I had a short discussion about buying the initial game, she wanted to spend the money on silly things like food etc. However; after a week in the coal cellar, undergoing 'cold hose therapy', she agreed that the money saved by not feeding her for a week, should be used. For some strange reason, she no longer questions my investments.

I am not sure I even told her I bought it...
However she is already convinced I am a nerd, comparing me with the guys in the show Big Bang Theory.
Luckily for me she has a thing for nerds :D

I needed no excuse, I didn't buy it!
It'd have been a summary execution for spending 120 quid for something as nebulous as the "lifetime expansion pass". Got away with the 40 quid beta season pass with the old "well it's a yearly subscription just like your ancestry dot com" ploy.:D

edit: oh and the brabenbobblehead, I put down to being drunk in charge of a paypal account (wasn't impressed)

My lady was fully aware of my nerd side before so... if I've decided to buy lifetime expansion (which I did not), she would kinda expect something like that

I am the lady of the house - and summarily in charge of money anyway. My excuse to nagging was I was the one who earned the money, I had spent larger amounts on everyone else and what are you going to do about it anyway. Although I did consult with my teenage sons about whether the price was value which they thought was excellent value until they realized I had taken their advice and bought it.

I bought a lifetime pass and my wife found out! Awkward!

She has now told all her friends who think I am nerd :(

What excuses have any of yoos used?
Excuse? She KNEW what she was getting when she married me. I was very open and honest when I told her I'm a geek and a nerd. :)

I am her fourth child or first child depending on how you look at these things. Actually its beer money compared to the cost of my rig and laptop.

Make fun of her to your friends when she buys something you don't see the value in.

There is also nothing wrong with being a "nerd". It's only an insult if you make it one.

This seems to be more of a reflection of 'The rules' rather than a reflection of reality.

Yeah I did that, and she caught me, hence the need for an excuse! ;)
whoops, another typo. That would have been about $50, which would have sounded much better.
