Wishblend. You have a lot of frist hand experience.

I this video by Murp: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmfcAqK48po

I don't se any purple blinks at all. Only green. Is it because it is to close or something else.

I didn't see any of the colour pulses as it was too close, but I did see some of the cell banks (the 8 legs things sticking out below the head) glowing.

Here is a test for ratking and mrtee.

When you deploy in a system, how many of those cell banks light up?

Is it a small number / large number or just ambient lighting?

If they light up on their own, does he number change each time in the same system and different systems?

Hi CMDR's,

I have a theory. It may have already been tested but bare with me.

In the old games (correct me if im wrong) i believe that the Thargoids pulled players out of hyperspace. If this is true, have people just tried keeping the UA in their cargo hold for as long as possible.

My theory is that as long as you have the UA in your cargo hold maybe theres a change you will get "interdicted" or pulled out of witchspace or whatever.
Maybe even jumping to a certain system or something?

Anyway, this is my 2 cents. I would love to know everyone's thoughts.

Cheers all.

Fky safe o7

As far as we know the thargoids are not in the game yet, also we don't have proof that the thargoids made the UA although a lot think hat.

Also I have been flying all over space with the thing in my hold and I should have been randomly pulled out already if that was the case, but keep the ideas coming.

Too bad we can't jettison one in witch space...

I haven't tried putting the UA together with other canisters, but I did try putting Tea and Coffee together the other night.
It was afwul.

Hah!

Too bad you fixed the typo, I almost felt an Abbott and Costello routing coming on...

I'm about to drop an Unknown Artifact in Witch Space?
- Which space?
Witch space.
- That's what I asked you! Which space?
Yes!
- What?
What?
- What kind of artifact are you dropping?
"Unknown"
- I give up. I don't know. And I don't care!

Just to throw more rubbish into the thread....

The "head" of the UA seems to be a smoothed truncated cube, or truncated hexahedron. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truncated_cube

It has 14 faces, 6 octagonal and 8 triangular. It has 36 edges and 24 vertices.

====================

By "pushing" the triangular faces deeper, you can turn it into a cuboctahedron!

AKA a Coriolis space station!

AMAZE!!

Also here's some concept art from the Frontier's 11th ED newsletter :

And, most of all, it seems to have a kind of "mouth" or "door" that seems awaiting to be opened in some way.

So, if there is some kind of in game sound that can interact with the UA to make it open? I mean, perhaps we need to put it near something that is producing a particular sound, that make it open. Listen was the hint. perhaps Sound is the key.
Any ideas about in game sounds? Putting an UA near a Nav Beacon f.e.? But I think it has already been done... don't remember right now...
Other relevant sounds? This game is full of sounds!
Remember "Close Enconters": di-da-di-DI-daaaaaaaaaaaaaa. And it opens.... ;)

Or

d) All of he above

If that was the answer, I would simply stop.

Either we need to study it more visually or audibly
OR
There is no more information to be gained from it and the next phase is to find the location where we MAY be able to progress
OR
The next phase is not location specific and we have not used it in an appropriate way

Aye maybe it is actually a space station for a tiny race of beings?

elite-dangerous-artefact-620x349.png

I don't know of that has been done and/or suggested before but has anyone ever tried being killed by one? As in leave it in the cargo hold and destroy your ship? Just a wild guess.

AhAhAHAHa! Mini-Thargoids!
Jokes apart, my Sound theory is a serious thing! :D
The UA produces strange sounds to be listen to: what if it reacts to sounds as well?

Could be worth to sacrifice a ThrowWinder for that, but I don't know if it is worth to destroy an UA... there are so few of them... how many, two left?

so maybe the malfunctions when a ua is in your ship are the little people trying to take over your ship :)

This is making more sense than any theory so far I think!

So it's a Leprechaun space station, and when you take it onboard they're taking useful bits from your modules! :)

Jettison some gold near the UA and maybe they will all start launching their ships! :p

An (not so) new approach for you again:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=162998&p=2512751&viewfull=1#post2512751

>"the first thing to do in my opinion" How about find/demand new UA's first, Sir?
If the last two are gone the mystery is accomplished.

I'm not to be able to relate to the requests for hints as not enough toys are on the table.
Again only for one or two player and the rest watch Youtube & Twitch? Thank's then I'm out ...

I've meant it a little bit more abstract. If you look for a cipher, you search for a pattern.

Just think about how enigma was "cracked". The pattern was "Heil..." at the end of each message. Something that was in nearly all messages and made it by far easier to crack the code.

I was not talking about general plans for us all... :D

I'm also not sold on the statistical approach, but then I wasn't sold on the Morse either at first, so what do I know?

Given the lack of any leads I do think any avenue is worth a peek until we get a LITTLE STEER FROM FD.

Oh oops did I have my caps lock on?

The things about that approach is that the statistics just suggests it's not random. The essence of it is traveling around, looking for it to show more greens than purple. That's a lot simpler for someone like me (who needs a chart & a 2x slowdown to hear the Morse & about 5 playthroughs to actually get the message). Let's not completely discount it yet but also entertain other ideas.

Hi guys I have been following these thread with great interest and you guys are doing some truely great work.

One thing has struck me though, when put near a SAP 8 Core there was a noticeable effect on the UA, there does not seem to have been any further follow up on this.

Have tests been carried out with multiple cores (8 or more looking like it might have an effect)? Did the sound of the UA change when the core was with it or just the visuals? Maybe these cores are the batteries needed to make this thing run.

My problem is Sap 8 containers are hard to come by. I've never seen one in-game myself & have never seen one on the commodities market. Which leaves me, with a UA that's already trying to eat its way out of the hold, trying to pirate other ships (& risk destruction) to get one. Then repeat as many times as is needed to prove/disprove this effect. I'm not saying "No" so much as I'm saying "It's not within my means". I'm literally just trying to stay alive, baby this thing & take it places to test theories.

The NPC interdictions every 6-7 systems aren't really helping either. They spawn in SC knowing what's in my hold & start interdicting ASAP. I've been able to shake most (only submitted to one due to proximity to a star) but ugh.

You are doing great.
Where arre you going tonight?

Try to get some close up videos if you can. To see the lights on the end of some of the12 pods.

I will try to check old videos for this.

I can get Sap 8's, got one in my hold right now.

I *was* stockpiling them a while back, but the 300,000 fine for illegal goods on docking was a bit too much so got rid. =(

Actually I'm looking at a mission for one now, so could probably re-get a few if that's useful.

And when it works, I"ll shout over the comms "I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT WORKED! GET 'EM BOYS!" & proceed to fly in circles, not shooting anything until they destroy me.

It does rotate like one.

Actually, I was testing this last night. When you dump the UA from the hold, it tumbles & spins for a bit, getting slower & slower until it stops & holds a fixed position in space. What's weird is that that's different behavior than when I jettisoned the Soontill Relic cannister from my hold in Soontill (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQ-T7590WeA). Unfortunately, I tried repeated drops in the same place to see if it was pointing the same way (compass needle) & it does not. It does seem to stop rotating though.
