Patch Notes Update Elite: Dangerous 1.3.01 incoming

When they have to reset to a previous state - I can tell you from working in software - the release completely ruined the database. There was no fixing.... there had to be an unrecoverable state for those that attempted the bugged progression missions. Same for those with the hyperspace crash/unable to load issue.

These are what we would call 'showstoppers' - the release should have been cancelled until this was fixed (if it was unseen prior to the release - then there is a hole in the QA process); this would be marked as a failed release in my industry. :( Don't worry Frontier - we had one of those ourselves last week. Must have been bad mojo out (we hadn't had a failed release in YEARS prior to last week)......

I came to the same conclusion - 1.3 ruined the player database and they couldn't go back, probably didn't or can't take a snapshot of the database pre-1.3, or probably decided plunging ahead with 1.3 was their only viable option, and be damned the paying customers.

Also, this business about sending explorers back to the last station they safely docked at, upon their CMDR data getting corrupted during a Hyperspace jump?

Why not patch your game to not have the data corruption happen in the first place, FDEV?

So still no fix for drones then? Guess Mining is still one of the featured things still not viable to players.

You know guys, in BETA, ALLOT of the bugs addressed were highlighted yet you still went along with release... I think you really need to start listening to us guys testing, because i'm starting to feel like I shouldn't bother. Why test it when I can just list bugs when it's released..

Yes, I know allot of you are going to complain about my complaining... but hey.. you all know BETA is where this kind of thing should be done, not in release. We've had players who joined the game after BETA of the main game, that have been stuck not able to log in for the past 4 days, without any official response from ED. Everyone expects some teething issues, but it messed up missions, factions, drones, even pay outs have been effected, and now there have been rollbacks. All this could have been avoided with a little more testing, and allot more listening.

I sent off tickets about missions and drones before release.. and when I logged on saturday morning to see the game had been released and there were still issues, well I would like to say I was shocked.. but in all honesty, I wasn't. And that's the real disappointment.

Maybe it's another one of the unlisted fixes on the incomplete change log.

Well, this may actually be enough to make me quit. Setting me back six ranks? No, no, no. It's not like I'm going to bother doing any more missions. Sorry about your glitch that you feel made ranking too easy; please don't make it my problem.

Do something else (in game) for a while and then come back to naval ranking. Maybe go exploring for a week or try powerplay.

it seems evident that those who had no problems will not have any rank rollback
however , if that happens ... it would be really frustrating!

You really think it wouldnt be "really frustrating" for those who are affected? serious?
imagine this. you succeeded in several rank missions. 2 of 4 were buggy but you achieved a higher rank. the mission did cause predictable bounties, repairs, costs, not to mention the TIME.
wo we are downgraded to a pre v1.3 mil rank but wont get back time, clean records(wiping bounties etc) and all the spent money caused by the missions?!

and y the damn f... they didnt tested better before going live? such major changes to the gameplay are damn sensitive. and if THEY fail they do PUNISH US?! they should work overtime to fix every damn account's problems by hand. that way they would learn how imporant it is to test better before going live.

Thanks for the patch. It sounds like the FSD jump crash to menu has been fixed, which was the biggy in my opinion. Can you also confirm whether the resetting of players back to the last successfully docked station, will also apply to explorers? I am currently about 4KLY away from home and I don't want to find myself relocated. The fact that I have been having hyperspace jumping bugs makes me sound like a prime candidate for the reset, based on the patch notes wording.

It sounds to me like the reset is only applicable to those players who, after crashing to main menu were unable to reconnect with the "problem retrieving Commander data" message.

Yea I am not an Explorer but with the news that just one server glitch could send you back to your ''last docked safely station'' is absolutely CRAZY !
It does not imbue me with any sense of ambition to leave my first 50LY stretch of space I landed in 6 months ago, especially knowing the glitch may happen at any time and the purest idea of ''Exploring'' is to actually leave ''Inhabited space'' by it's sheer definition that means there will ''be no stations to dock at'' so you have just gone and made Exploring as dangerous as a 500 barreled revolver that you shoot each time you press the FSD key.....not good.

fix broken cockpit hole not rendering whats behind it? No? ...great. A blind spot in the middle of the screen is really a blast to play with.

I have been in the void for 50 days. If I crash out and get transported back to where I started and lose all my data, then the Oxford English Dictionary will have to redefine the term "Hissy Fit", and you wont be seeing me on these forums again as ED will be magically transported to the waste bin.
Its end times if Whiterose rage-quits!

Fix for route plotting: route isn't cleared anymore each time a target is locked. Route is now cleared only when plotting a new route, reaching the end of the current route or when jumping in another system which is not the next destination on the current route
Various performance and reliability improvements, including significant improvements for hyperspacing and exploration scanning

Brilliant! I'll get back to playing now (currently enroute to the core). Hopefully the regular crashing has also been resolved too.

You've got to be kidding me? Not the last system we jumped from (which is how I read it at a glance) but all the way back to what is effectively the start of your exploration?

IF that is the case, that's shonky guys.

The last docked location is the safest location we can automatically return you to, the bug basically caused a loss of your known location. However we can access your last jumps so we'll move the 90 odd affected commanders to their last jump that we can access which should put them close to where they were. This will happen sometime this afternoon, so hold off playing the game until this is done! Otherwise you will be magically teleported.

I appreciate the suggestion, but that's not really the point.

I spent some time performing actions that gained me ranks. Too easy? Probably. But still, not the point - these ranks gave me no advantage; they're there to give players a new "shiny" and make them feel rewarded.

Something in the method of ranking was deemed a bug, apparently, and so - what - the right thing to do is go back and take away those things from players? No way.

The right thing to do is fix the bug and move forward. I really don't care to grind more for something that may once again be deemed a mistake and be taken away.

RIP explorers. Still, it's a fix, and fixes are good.

Keep it up :)

No, this isn't a fix, this isn't good, and they should NOT keep it up.

This is an extremely lazy workaround that was not thought out at all, and is messing the game up more than fixing it. If they DO keep it up, don't expect to be seeing me or a lot of other people around for much longer.

Let's just wait...and we'll see. I hope it will be literaly as the changelog text...
I'll will be angry too, since I grinded 2 days to get the rank of Prince (I was Earl) and I was stuck because no other rank mission popped since yesterday, with nearly TONS of rep and normal mission achieved in various imperial systems....
