The Powerplay discussion thread.

Such emotive words... You mean some negativity by a vocal minority....

Of course. Because everybody who does not share your point of view is a vocal minority?
Little hint: there were polls made. The results were clear. But of course, only vocal minorities do vote, so your attitude can't be harmed.

Am I the only player who feels that Powerplay was an epic amount of effort from Frontier, on something that is optional to most players? They could have worked on better missions, exploration multiplayer etc, instead we have some weird online risk which seems to serve nothing more as a cash sink for rich players.

In the current implementation, i feel just the same. Some (but not utterly much) manpower was wasted for coding this thing. (And luckily very little manpower and brainpower was used up in designing it. ) Either of them could be used in a better way. The shame is, that i was looking forward for it, but the flaws just go too deep.

i have found a good thing about powerplay, i have only 400 merits so far, not even bothering too much, i just deliver my quota if i am going that way, i refuse to buy them, no i am just continuing my 5m cr/h trade runs as usual.
I only joined a power for the discounts initially, not realizing i didn't even need to, but then i do fancy that fancy weapon.
So that good thing about powerplay, i keep getting interdicted and chased now by other powers. exciting.. adds a bit of danger to my boring trade runs.

They want you all to take part in power play, not harass poor traders for peanuts of cash. There, I said it, where is my chocolate medal?

I already saw a notorious ex-pirate on youtube, shooting cobras and pythons out of the sky - left, right and centre in a wing of like-minded individuals and calling it a new way of "social interaction". :)

I'll give this to powerplay, it made me embark on another deep space expedition to escape all the politics. I forgot how much I love exploration in elite. I'll be back in settled space in a couple of months, hopefully PP will be a bit more interesting by then. Oooo wassat? An ammonia world? Intriguing.... *beep beep boop boop*

I don't think 500 voters out of 550,000 purchases is really a good basis for representation, good for representing the forum-goers perhaps but certainly not the game in general.

I personally do not blame pirates for taking drastic actions due to the patch, pirates are already amoral, with some push and shove it is easy to venture into the immoral category. Though let us focus on solving the issue for that not everyone wishes to participate in power play. There was an earlier poll about people's attitude toward powerplay, and surprisingly the people who enjoy powerplay immensely and those that disregard it are of very similar percentage.

I personally enjoy powerplay outside of this particular issue, but there are certainly piracy to be had outside of 20 cargo for pirates who dislike or enjoy powerplay.

We are here to discuss and solve the issue to gain FD's attention, let us focus on that and that alone.

Hmm, as said earlier - i see three options.

a) Stations shot those wo litter their immediate vicinity with garbage, afterwards collector drones get rid of the stuff (harsh, but i never cared too much about those who do things like that for the sole reason to annoy people)

b) Station won't shoot, but they still have a handy stock of collector drones that either carry the garbage away or vaporize it directly

c) Make a difference between allowed tonnes to be dropped arround station vs. allowed tonnes in all other areas

Options a and b would of course lead into removal of that limit in all areas. Details what counts as "garbage" could be also sorted out of course, in case it would hit people that exchange palladium for whatever reason.

Just my 2 cent
Cheers

But pirates aren't rich people so the profitability should be lower.

I have said for a long time illegal and stolen goods need splitting up and one of the factions should be a pirate faction who offers unscannable cargo bays that hold less cargo but slow or negate the police scans.

I like piracy but what kills this game more is the opinion every profession should be equal.

I personally have tried trading and find it dull. I've tried piracy but am rubbish with the interdictor and my chosen profession would be a smuggler if the system worked (I think it almost improved with 1.3 then people backtracked) - flying under the radar trading dodgy goods and ferrying old men with young boys who want to avoid the police... Wait suddenly star wars looks weird!

If you're getting 10% of a T7 cargo for nothing I don't think really there's anything wrong with that.
It's not about pirates making as much money as a trader, it's about not being arbitrarily limited to 20 tons of cargo at one time.

2 questions about PowerPlay (no rewards)

Hi

I've pleded to Arissa L. Duval.
First : When I kill an enemy in a controled system (interception) I've no merits points. Is this normal?
Second : When I deliver reports in a submission system, I earn 1,000 Cr / 10 tons. But the money does not appear in my account

Thank you for helping

This 20 cargo limit is bloody stupid. Are pirates that pull over a T-7/T-9/Python/Anaconda really expected to ask the pilot to kindly wait until the first 20 is scooped before dropping another 20??? I swear to god, it seems that one arm of FD doesn't talk to the other! I TRADE!! I DON'T PIRATE!! I THINK THIS IS G RIDICULOUS!
I was reading the other thread, where people started suggesting going postal. This wouldn't work, it wouldn't stand out. Any Eve players would remember the mass riots. I suggest the same. Blockade Leesti. Make our voices heard!

I'm with Jordan, and just to reiterate what I said on the first attempt at this, the 20T limit is an artificial tool to (likely) stop the lag issues if dumping occurs around stations, this is worthy in itself, ie the lag issue., but to effectively handicap a valid "fringe" role is to limit the immersiveness of the game. If space is big, traders take their chances based on that, pirates live on the chance of prey, and bounty hunters on top of that. I really can't see why prirates would bother to continue on their chosen profession if the limit is artificially bound. So we're left with minor pew pew pirates, bounty hunters moaning about easy/hard the NPC wanteds are. Yes traders will benefit, slightly, although if I were a pirate, I could see that 20t isn't a lot so the thanks-for-all-the-fish-too-buddy *BANG* incidents will increase for a while too.
The thread doesn't need smarty one-liners, the problem is, as others have said, the big-fix that has crimped a valid role in the game.

POWERPLAY not for me

Im cheesed off with powerplay....slow progression....constant play to ensure rating stays........I don't have the time to play for hours maintaining my rating...I have other commitments too.

naaa....back to old faithful I think....Solo open play

Great idea, would be all in for something like that. Too many players simply don't read this forum or reddit and i guess in some cases they are not aware that their doing is.. well, counterproductive.

Here's my suggestion. There can be no more than 20 tons per instance within 20k of a station. Outside that limit, there can be as much as there was before. Now having said that, I do realize that will take some skull sweat and work programming it. But it would solve the problem and make it better all around.

Powerplay cycle end time?

For future reference, when does the weekly cycle end (UK based Cmdr) please?

I think it is supposed to be Thursday evening.

Sunday evening would seem more sensible though.

Or no cycle end at all for more immersion.

Who thought that a weekly totting up of galactic points seemed like a good idea?
