last night couldn't escape for crap, even with the escape vector never leaving the middle of the screen! Never had that happen before. I was 'kerbed?' by the cops last night too, never had that happen either and just so he could scan me and say move along. Cheers for the repair bill on that mate! Only a few hundred creds but the principle of it is a bit harsh. A bit like the police doing a spot check on your car by drawing up along side and nudging you to the kerb. Police ships flashing their lights and saying pull over would be better. If you fail to pull over you get in a police ship chase!

Sounds like Elite is still in memory, have you checked the process list? Tried a reboot?

you should work to give balance between the various activities, I speak of the profits made.
if you want to make money trading is the only solution

Missions can be just as lucrative, at least until you can afford one of the really big ships.

Personally, I think they should rejig the commodity purchase and sale system to take into account quantity. You want to fill up your hauler or cobra with tobacco? No problem. You want to fill a T9? Well, you can buy 50 tons easily, but if you want to buy more than that, you'll have to shop around and pay a little more. Or, pick a lower margin bulk commodity like food that you actually get a bulk discount on. At the moment you have the crazy situation that only one commodity is worth transporting from A to B. The one commodity that has the highest margin. Nobody in their right mind would ever transport anything other than that one commodity (unless they are so poor that they can't afford it). With a more sophisticated pricing curve, the big ships would be mainly transporting lower value bulk commodities.

Well, I don't actually think they should do that. I think the game is fine as it is, we all know it's a simplification, and it's faithful to the earlier games. Trading is a fallback career that anyone can make money on if they fall upon hard times by having different kinds of fun. Personally I'm building up a healthy balance to bankroll an exploring career.

Getting dicted? ..no wait

Well it is always from behind...

I vote for the verb "Tug". I can imagine an old spacer saying:

"They got in behind me and tried their best to tug me off while I was super cruising here"

Did they have to reach around as well?

It's a back-handed compliment if ever I saw one.

It always happens when I drop my soap in the changing rooms, so many super cruisers down the gym these days.

Friend, Explorer is not profitable, I visited 2183 system (and I did not scan all system) profit: 3.4Milion

There is nothing worse than trawling 120 LY with Rares only to be Dict by a pirate! LMAO! :)

You said you didn't scan them, and probably didn't have a surface scanner fitted either? You're right, it's not profitable compared to trading, but that many systems with proper modules should yield a bit more.

A ping with an ADS takes seconds, maybe a few minutes if you count the time to jump to another system, and can earn thousands, probably average about Cr1,000 per system, maybe a little more. Flying around every body in the system scanning them with DSS probably takes at least twenty times as long, much more for the systems with distant binaries, does it pay out twenty times the amount? Does a middle ground, where you scan the nearby objects only, pay out proportionally?

I'm not saying that this game is only about the cr/hour, of course.

So, a day passed and... nothing changes in any faction influence anywhere. The background simulation system still doesn't work.

No. When they fly right in front of your ship and have a split second to react its their fault for bad flying.
Stuff happens, adapt and overcome. When i first started bounty hunting, I was blasting nearby ships that would cross line of fire. As my spacial awareness and skills have grown, I haven't had any problems with accidentally hitting something I do not intend to. Perhaps you should try to be understanding that the space police are stupid thugs and have a bit more care before injuring their pride or insulting their manhood by slapping them with some lazers or bullets.

Where will Andy be posting his update? Will it be here in this forum?

He already posted yesterday over here:

I guess it depends on how often the servers moves a "tick".

Personally I hope it takes longer to shift the powerbalance of a system than just a couple of hours. IMO it should at least take a day before a change is seen. Maybe even 2-3 days...otherwise it will be hard to take part in conflicts unless you have time to play the game every single day.

I scanned the closest objects with the surface scanner fitted (before I went back to trading again) and got between 1000-20000 depending how many objects in the system. Nutter's explorer thread got exact info on what each terrestrial body will give for doing a detailed scan, might be worth checking out. Detailed scan with flying up to them yields way too little unless you hid some of the rare objects, so it's not a viable income source to replace bounty hunting or trading.

I tend to smuggle quite a bit of illegal goods, and I get interdicted often, but I have been able to escape interdiction since the update.

Since the update (1.04) its now been impossible to not be caught when interdicted. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me? Before 1.04 I was interdicted probably 10 to 15 times since I started playing the game and I would say didn't escape maybe 2 times. Last night I was interdicted 4 times and never escaped once. One time I never let the escape vector out of the very centre of the screen and yet my blue bar never went up but the red did and I was still pulled out into normal space with damage. I have escaped may many times with far worse flying than that (I was also interdicted by the police one time which was new (for me anyway)).

There was also another issue I noticed that wasn't as before too but at this moment (early morning + late night) I cant quite remember what it was. I'm sure it will come back to me and I'll post it when it does.
