Hi, long time follower first time poster...
May I propose an experiment?
If the UAnauts would be able to make recordings of the artifacts in various systems along as straight a line of systems as possible (up to maybe 4 although 3 may do it) and further recordings along a line perpandicular to the first (at whatever angle suits). The larger the length of the lines, the better i think.
If such recordings already exist (post patch1.3) then I must have fallen behind in my reading, please direct me to them.
I'm prepared to chip in some cargo of their choosing at a location of their choosing to pay for repairs, time, effort and suchlike.
I shall continue to follow the investigations with interest and appreciation for their time and sacrifices either way.

everytime i read that "vespine" on the container, my mind fills with pictures from another game...
Yes, i like it, too. The implication that it could be some kind of number system that was also used by the maya seems a pretty interesting thing because it would imply that the aliens who've send us this artefact also visited earth some thousand years ago. It feels like it could be something a game designer could consider entertaining.
But at the moment i'm nonetheless unable to get anything useful from it. Even if the symbols are very close to this maya symbols i found no numbers that mean anything to me. I'm also red-green blind and cannot see if there are any dots that stand out in color. And since nobody wants to help im not really able to go on.

Especially the down->top/left -> right order should be right. The Top->Down thing is not so easy.
And i tried it in both directions. The problem is: you can interpret them very differently.
What numbers do you get?

- Tried a mining laser
- Tried keeping one in a hold with toxic waste (I don't think cargo can degrade other cargo can it?)

Golly. Did that happen about the same time as the UA's started showing up? As it, do you think it's disappearance is directly connected?

I strongly belive we should start bottom up (lines on the bottom) counting the 1s then go up for the 20s.
I think you have most of the individual numbers correct, but the are not digits. We must put the individual numbers together using base 20.
It's a bit tricky, but well described in the example with the orange boxes.
I hope this helps a bit. It's dificult to expalain when I can't post pictures.

I'm not sure. Yes, the UA uses morse. Yes, its part of the voyager message. But why would the thargoids or whoever need the voyager to learn morse? I mean...this sounds just not reasonable.

They already had diplomatic contact in FFE. So they know how to talk to us.
And if its another species... im sure there are easier ways to learn a language than intruding a core world system and stealing an ancienct chunk of steel floating through space(without knowing it is there).
