Nurf The Python? Are You Serious?
First let me say Thank you for producing the game and thank you founders for pledging to help it move along I had never heard of Elite Dangerous until about 3 weeks ago when a few friends talked me into buying it. It took me 2 hours just to learn to land and take off, after my first warp through space I was hooked!! Night after night I was making the universe safer from those pirates, I decided to make Elite Dangerous my cyber home so I needed to make some cash and started to learn to trade because I WANTED A PYTHON.
So in 16 days of play I have a Type 9, a 6,000,000 per hour route (from exploring), and a 180,000,000 Python, and most importantly I was too late for all the glitches so I can say I earned every bit of my money.. I have no other ships nor do I need any other ships. Over the last couple of days I have taken a break from grinding and started exploring and working on my rank then I come to the forums to find the devs have ALREADY decided to nurf the Python.
I heard the reasons to nurf the Python has prongs 2 prongs.... 1. the PVP community thinks it's too strong and 2. the lore says it's a trader ship... Lets explore these OPINIONS...
1. PVP Community - I am a PVP'er have always been. I even trade in Open-Play, I even PVP in my Type-9, there are 8 commanders too embarrassed to tell their friends they got ripped to shreds by a Type-9 with no shield. I have found that most PVP players have no clue about Flight Assist or how to use it. Needless to say most PVP'ers don't know how to PVP anyway so who is ED listening to? I agree that in the right hands the Python is a great fighter and a pretty good trader (that's how I got my Type 9, I sold my Python to buy the Type 9 and got it back in 2 days) But PVP'ers need that one ship to strive for and the Python is it. 56,000,000 as a base price, 180,000,000 - 200,000,000 to equip, 50,000 in gas to go a few light years, these are GODLY prices and justify a GODLY ship. True PVP'ers will pay the cost to be the boss, this game is NOT PAY TO WIN and I thank you for that but if ED caves to Weekend Warriors that call them selves PVP'ers there is no reason to progress pass the price of a cheap fighter, 180,000,000 justifies the abilities of the PYTHON as it stands RIGHT NOW.
So lets compromise, give the stats (nurf) to the base Python but after spending 180,000,000 in ungrades the Python should have the same stats we enjoy right now. That is the desire of a true PVP'er, still leaves a reason to progress for PVP'ers, doesn't screw over the people that have already upgraded the Python, gives week end warriors a chance to destroy poorly upgraded pythons.... WIN, WIN, WIN.
2. I played Star Wars Old Republic for a year and gave them over $1000.00. I played Mech Warrior Online and gave them $600.00 over a year or so. I left both of those games over constant nurfs, they would sell a mech or ability and then nuf the heck out of it to make you buy the next thing.. got tired of pay to win and found this game. Now I didn't mind the money that wasn't the problem the problem is if I pay for something in money or my TIME I don't want it messed with. Clearly I spent all that time to buy the Python in it's present state, I wouldn't have even bothered to buy it if it wasn't the top fighter.. because I'M A PVP'er not a toothless lion (what the proposed Python will be) or weekend warrior.
Why was the Python released in the first place, I'm sure ED and the community knew the lore, the ship was beta tested, and given the thumbs up, now all of a sudden you want to nurf it. So if the Python isn't the best fighter and sure as heck ain't the best traded... too expensive to use for either... why own one? This logic scares me, it makes me wonder if this game is going to be full of nurfs in the future and if it is It's not the game for me. I'm all for balance, but balance it before you release it to the public.
