The last 2kly are really frustrating now. Routes now continue to plot, even if you exit the galaxy map. Plotting a broken route with 1 frame per second isn't really all that fun, Frontier!

Don't exit the Galmap.

Any time the plot takes more than 10s, pick another star that's a different distance away (be patient with the frame rate) and tell it to plot that instead, if it plots really, really quickly then that is your magic number.

Esvandiary's thread somewhere on these forums helps you to calculate your magic number, the exact answer that his algorithm might still be slow plotting, but it will be very close, so just check 1-2 LY either side of that distance.

I'm not sure of the link to the thread, but just Google for Esvandiary core plotting and Google will show you the way.

As soon as Drakhyr stops enabling my laziness, I promise I'll get back to work. You know, sometime...

Well, I'm now away from home for the next few days, and I've emailed you my file. I won't be in a position to do any updates before Friday, so I'm hoping you'll have caught up by then :D

made it...

Alrighty, I'm finally there... AND I'm not dead from overheat? yet..
The essentials should arrive as a PM shortly...

Here's the things for the crowd!

Since I cannot possibly let my friends Serraphix and Chance- beat me at something, I'm submitting my intent to race :p Fair warning, I do plan on departing in less than 24 hours.

CMDR: Brayzure
Ship: Asp
Ship Name: Valiant

Of course, I have goals. :)

- Goal 1: <24 hours
- Goal 2: <18 hours
- Goal 3: <12 hours
- Goal 4: Top Asp time (like that will happen...)

Seeya at Sadge!

EDIT: T-Minus 12h

If only I had your time and money... Youths!

CMDR: Andrew Dermott
Ship: Diamondback Scout
Ship Name: Saoirse

First time making a run longer than 150LY; should be fun, but I want that bumper sticker.
Might be a couple weekends before I get the chance. I plan to take a nice camping trip on Earth before I head out.

I would definitely recommend taking a scroll through this thread to see all of the great advice people have delegated to others.

Oh wow. I may take it upon myself to compile an advice list for our new explorers.

That would be awesome.
I'm not above reading a 126 page thread, but it's going to take a while.

I've read the "navigating near the core" advice thread. Sounds like my biggest concern going in is actually making sure I'm near enough scoopable stars that I don't end up going cold..? Be a shame to lose my Scout.

After lots of crashes and a bit of rage from Serra, accompanied by having to go to work, I've finally made it. Serra and I will have some selfies once he wakes up :p

Edit: Noticed I'm first Diamondback Explorer. Woot!

You could wait until BB-8, depending on the race style Haulers might be really competitive.

That was part of why I had been keeping her, but it was mostly because, well... while she was still the "Fastest Hunk of Junk in the Galaxy", it would have been fun to bust her out for future runs.

Now, I'm probably a lot less likely to do that since she's no longer particularly noteworthy.

That, and I am seriously looking at running the next Buckyball in an Imperial Courier, depending on the race format. Aside from being dead sexy, fast, and having a pretty impressive jump range when stripped down, this is the easiest ship to speed dock that I have ever flown. I really, really wish she had been available for Buckyball 7.

I've got one minor question for Rankaze and FoxTwo regarding PP (sorry Z, I think this bit is kind of Buckyball related though) :

Were you playing in open or solo? I know that FoxTwo normally plays solo and I also know that there's a lot more NPCs spawned in open.

I don't think PP should affect the organisation of Buckyballs at all, it's up to each runner if/who they pledge to. I'm staying independent for the moment, but I am interested to see what effect it has on competitors in the next race.

I'm really glad they tweaked the collision fines.

Sorry it took me so long to respond, I haven't really had time to either play or do forums much the last couple of days.

That said, my experiences have been in a combination of Open and Solo (I play about a 50/50 split based on my mood). My gut feeling is that I have been interdicted more in solo, but that may not be accurate as I have not kept notes on it. I have started keeping notes on it as of tonight, but right now, my data sample is far too small to be at all scientific.

I totally agree that the Buckyball Run should not take Powerplay into account. My only cocnern is making sure the competitors are aware that they may have problems with interdictions if they are pledged. As I have noted before, being chased by the law is sort of part of the Buckyball spirit anyway. The only exception I might make is to suggest that perhaps we should consider avoiding the Powers' HQ systems themselves as checkpoints or destinations as the interdiction rate there seems to be very high.
