TIP: Check the systems(s) that they are in... do not accept the mission unless one of the systems is a Anarchy system.... i.e. no law, no bounty :)

Since there are Frontier personnell present right now, maybe I can get one question answered to which I haven't found a real solution, so far:
How are people who haven't bought the game, yet, supposed to find the demo, when there's no download of the launcher available for unregistered people? And no, a link to hosting.zaonce.net isn't gonna cut it... A demo needs to be able to be found without wading through a game's forum to be any useful. ;)

Correct! You only get the bounty on your head because you are attacking him in a system he doesn't have the bounty in / or as you say its an Assassination mission, as long as the rewards outweigh the bounty on your own head its fine :)

Now we have powerplay and new factions will there be besides the Federation Empire and Aliance merchandise like pins keychain mugs etc also have new pins keychains mugs and ship decals for the new factions and independent powers ?

to show our allegiance for example having a federation decal and one for the faction you pledged allegiance to

To the best of my knowledge there is no official demo therefore no official way of downloading it. There is a link out in the wild to a demo but it was not released by Frontier, it was made available by a non-Frontier person/s.

There currently isn't a demo of the game available.

I'm guessing the RES's have been Nerfed as they were too easy to make money in. I used to make up to 2 million before I ran out of ammo. I only made 60K at the weekend so I don't bother now, just fight in CG - CZ's where you can make 500K - 1 Mill before you need a reload and re-arm. Still not decided whether I was better with 2 pulses in my Vulture in these CZs, you need more chaffs and banks on you but you can stay out a lot longer, my Pulse and canon mix runs out of canon rounds after about 500K CRedits kills, but it does kill big stuff quicker and frees up some Power and you need this I think as even these Mostly Harmless Condas are tough, almost as tough as the old Elite Condas!

They've not been deliberately 'nerfed' but they are more variable. There is an issue with the high and low intensity ones not scaling their difficuly correctly which is being looked into.

My question is based on that "demo" button that's in the launcher now. Apparently that wasn't as obvious as I thought. :p

Could we maybe have a little more indication of the legality of the assassination mission prior to accepting it?

The only ones I feel comfortable taking right now are the ones the state "Pirate Lord" in the text. The others are at best ambiguous? "Retiring" generals sounds like it's probably not legit? Same goes for killing celebrities?

Haven't you just answered your own question? Seems like it's relatively obvious given the description of the target.

And how about looking up the maps of the systems mentioned as the target's possible locations? Unless they're so rarely visited that there is absolutely no buyable map data for them whatsoever, the system maps will answer all legal questions.
