warning - griefer in Sag A*

Just to let you know that after completing BuckyBall 7 last night I logged back into Sag A* and got attacked and killed by a CMDR for no apparent reason other than their pleasure. Unfortunately I was just enjoying the view and didn't even notice them until they had interdicted me. I believe, due the to rules of the forum, I am not allowed to name and shame the person responsible (I do have screenshots).

For me this is absolutely disgraceful behaviour. I've spent 3 days, visiting over 1000 systems, and now all the hard work is gone, so some swine can kill an unarmed explorer. I was really looking forward to the return trip and being able to take more time to visit the unusual and amazing things in the FD Galaxy.

I'm not a proponent of stopping griefing, but I would love to be able to
1) name and shame publically. If this was RL behaviour public condemnation would be a deterrent.
2) I'd love to be able to put a 5m CR bounty on this player's head.

Anyway, other travellers to Sag A be careful.

That is truly awful, and I can't help but think it really is a griefer just there to annoy people. All that way...

Thanks for the warning though. Anyone in a 'conda with enough guns to dispatch this miscreant?

Welp, it's finally happened, and was only a matter of time.

You can't name and shame on /this/ forum...

Anyway, hope you recover from this soon.

For me, there is a world of difference between someone randomly killing someone who is just trading or in combat. You might at worst, set them back a few hours (unless they are stupidly flying without insurance). But to deliberately kill someone, who, for all they know, might have been out exploring for months... that takes the biscuit.

There was a time when out exploring, and you saw a blip on your radar, you would be happy to see someone and join up, share a cup of lavian brandy, before heading on.

Now people who are exploring in open are going to be in panic mode when they see another player.

A damn shame that a single person can be so intent on causing other people misery they would do this. I feel sorry for them.

PS: You CAN name and shame on other forums though. Get yourself over to reddit, and let us explorers know who it is!

This needs to be implemented. How about you're able to put money aside to put a bounty on X player's head? If the kill hasn't been carried out in 24-168 hours (maybe only ticks down when player is in-game), then you get your money back. Else it goes to the player who killed the bounty. If anything, to someone off enough to be worth X amount dead can be a badge of honor, but you actually have to watch yourself while the bounty is on you.

Totally outrageous. I am all for grieifing in civilised space, as its part of the game, however, to destroy someone who has spent days getting to SagA and all that loss of data is just wrong. I must admit I have been expecting it, I am on my way back from Sag and have over 2,000 systems worth of data, 30 days out, and while I was there the buckyball was on so I always had an eye over my shoulder.

Whilst you cant name and shame here as has been stated there are other ways of letting us all know, and I can assure you when I get back and arm up my python the griefer will be griefed if I ever find him.

Thanks to the suggestions for posting elsewhere and so I can spread the warning out further. That's done, along with a name and shame. If anyone does manage to kill the CMDR in question please let me know and I'll try and arrange an appropriate gift.

This was actually one of my biggest fears in my trip to sag-a.
That's why I never went afk without going to main menu.
I'm paranoia as hell!
The last 5000 ly I went solo to rule out any risk.

Really sorry to hear this bro. I feel your pain.
I returned yesterday and I wouldn't have wanted to miss the 2 hours if selling the pages.

This sucks man!

Was this an example of the teleport hack? I can't imagine anyone who got to center of the galaxy by legitimate means would stoop to such low levels of behauvior...

Unfortunately in the sad world of online gaming it was only a matter of time until someone would eventually stoop to this kind of low brow childish behavior :(

I'm halfway back (14k from civilization) - if anyone feels uneasy/threatened/needs help, friend me and give me a heads-up. I've kept my Asp lightly armed and armoured. (For role-playing reasons, not because I'd have expected someone to pull that load of bull off.)

Sound more to me like someone who did the trip there but couldn't be bothered with the way back, hence the change of occupation. I believe he knows he'll die eventually which will be his ticket back to civilization were he can go back at his ramming occupation in populated systems.
EDIT: Mind you the journey inward is a feat in itself, especially for someone like this. So you might be right.
