UA Mystery thread 4 - The Canonn

If the T6/7 didnt have a ship image, then it would make perfect sense. No Image ? Go to Default behaviour. However, they do, it seems that only at a station does the behaviour change for a limited number of ships. Not making any sense to me yet.

If it's only transporters this behavior might be related to:
- the cargo hold space. A big, empty, hold could act like a resonance room that somehow affects UA's scanning lock. or, along the lines of cosmic sex theory, maybe it resembles an UA mother ?
- the fact that they are not combat vessels and thus not interesting

If a T6/7 meets a free floater UA, it is scanned and drawn just like any other ship in game. That's how I decoded the ship's drawings.
But perhaps a new T6/7 test in front of a free floater is needed again.

Au contraire, I think DB pretty much confirmed that the UAs are Thargoid related. He was asked for one word on Thargoids and he started talking about the decoding of the ship images:
https://youtu.be/RdP1DmRYco8?t=2139

I interpret that completely differently - his comment was "well", then he went on to say he did not want to spoil anything (with reference to the Thargoids) and that lots of interesting things were coming, and then, changing the subject, separately said how impressed he was with Mike Juliet Kilo for decoding the UA images. That is a pretty tenuous connection, if a connection at all.

I am sticking with UA != Thargoids myself, for all the reasons previously outlined.

As imaginative as the bacteriaphage connection to T6/T7 is, I find that just too bizarre and tenuous a connection (but would be happy to be proved wrong, somehow). I suspect it may have something to do with mass of ship, or distance from the station/body, or loadout or even pilot (although Rizal's tests seem to eliminate pilot with his DBX/T7 switch). As Zoltan says it is very curious, so curious it might even be a bug. Anyone tried a T9 yet? I had hoped to get online last night but Real Life(tm) keeps interfering, hopefully I will have some time tonight. As it is I am wasting far too much time at work keeping up with this thread, again.

Without being able to hear the morse, my guess from the Honk Length is that even Varati A was giving location instead of ship.
Next tests will be short 2 named systems. 1 Inhabited, the other Not

AWESOME thanks!
Out for lunch now, I'll do the dirty decoding after coming back...

Let's imagine it's to do with the ship. All right. Then what? Ok it shows an old behaviour under new conditions, but what would be the point? It learns new things without forgetting its former behaviour. Is it because we didn't correctly find out the meaning of its nav beacon abilities in 1.3? That'd be strange though, 'cause this newly-found old behaviour was discovered by chance.

If he changed the subject then that was pretty much the only question in the entire Q&A where he did so. I really don't think that's coincidental. It seems obvious that the mention of Thargoids made him think of the UA. That doesn't necessarily mean the UA is Thargoid in origin, but it seems pretty clear that there is a relationship between them in DB's mind.

What do the T6 and T7 have in common besides the Transporter part in the name?

According to ED Shipyard, Class 3 power distributor and 2 size 5 and size 4 internal compartments.

Anything else?

<translates alien language>
"They're coming at us again supreme commander."
"What's is it this time?"
"A T6 and a T7."
"Oooh. I'm very afraid. I think I'll feint... after lunch. Just make sure number two goes out there to clean the windows afterwards. I don't like having bits of T6 in the grills."

MORSE DECODED - VERY INTERSTING!

In the first video the MORSE in impossible to hear.

But in the other four videos the UA is ALWAYS spelling Planets or Stations NAMES!
So no drawings at all.

What bothers me much is the UA not drawing the ship, when free floating...

The UA in the first video has not scanned the ship yet (1004m away). It's logical that it does not Morse the ship drawing.

We know from your test yesterday that it can Morse the ship drawing when dropped from a different ship. It would surprise me if the free floaters does not do the same after scanning.

The UA is spelling the drawing of your ship, as Asps usually do.

No, the second video is still a free floater not scooped jet, and very close: and the UA is spelling the System name, the closest planet to be precise, A1.
No drawing.

Thanks Rizal, it shows that it doesn't respond to com channel and to flashing lights at it.

It does not respond to what your are typing, yes. But perhaps there is some magic word. I've personally wrote more than 10.000 words to it even in MORSE, and no reply. But, who knows.

Opened a ticket, Video link to T7 destruction now on YouTube https://youtu.be/c2E9b0oiBCQ Drop box does not like too much traffic !
I will move all my Vids to YouTube now I have it set up
