We need more variety, more color, more shapes in these ships.

Nice post.

You made some very noobish mistakes (federation -> corporation !!!! ; Python can land on outposts) which seem to indicate that you don't overplay this game. Big ships are sort of candy for people that overplay the game, at least at the moment.

I like a lot of your ideas though. I like a lot of a lot of people ideas, tbh. Darn game, if you only you could be that good!

On topic, my body is ready for the Corvette. My credits balance, not really, but working on it...

I don't mind if you play solo, too. Me not, i'm here for the MMO aspect.
You here for "Clone army of paladins (or any other most expensive and powerful class)". You know about, how MMOs falls in this plague.

What? No, i'm here for what Braben said when saying it's a MMO. Are we going to play the guessing game some more? Or it's time for you to answer my questions?

My first question is this - if you don't see any other point in this game than to grind for bigger ships, why do you even come out of solo?

I want to see variety, I want to see differences, I want to see why the Empire is the Empire, and how luxurious, exhuberant and over indulgent their station get, oppose to the refinement, pragmatic yet elegant design of corporation, versus more inventive and creative one in Alliance. Unique stations that you visit because, just as in Earth, you go to Paris for the Eiffel Tower, New York for the Empire State, so forth and so on...there are no special stations or places to go and visit, to do tourism... a station with unique features, like a library one to search through the Universal Cartographics Data -I suggested this in another thread- or the Imperial Palace Station in Achenar where you can see the power of the Empire, with only rares in the commodity market, or a Military Fortress in Federation that only sells all weapons and defense systems only for certain ranks and have military patrolling....
..

I agree. Let us have a Military base with some sort of huge 'Deathstar' HQ and many large capital ships parked nearby, possibly with AI tenders shuttling between them. Maybe a large carrier that the smaller ships can dock at if they have a good relationship with that military (trading wont fit with that so maybe they only deal in giving military missions?) How about a military dockyard with half constructed capital ships and flares from the construction process, perhaps with good prices for people bringing in metals. Non military sights might be a racetrack or a large abandoned alien artifact/ship or a huge cylindrical 'Habitat' like the one in Arthur C Clarkes 'Rendezvous With Rama' or Peter F Hamiltons 'Nights Dawn' trilogy. Maybe as a halfway point to giving us Planetary landings they could make a cylinder or ring with fields and towns and atmosphere that you could land a ship at a bit like the one in the film Elysium ( http://polemiko-imerologio.gr/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/maxresdefault.jpg) which is really just a larger version of our own 'Orbis' station.

I think both Mr Braben and Michael Brookes have said they'd like to see more variation in stations, espeically the interiors. But they also said it's a lot of work and not a priority.

The better ED does the more they liley they will be able to add purely asthetic features, and it's doing pretty well so far, so there's still hope for these kind of updates.

I never understood the argument
"What do we need another big ship, we need more variety"
When
1) it is providing variety in the big ship area
2) We have had sneak peaks of two other small looking ships the Imperial Courier and Diamondback, so working on the Corvette does not exclude other ships being worked on at the same time.

I'm finding the budget Speedlink Black Widow perfectly fine for my first flight stick.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Speedlink-SL-6640-SBK-Black-Widow-Flightstick/dp/B0001ZN4WU

I've got one of these too and been using it for over a year (I was in the beta). It is fine. Nice feeling joystick, throttle is ok but the buttons feel plasticky.

Since January I've had it apart three times to repair it. Twice because of twitchy roll control (it kept dropping the left wing). Once because the yaw (rudder) control broke. The twitchy roll just needed the tracks cleaning. The yaw control was a broken spring that I bent into a new shape and its working again. I guess that's why it's cheap. If it goes again I'll be looking for something different.

That's a novel definition of "best." "Best if you don't like flying a possibly better ship for the job."

I agree conda is often a better trader than a t9. Conda has a better jump range than the asp for exploration but that's about it.

I think it is more accurate that the conda is very very good at almost everything.
Its not a novel definition, its the definition of best. For smuggling (lol), and mining (lol) there are better ships I agree. But for exploration, trading and pew v pew its the de facto king.

People cried that the Python did everything well (except exploring because jumprange). And it got nerfed. Guess what's next in line?

I use the T-16000M and have been extremely happy with it. But any of the joysticks mentioned in this tread will probably work well. It's a matter of using and getting accustomed to it and button assignments. I changed my button assignments on a daily basis for the first week or so until I fine tuned it to my needs.

T-16000M is pretty much the best you can get for accuracy at that price range. It is pretty much the only joystick that I know of that uses HALL sensors at under $100.

I will say this, the Logitech does have some slop and needs a little dead zone. It's not the sensor though, it's the stiffness. And it desperately needs a small mold extension above Fire#2 because it's too easy to trigger that through normal motions. Like a Class 4 Thumb Rest or something.

The throttle however is wicked good. And the overall platform is very solid.

That said, I haven't used more then 2 of the base buttons (left hand kb baby), because a square layout like that hurts feel. Buttons need to be uniquely located for eyes off imho.

And I have trialed the T-16 and found it's joystick to be superior to Logitech in a the XYZ range. It feels really good. But I disliked the rest of it too much, especially the abysmal throttle slider.

I grew up with Janes sims and CH sticks, and always had one hand on the keyboard since the himem boot disk for Tie-Fighter. I've trialed a X-55 but even with a center KB position (desk was not ideal admittedly) I couldn't get past the few hours of pain trying to get used to it. Especially since it's main feature, the Throttle, was not broken in yet and was not very friendly. Too muddy and over weight. And do we really need that many buttons/switches/sliders/hats. Salute to those that can master it, I can't play guitar either...

And for some reason, I am deadly with WASD thrusters, but a total skunk with Hat thrusters. Go figure :p

Extreme Pro 3D it's cheap, fits my big hands , has twist for yaw Best joystick for the money , a good starting stick before jumping into HOTAS
