warning - griefer in Sag A*

Might I suggest, staying out of the most popular systems??? ;)

It's a bit hard to do that if he's doing the Buckyball Run Sag A* though in't it? Has to be in open and Sag A* is sort of a requirement for BBR Sag A* run.

When I'm back in the bubble, think I'll go looking for the little 'petal' and give him a good bushwhacking (see what I did there).

Although I do feel extremely sorry for you, what you're offering right here would turn you into the nasty griefer that ruined your game.
This is probably why we won't see such a feature coming to the game, which sounds fair to me.

Did your kids have a laugh at least?

The "kill" on me has cost me about 30m CR in game (1000 scanned systems, plus insurance). Why shouldn't I be able to make their actions cost them a similar amount? This is pretty much the basis of justice in most societies isn't it? Someone does something disapproved of by the majority they suffer consequences. Unfortunately you'd probably find this sort of mechanism abused by the griefers too, just putting out bounties on people's heads for lulz... sigh.

My kids didn't laugh because they could see that I was rather unhappy about it, and laughing at other's misfortune isn't generally considered good manners.

I am not defending the person - they are the lowest of the low in my view - but let's be clear. They have not cheated. Cmdr ....... is right - it would be nice to be able to get the name out there, get a Bounty on their head, get a posse together, and cause some grief back.

Just write a nick to bounty hunters group on EDC facebook page. I am sure there is a few bounty hunters/explorers near Sgr A* with armed ships and they can take care of griefer.

That is truly awful, and I can't help but think it really is a griefer just there to annoy people. All that way...

Thanks for the warning though. Anyone in a 'conda with enough guns to dispatch this miscreant?

Have some rep as (minor) compo.

Im up for a bit of payback condo at the ready they need to be taught a hard lesson, not done any exploring yet but feel your pain cmdr

Rob

Surprise.

"- I heard, the Witchers have two swords. One for monsters and one for humans.
- You are in mistake. Both are for monsters"

- from the Witcher.
;)

It was inevitable I suppose, but now we will need to keep an eye out for other commanders, no more sitting back listening to heavy rock while scanning rocks lol.

I still feel i am worth more than 5m credits though. :(
So many assumptions here too... Who said it was only 1 griefer?

This is tragic and shocking and I feel really bad for Double Skulls ... but, you have to admit it's also a great (if deeply reprehensible) addition to the on-going "story" of the Elite Dangerous universe. What an extraordinary way to gain in-game infamy.

I'm going to propose (over in the Buckyball thread) that everyone chip in to fund a reward for the first person to take this pilot out. This will also add to the on-going "story". Sure it will give this person the fame they perhaps crave but that is inevitable now (wouldn't be surprised if this made the newsletter).

Relax, we do not need to go in paranoia.
I am listening rock, taking photos. Other commander need to interdict you, so you will not be startled, it is only better be prepared to run (and have good engines) ;)

Yeah, surprise at the obvious ridiculousness that Elite Dangerous brings to the table insofar as the mechanic of Crime and Consequence is concerned. One can only hope that the Devs address this issue sooner rather than later. Any attempt to justify this type of behaviour within the scope of the 'game' is wholly misguided and serves only to compound the absolute ignorance of those perpetrating the behaviour, never mind those actually condoning/excusing the behaviour.

Reprehensible is what it is.

Maybe fame is not what they crave...

Couldnt agree more. It has given me an incentive for when I get back. Lol, who said ED was boring.

Hm, i am not defending this behavior, in my opinion it is wrong, and i Think same as You, but i suppose we need to live with that.

For example, when you are exploring some region on Earth you can be griefed too. Even you are in the South Pole you can meet a bad guy. A big mistake in Elite exploration is the feeling of safety in empty space. This is very deceptive.

space is not happy pony wunderland. next time stay focused ...

i concur with your suggestion that "bad" behaviour needs to be punished more ingame/infiction though. other then that: you were not griefed and the other cmdr who killed you didnt do anything wrong. (premissed he didnt cheat/hack/exploit)

Agreed

Reprehensible and sad is what it is :(

If no exploits were used then there is nothing wrong here.
''Take control of your own starship in a cutthroat galaxy'' Says it all really.
If you venture out into the black without protection then <stuff> happens.

Yeah inclined to agree. Its always struck me as odd that people can travel thousands of light years away from populated space and never face any peril. Sad thing is the outrage from the 'explorers' in my view.
