This is the push what ED needed soo much. Now the game will get the attention of the public as the game deserves. Congratz to FD for the perfect timing with the GamesCom.

DB starts talking about his love of exploration but the only actual gameplay mentioned is more pew-pew opportunities in the bubble.

I would have, but I'm too lazy to trawl through most threads for the info I need. It's far quicker, and more fun, to make a post then read the sarcastic replies! ;) :D

My problem with the trailer is the voices over comms and crackly static. When does that appear in ED? Would be great for immersion (as well as animated video comms when docking or reading bulletin boards, etc.).

Looking forward to testing this baby. Cheers FD, I've clambered back on board thanks to a boost of optimism.

Yeah it would have been nice to have more details in the trailer. It was pretty bare bones by the previous trailer's standards, and more of a teaser than a full on trailer.

Which is why the video is named:

"Elite Dangerous: Horizons Teaser"

Not seeing what the confusion (nor some self entitlement) is here.

The "expansion" will effectively be Elite Dangerous 2.

Players new to the game will be able to buy it for X amount. Those already in game will be able to upgrade for X - N amount.

Those who will no doubt still feel cheated that new players will get it for less than they pay overall are forgetting that they already the game and the base game will be a year old.

Same as someone who buys a Game Of The Year version of something. They get all the expansions and the base game for less than the individual costs.

To be honest i feel bit cheated for the price of the "Upgrade" which is around 37,50€ with the discount, i mean thats a bit mutch in my opinion for people who already have the base game and therefore only getting the planetary stuff, while new players get everything for around 12,49€ more.

That being the case Michael, if we are purchasing the "FULL GAME" again, why then do we not get access to another commander slot?

The product is Elite Dangerous: Horizons, if you already have Elite: Dangerous then you receive a discount for that. If you don't then you receive a discount on the original game for the same value.

There's no need to trawl, when you can skip through the Dev posts :p

From the announcement:

We're beginning with airless, rocky worlds – places where a great deal of new gameplay can take place. These are planet-sized sandbox environments, with all sorts of things to discover hidden on them. You'll find surface starports, crashed ships, mineral deposits, hidden bases and more.

Fantastic news! And with the weapons on the little buggy shown here, I assume there'll be something to shoot at as well - at least at some point down the line. :)

I really hope we get low gravity effects - so the buggy can go zooming up. It will need some mechanics to help when its flipped over.

...that's coming much later

My goodness! Is this a new variation on the concept of "soon" that we've not seen from Mr Brookes before? I think we need to grade them, although "much later" looks like its going to be at the end of the soon-ness list.

Buzzing about the announcement. Must...try...to....do...some...work...before....3pm!

Michael

But new players get both games for £30 less than we did Michael. They pay £40 and get the whole thing, we already paid £39.99 and now have to pay another £29.99. It's not right, new customers shouldn't be treated better than existing ever.
