Abandoned [RELEASE] Trade Computer Extension

I'm not about to read through 3400+ posts so I have to ask, sorry. Will there be a version for OpenOffice? I feel like there'd be significantly larger user base if you used free software. If people don't use open office they use google docs, and if they need something specific or got excel through some package they'll have excel. I think it's really rare for people to actually go out and buy excel or office without a specific need, especially the average gamer. I'd use the crap out of this if it worked on open office...

Not according to Eventure. I looked through his stuff and there's a bunch of stuff that uses Excel specific (office-specific really) stuff that has no useful analog in OpenOffice.
Or, in other words, it would entail writing an entirely new product just for OO.

neither the market connector nor the open office version will we be possible.
for the market connector no official statements are otu, so this could be relating in a ban. eventure's waiting for an official api.
OO is just impossible 'cause of VBA-Script.

Please dont remove the "Classic UI" - I love it and its more ELITE-retro-futuristic-style than Icon-based-UI. IMHO!

I'm with NickSick, please don't remove the "ClassicUI".

+1 for keeping Classic UI.

Remember what Coca-Cola did in the 80s with New Coke?

I agree, I only use Classic UI and don't want a load of icons floating around the screen.

Rob

Yeh please leave the classic (if it an't broke don't change it) this has to be the best add on there is.:D

Okay, okay it will stay, as it is. There are pros and cons with the Classic UI, but you all like it, i wont remove it.

Huh. Just found another bug.

Thought I'd see what the 'Compact UI' looked like to see if it was worth joining the march to keep the 'Classic UI' as I didn't even realise there were two options.

If you don't have Elite running (I've not got my Hotas and everything hooked up atm and just wanted to look something up in TCE so I don't know if it happens with Elite running or not) and you have the TCE in 'Compact UI' and try to use the 'Panels' window then TCE crashes. 'Classic UI' seems fine and works properly so no clue why that happens.

First:

Run-time error '380':

Could not set the Value property. Invalid property value.

Found the issue, thanks for reporting.

You only have to look into the FAQs. There is the answer.

Have you ever considered using elite dangerous marked connector for this instead of taking screenshots? link: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteTraders/comments/38o255/elite_dangerous_market_connector/

This app and other similar ones are not clearly allowed by FD to use by trading tools like TCE. We have to wait for an official word by FD on this.

Yes i have Office 365 32bit with the 32bit access runtime listed in pre reqs. I have tried reinstalling office, using office 2007, re installing windows, waiting 2 days to make sure i haven't missed any updates ect ect still getting the run time error 5 each time. No updates are available through win10 windows update or direct from office.

I'm struggling with this also. I too have patched Office to the latest version 15.0.4745.1001, 32bit Office 2013 Part of Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus (courtesy of my employers). I've downloaded and installed the run-time linked on the OP's post I've got everything working except the OCR link. When I press commodity > scan pricesd > clean scan... it says "Processing Paused" in the top right corner and then when I click on any part of the TCE device, it crashes, offers "end" and "Debug" options among others. It's Run-time Error 5 and debug gives TCE.xlsm - OCR_Data (code) with the .TextFilePlatform = -535 line highlighted.

I have sympathy for Eventure. He's created a great thing here, but I'll not worry any further if I can't get it to work automatically with OCR. I can still make use of TCE's other trade features, and that is still a step up from pen and paper!

Hmmm, dont know, why you having this problem.

The '.TextFilePlatform = -535' line has to do with the UTF-8 coding of the OCR export.csv file, because of special characters of german or french. I will check, if i can workout a solution, like streaming the csv file to read the content.

There must be something missing on your systems, because many other users didnt report this issue. Please check, if the export file was created correctly at the OCR_Export folder after pressing the scan button. Delete the file before you click on 'START OCR SCAN'.

Hi Eventure,

Thanks for your assistance, i tried as you asked and the file has been created and looks ok, it has all the commodities shown on the screen and the correct values from what i can see. The only thing that doesn't look right is the res, not sure if that matters but im running 3440 not 2560

Hello. I'm sorry if this has been asked before.

I'm having some problems understanding how ftp sharing works. I wanted to be sure that the ftp download would not erase my current database, so I made a test install of TCE. After this I made a test station to see what happened to it when I downloaded the new database. I'm glad I did this test because the test station I made dissapered from my database. Although I got the new stations, my stations dissapears. Am I doing it wrong? if so, could anyone please explain it to me how it works?

FTP option is working as the following:

One player uploads his database to the FTP-Server manually for the start.
All others activate the FTP option and enter their login and download manually the database.
Now all sharing the same data. No more manual up- or downloads necessary.
When pressing the SAVE button, TCE downloads the database from the FTP, modifies it and uploads it back. All done within some seconds.

There must be something missing on your systems, because many other users didnt report this issue. Please check, if the export file was created correctly at the OCR_Export folder after pressing the scan button. Delete the file before you click on 'START OCR SCAN'.

