So you think it's just simply better to let them play on Open and Private with just their xbox community? I dunno man, it would add and give them more to play with and give them a reason to even pay for that subscription. It's just bad design.

Are you actually reading any replies? It's not Frontier's design decision, it's Microsoft's restrictions.

Nope, wasn't my argument at all.

"less players to blow up in open than pvpers would like." << notice, in bold, I say pvpers.

I can back you up in that although I always play in Open, I have never fought a PvP battle (except for consensual duelling) or been interdicted.
I am certainly not out for blood, but welcome the fact that there is danger about.

Other players threatening you can actually turn into some of the most fun you will ever have in games like this even if you don't usually like pvp (if it turns out well).

You, Cmdr, are getting a +1 rep for the most ugly music video I have seen in a very, very, very long time. It has a good smirk factor, and one or two chuckles in there. But, OH, the pain of watching it all...

It is one of the internet's Rites Of Passage. My son, today you are a man. An aggravated man. Huzzah!

Well you did ask a vague question. If you want a real answer fine, I like interacting with players, sometimes with lasers, sometimes with words, sometimes in competition, sometimes with actions, and sometimes all 4. More players means more interaction for good or ill.

Thanks, so the old "more players to blow up" argument is still valid then. No-one has said it's the only reason but you challenged it as though it was completely irrelevant when it isn't.

Noooooottt exactly that "more players to blow up" argument, why are you so petty and adamant about it? So what if he wants to shoot people? Calm down son. Sometimes, you gotta shoot mans, sometimes you don't.

Also, they agreed to the decisions to have it ported to the Xbox One Consoles, so they are also partly to blame. Again, it's a problem they setup of having them completely separate from the PC/MAC users, but still impact the galaxy (PP, CG, BGS, etc) still? Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no that's not cool, just let them play with us in Open/Private and boom, there's a valid reason as to why they should pay a subscription fee to play in Open/Private. Right now, I feel kinda sympathetic for them, because they aren't necessarily getting a good deal, regardless of CQC (Which should have been on release for the PC). It's all very sloppy.

And with that, I call for the new: The Solo vs Open vs Groups: The Platforms edition, thread.

I mean, at least DUST 514, while it did have some impact on the game EvE, didn't necessarily impact the game, just the planets they were expanding into. The model complimented the Original game, since Elite: Dangerous doesn't have this, it just makes sense to give them all the tools and things we have instead and let them play with us. Especially they have to pay extra for a subscription.
Its not FDs job to sell Xbox Live subscriptions, its Microsfts job. FD has nothing to do with it.

Well, they both dropped the ball on that respect to sell Xbox Live subscriptions. I mean, putting aside the PvP, Power Play, CGs, etc. it becomes the questions of:

Are they getting a good deal, and can they also play with us like the MAC users are now? If it isn't, is it fair to the PC and MAC users and is it fair for the Xbox One users?

For you it is, for others it is, for some it is not, that is what I find so confusing, people seem to not be able to grasp the concept that not everyone thinks like you do or that they even if someone enjoys the same game as you they don't enjoy all the same aspects of it.

i really dislike the interconnection between solo and open, it just don't feel right and i would like it gone, especially now since PP has been introduced,
but i also realize that what what the enemy can do me in solo i can also do them, and that makes the system fair so i can't make a case against it.

sucks to be me sometimes, im to damn reasonable.

^Very well said^ ^,^ and it is always nice when everyone see's reason.

As for the X-box separate form everyone else argument, besides the patch, gold/silver/ Borg Microsoft controling aspect of it, I believe the other aspect is while for PC/MAc you can have either keyboard or Joystick or both and have extreme flexibility of control, the x-box, i don't own one so I can't confirm) you have the controller only and a lot less flexibility of control which puts them at a distinct disadvantage against PC/Mac players.

Do you really think Microborgsoft would give up that kind of control?

Powerplay vs offline mode

Well, i dont know what others think, but in my opinion powerplay is meaningless until its playable in offline and private groups.
What did you all think about it?

EDIT
sry offline = solo mode for me:pP

Repeating your position that as XBox One players are required (by Microsoft) to pay for XBox Live Gold membership to play the game in multi-player mode will not make it Frontier's problem. It's part of Microsoft's business model for the XBox One and therefore outwith Frontier's control. It's like saying that it's unfair for players to need to pay for electricity to power the computer to be able to play the game....

As to another thread - the one we have is fine....

pfftthahahahahahahahahahahahhahaha

Maybe I mistakenly called you,"pretty bright". I'm pretty sure this is a microsoft restriction for there X-box licensing. I can't think of one single reason FD would want to make them separate, as a matter of fact I'm pretty certain they would have liked to put them together, just as much as you would to have them do that.

Just ask yourself, exactly what would they have to gain by separating them? I can't think of one single reason why FD wouldn't want to do this. Use your brain.

Damn Robert ya beat me to the punch. LOL

I agree that the whole paying for Xbox Live thing is kinda stupid, but it has nothing to do with FD or ED. Of course a Game gets affected by it when it has online and goes on Xbox, but that does not make it the fault of the Game. Its also not the fault of the People who have a Xbox and Xbox live and would like to play ED, giving them a chance to play it is good.

Haha, good point, they really dropped a huge ball to rake in more subscribers I suppose.

I believe it's just poorly being implemented and again, returns to the age old problem of Solo, Open and Groups, except this one is entirely worse. I mean, this isn't necessarily one sided deal, they both had to have agree to making terms and guidelines, then put it up for the game, both parties are technically at fault.

Edit: Hell, it may have just been Microsoft spearheading the discussion, but they should have at least understood how the game is going to be impacted.

Talk about a loaded topic:

Offline does not exist and probably never will.
Powerplay can currently be played in solo and private group.

Ya just need to ignore the ones you can't see, and play the damn game. It really is just that simple.

No, xbox Live sub has nothing to do with the diffrent modes. Its a Microsft thing, the only thing FD could have done is not releasing the Game on Xbox and then probably also not on PS4 (dunno how much Sony can be talked with about that and PS+).

Nobody would win then, FD gets less customers and many people who would like to play ED don't get the opportunity to play it.
