Soontill Relics, the Regor Permit Sector and DB's cryptic hints....

... for me though in truth I'm feeling it’s just a rare spawn.......I could be totally wrong and it could be tied to a location so on that hand search data would be good, an certainly can't hurt!

I've been following the assumption that its a rare spawn for days. Personally I've put around 40 hours into this and I know there are lots of players who have spent much more time than that. Collectively the amount of hours spent on checking signal sources will be insane by now.

I'm beginning to think its a mission generated item. I'm not sure if that's something anyone has explored yet. I've been taking a few black box and rebel transmission missions in He Bo, flying around and waiting for the unidentified signal sources to pop up and seeing if the ships that appear in those offer any hints or further info (npcs won't converse unless you have an active mission it seems). So maybe this UA is generated from a few linked mission arcs. Unfortunaly I don't have much time to dedicate to this now as RL commitments beckon this weekend... just thought I'd put it out there for anyone whose grown tired of checking signal sources and wants to try a different approach.

Hmmm... This search has got me thinking: what would I do if I were FD?

If UAs were in the game since 1.2 then they're going to be rare but not one in a million as people weren't (yet) actively looking for them.

Since DB's (and Michael's) hints, we now are... Which means if the previous incidence rate was maintained, we'd have found them pretty quickly based on Redeye coming across a reasonable number in a week under the "old" rate.

So I think FD must have either reduced the frequency massively post hint or... My guess: temporarily removed their spawning entirely. This gets us all frantically looking and increasing the number of active player looking for a short period of time (eg. Over a bank holiday weekend) and then the rate will be pushed back up again when we're deemed to be "getting warm".

It also gives FD the benefit of the huge number of really quite creative and clever ideas everyone is coming up with - perhaps to include in future missions or galnet articles.

Whatever, I think they must have nerfed the incidence rate, perhaps down to zero. In this case, I don't think that's A bad thing as its being done to allow more of us to participate...

I pretty much agree with your assessment.

If we understand that one player, Redeye, found 3 or 4 of these on his own, then it makes no sense why possibly hundreds of players actively putting in countless hours have failed to get even a sniff of one.

Either the spawn rate has been messed with by FD since Redeye found his, or Redeye's recollection of how he found them is hazy. I'm edging towards thinking they're mission generated items and that Redeye possibly had an active mission on-going when he stumbled across his and he may have forgot?

I'm finding hard to accept that these items are random drops now.

You are all going by what Redeye has said. What if he isn't telling the truth?

Let's not start accusing people.

Redeye has spent a long time on this thread and I THINK Michael sort of agreed with something he said (correct me if I'm wrong).

But obviously at the end of the day....it's a possibility I suppose.

Plus the way the universe works, UAs become the most sort after item in the Galaxy, possibly hinting at the existence of intelligent alien life, and you have just flogged off 4 of them for 200K a pop a week or 3 ago, Yup, that sounds exactly how it would work.

Redeye posted the following in another thread before this one even started...

That's it. That was added recently we think.
I've had a few but just sold them.
Logic tells me to bring them Peregrina system and try sell them here and see what happens.

He said he had UA's in his possession a while back, long before anyone knew about their significance, and he was curious to know what would happen if he took one to Peregrina.

So to be fair to him, he was talking about UA's before Michael's hint (which is when most of us jumped on-board).

I don't doubt he's had them, I'm just saying that possibly the spawn rate has drastically changed since he found his, or he may have had missions active that were linked to their spawning.

Redeye claims to have found them before this search started and just thought they were a commodity to sell (which they are).

This is understandable if he had no knowledge of their importance.

Their significance wasn't known then though. Yes, finding several seems unlikely but if what Redeye says isn't true, is there a better way to look for UAs than to search Signal Sources? We know they spawn cannisters of all other types, either as salvage or cargo. It stands to fairly logical order that it would spawn UAs as well.

Sorry I was meaning he was a credible source, and it was terrible luck he found four and sold them before their true value became know.
And by terrible like I mean par for the course.

Oooh... thpopcornsmile.gif

I spent a loooonng time searching around Peregrina and surrounding systems last night and fell asleep at my keyboard. I think tonight I will move to another area and start again. Any new leads to follow ?
