Disagree.
Pirating would require the theft of cargo.
Technically no crime was committed.
Sag A*is 25000 light years from the nearest Jurisdiction and is classed as an anarchy system.
That someone would go to the effort to fly out there just to shoot people for no gain is entirely another matter of if it was an in game crime or not.

As above technically not murder
Nice river of tearsCongrats to whoever did it!
1. however annoyed you may be this isn't a griefer its someone who for whatever reason has turned pirate in Sag A*
2. This sort of play should be encouraged not discouraged the game is about blazing your own trail after all and if they want to kill you in Sag A* then that's an anarchy system..
3. You knew the risks when you set off for the Core....
4. It's Called Elite Dangerous not Elite Fluffy.....
5. It was only a matter of time before this happened I was talking with other cmdrs about how this would happen soon enough
6. It now becomes a game to remove said pirate from Sag A*
7. I've always said its far too easy to go to the core anyway regardless of the fact it takes you 2/3 weeks flying time
As I said, anarchy system, not possible to commit a crime.
Murder is an unlawful killing in game.
Otherwise killing a wanted ship is murder, killing a ship on the opposing side in a CZ is murder as they are too a deliberate choice and premeditated.
I was afraid of something like might happen. I mentioned it on the forums as a weird nightmare I had 2 months back. It was only a matter of time.
Im on my to Saggy A in "Annie-Conda" as soon as I get home from work. If anyone kills this clown shoe before I get there please post.
I have no chance in fighting off a anaconda but i assure you i will have fun whilst trying. Or just thrust out of range and taunt you...
I must stress that i have openly invited FD to check my logs to validate my traveling. I used no hacks/exploits to reach Sag A. From going to work and gym it took me roughly 5 days in real time to reach there.
It is true that Sagittarius A* has no authority governing it at the moment, so no laws to break, and no presence to enforce it.
Yet paradoxically, I feel it should need no enforcement by a single power, as given its currently understood role in the history of the Galaxy, it may well be the most significant single object in the galaxy. It should belong to everybody, a place for everybody to meet together and visit in peace, without permits, without prejudice, without malice.
Perhaps, with more people visiting the system now, it is time for the current human governments everywhere to recognise Sagittarius A* as a system in its own right and grant it Universal Protected Status due to its historical, natural and astronomical value? Specifically, in its role as neutral ground. It can then follow that any such attempts to defile the system with killings of innocent pilots result in a severe penalty: say, a prolonged Wanted period across ALL civilised human space?
Any thoughts? Something worthy of an official in-game petition?

So everyone is off because someone flew off in to the great unknown with no defensive capabilities, with no shields or weapons in open online play and paid the price?
Am I missing something?
I too fly a A-spec CobraMkIII, with a rack of beam lasers, shields and mirrored surface composite alloy. It was for pure RP reasons and was quite happy to sacrifice the jump range and now quite happy I did.
Are you Cmdr Rhodendron by any chance?
Yes, I thought that it seemed rather obvious who i was. If you look on page 6 you will see a screenshot of my right control panel in-ship displaying my CMDR name and current balance. If i die i will be at no loss regarding money and as i have already made it clear i wish to get back home to civilastion
Sounds good. The only other alternative I can think of is permit locking it to Elite explorers only
