UA Mystery thread 4 - The Canonn

Thread Closed: Not open for further replies.
I just tried to register on the Canonn site, filled in my details and am now waiting for the mail that the site has threatened to send. I have already checked the spam folder and cannot find it anywhere.
I have also tried registering again and got the notice that both my username and email address were taken already. Thus I conclude that the registration worked as expected, but for some reason the mail has either not been sent out, has been delayed or was outright refused by Google.

If somebody with admin access (Derthek?) to the site could try to trigger that mail for me once more, I would carve a statue of your likeness out of a biscuit. Be aware that both my biscuit carving skills and my artistic competence are extremely limited.

Hi I've just resent you a verification email, and approved your registration - hopefully that should do it

Thank you. I can log in now, but still haven't received any mail. Checked spam again as well. Nothing. Also checked my profile on the Canonn site, to rule out stupidity on my part, but the mail address is correct.
Anybody else here using Google Mail and having this problem?

My recording from one of the three last night, Excuse the loud three chirps near the begining as my headset was running low on battery.

Killakiwi's recording is PERFECT to show you all what I mean with MISSING LETTERS or MISTAKES in the sequences:

(you can click on images to see larger versions)

Asp_MORSE.jpg

With different Sonic Visualizer settings:
Asp_MORSE_2.jpg

as you can see, there are two sequences made just by 5 letters.

When I tried to make the drawings, I needed to guess the missing letters, to avoid broken triangles, and broken ships images:

That's very nice. However, I can see only missing letters above. Are there "mistakes" as well? As in, letters that are clear in the morse but undeniably "wrong" when plotted?

The missing letters ARE the errors.
When you plot the original sequences, without corrections, placing some placeholder charachter in place of them (like "_"), you will have the plotting errors.
There is ONLY ONE CASE where two wrong letters cause an evident error in the drawing: The Cobra.

Code:
FCAJBM FCHHBM FCLBHH
BMHHHO LBHHQP HHHOQP
[COLOR=#ff0000][B]BM[/B][/COLOR]QPVL QPVLWP

Where BM produces a wrong triangle, and I've replaced it with LB.

These errors in the morse.. Man, they really annoy me. Seems like some pretty big mistakes and not really mistakes that you'd expect (particularly the missing / extra letters). They're just too obvious. I realize we've been down this path before, but it almost has to be deliberate.

Just to be certain, the time between honks 30 seconds= ships, and 45 - 50 seconds is location?

No. The only way to understand it with a stopwatch is because location names have always the same length ;)
So if two or more between honks last exactly the same, it's a location.

Nice work as usual, rizal72.

You know, it's probably just by coincidence, but swapping the order of the erroneous point from "BM" to "MB" gives a certain person's initials.. and it's still not that far off from a completed Cobra:

The uncorrected "BM" Cobra:

Ok, then I need to double check a UA scanning an imperial courier because I have the impression that honks have the same lenght.