I deleted one file in the Elite Dangerous Extras\TCE\OCR_BMP folder. I deleted one file in the Elite Dangerous Extras\TCE\OCR_Export folder. I returned to restart the scan (TCE had been reloading while I was removing the files). TCE crashed again with a similar error, but a different value (I've PM'd you a screenshot). But here is the results of the first scan from teh file created after a fresh scan in-game:

I deleted one file in the Elite Dangerous Extras\TCE\OCR_BMP folder. I deleted one file in the Elite Dangerous Extras\TCE\OCR_Export folder. I returned to restart the scan (TCE had been reloading while I was removing the files). TCE crashed again with a similar error, but a different value (I've PM'd you a screenshot). But here is the results of the first scan from teh file created after a fresh scan in-game:

I'm at a loss on how to do this. Perhaps due to the Office 365 ProPlus deployment being managed by my employers? In the past versions of Office, I would have expected to have access to the "repair" option which would open up a recognisable list of installed modules. But I can't find this on my install of Win10 and Office 365.

I may be wrong (I hope I am) but perhaps it's not possible for compatibility with Office 365 ProPlus, given that there can be options controlled by IT teams, rather than individuals? I'd be happy to pursue it further, but only if you have time or inclination. If not, I understand!

I had the same as Kroy, all the format options were missing from File Origin when trying to import. I searched everywhere for a solution but couldn't find anything. I think this all stems from an issue with my Windows 10 upgrade. i ended up re installing my old OS and then running the upgrade again. All formats are now available and TCE is working great.

Thanks to Eventure for the great support on this and for making an awesome app :)

Okay, Delw1n, the other guy, who having the same problem, reinstalled Win7 and Office and afterwards he gets the possibility to select the 65001: Unicode (UTF-8). Then he upgrades to Win 10 and today, he said, it works as it should.
Perhaps he could explain his doings step by step.

I've looked in to this a wee bit more. Apparently I have a "Click-to-run" install version of Office 365 (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219420.aspx) . This explains why the download time to activation and use of product was surprisingly short. So at least that bit works. I was expecting a 3gb download or there abouts, but Office 365 was up and running in very little time. (I have 300kb/s download speed max) so that was welcome.

There is, however, no option to customise the install (http://winsupersite.com/office-2013/click-run-and-custom-installs-office-2013)

But now, having installed a couple of other Office Components (SPD and InfoPath) I'm not able to re-install Office 365 without uninstalling those first.... so... yeah. I'm guessing that my problems are entirely localised based on my use "Click-to-run" install. Which I can't get past. I only have access to Office 365 via my employers, and I guess I would need to go to them to do something particular with the language file settings. At least, that's how it looks just now. If I find anything else that may be of use to others then I'll post back. thanks for your support Eventure. I'll still use TCE, although its utility is diminished somewhat when lacking OCR feature, I'm sure I will still find use for it.

Edit: Apparently I can get a MSI version of Office 2010. I'll try that and see if it makes a difference just for science. If there's anything you would like me to test with hte click-to-run version Eventure, let me know. I'd be happy to assist. I'm surely not the only one with this type of Office 365 installation. Furthermore, it seems like Microsoft are very keen to push more and more people down this route. Dell (as one example) are now shipping their versions of Office 365 as "click-to-run" in some instances too (see comments in link above)

Evening all,

I was having the same Windows 10 problem. The Microsoft chat technician had me follow the steps below (repeat if it helps at your own risk):

1) Open a Command Prompt as Admin
2) type sfc /scannow
3) When that completes, shut down and restart PC
4) Uninstall Office 365 / 2013 fully
5) Restart
6) Install Office 365 / 2013
7) Voila!

Hope that helps

I tried Office 2010. That didn't work either. So I figure it must be a Win10 issue. Ran SFC and it found numerous issues with my Win10 install, which it fixed. I uninstalled Office 2010 and re-installed Office 2013 and the item scan worked. Nice one LBITB. Thanks for the advice.

Hi Venture,
Sorry to hit you with this, but Installed Windows 10 from 8.1 when I should have known better.
ED seem to be OK but not TCE, I still have my DataBase with 100+ Stations etc.
Hav reinstalled TCE 14.6 numerous time which was not helped by Norton 360 deleting without question some of TCE Installation files.
Norton has now been dumped for ever more.

I have lost the connection from TCE to ED that tells where I am,
I have lost OCR with no more Scans for Commodities.

I am more than happy to dump W10, just would like your advice first. Just in case.
With W10 and Norton I guess W10 did not have a chance.

There is nothing wrong with your TCE as it has worked for me for long enough.
I wonder as humans whether we shall ever learn. After 50 years from the days of the XT I should know better than to try a brand new untried Operating System/.

Thanks.
