Fantastic work!

It would be great to have a list of references for the formulas used (e.g., forum threads).

I also suggest rounding jump distances to two decimals. This way the figure will be exactly equal to that provided by the UI (and let's face it, no one cares for any decimals in that number:) ).

Thanks for the great work again.

I thought about that, but didn't really like how the in-game UI does it -- it always rounds to nearest, when it should probably round down for jump range and up for distances, to be on the safe side.

For example, suppose your actual jump range is 10.005, and your destination is 10.014 LY away. The game will tell you it's 10.01 and that you can jump 10.01 and you'll think it's fine, but if you actually try to make the jump, it will fail.

At least, I think that's what will happen. I guess I'm not sure if anybody has tested whether the game internally uses maximum precision values for jump fuel use (both for your range and the target distance), or if it actually rounds them to 2 digits before computing fuel use (and therefore ability to jump at all).

This makes sense, but without a clarification of how exactly the figures in the UI are calculated and the jump mechanics work (high-precision or using rounding to avoid the above confusing situation) I'd expect it's better to agree with the outfitting UI.

Forgive me if this has been asked in any of the previous 14 pages, but would you consider adding cookies or accounts to store the configurations? Would be great in order to avoid having to repeatedly fill out everything.

You can bookmark the current page as you have set it up, the URL changes according to what you select and thus opening the bookmark restores your selection. Which also means you can share a build simply by sharing the URL. :)

@Taleden. You are looking for Orca data - and perhaps a few other missing data. I don't have one (rarely play) but just read the thread "Elite in trading == 1.015 bil Cr". Believe it or not but a few have already become Billionaires. Perhaps they can help you out by buying an Orca and collect the data for you. Just my 2 eurocent.

Doh! That's what I get for not drinking enough coffee - should have spotted that. Thanks! :)

Hey taleden, would you be able to add / append the power & weight stat to the drop down list text for each slot? Would make it easier when you're looking for the lightest / least power hungry options, currently you have to click through each in turn.

Great tool btw, thanks for your efforts!

I just came across this and just had to say wonderful job. I also employ Thrudds on the daily, and will be sending you a donation very soon. It has made my gameplay much more immersive than I could have imagined. Awesome work

I'll consider that, but I'm hesitant to add anything to those dropdowns that will make them any wider than they already are; the page is already on the wide side, so I want to avoid making it so wide that it has to scroll on narrower screens.

One thing you can try when scanning for modules is to use the keyboard; when your focus is one of the module dropdowns, the up and down arrow keys will change the module by one slot (and immediately update the stats displays), and the page up and page down keys will jump to the top and bottom of each module group. You can also use tab and shift-tab to move your focus through each dropdown, and after that, through the power and cost toggle boxes.

My insurance is showing at 96% not 96.25% or is it that I'm looking in the wrong place? If it makes any difference I am a KS backer but signed up for beta last October. Not sure if FD used multiple different rates depending on when you backed/joined.

I think the in-game display just rounds the percentage; when you configure your exact same loadout on the site, does the insurance cost in credits match what it says in-game?

1 step at a time :)

I have now managed to get the Mass and Power right but am struggling with the total cost and insurance. Insurance is currently 44k over in game figure. Does it make a difference that I am in my 'free' Cobra and still have a Loaned Fuel tank? Can I tell in game how much the Cobra cost. The amount spent on outfitting presumably overstates because no one can afford to just buy A rated straight away. Also does the game price items at full price or does the Founders World discount make a difference? As I said 1 step....

Thanks for the time you have put into the tool. I will do a bit more research myself after I have had a play. :D

Yeah, unfortunately the loaned equipment and Founders World discount do all have an effect on your rebuy cost, so it might not yet be possible to get the site to exactly agree with what you see quoted in-game. But as to your original question, I have the beta insurance myself and I'm pretty sure it is actually 96.25% and not 96; if you have 3200 credits to spare, you can verify yourself by purchasing a brand new Sidewinder (not at Founders World) and checking if the in-game rebuy cost is 1280 (96% insurance) or 1200 (96.25% insurance).

Nice tool. TY for sharing. :)

I had been planning on asking about the Insurance a couple weeks ago when I noticed the price was off by just a mere few credits, but with the last few upgrades the Insurance is now showing the correct cost to the penny. (120,503 cr with the Beta discount that I had totally forgotten about receiving)

I haven't been able to really play since the 9th due to a borked game client that took control of my Return/Enter keys, so this is where my ship has been stuck at for 11 days.

Any idea when gimbaled C3 multi cannons and C3 missiles are going to be added to the game?

Thanks for that - will give it a go tonight if I have time. Will report back.
