Sooo.... and the 2.1 huh?
Last info still says it's due before Christmas, i always take this with a grain of salt, maybe yes, maybe no.

But seems to have some cool stuff, specially on customization and FPS features/improvements we've been missing. :)
If they push features further we might get bug fixes / improvements, what is greatly appreciated because specially the server performance is ugh.

I backed in Jul 2013.

Anyone have a link to the old TOS?

It's alright them saying the TOS covers delays but as with most clauses there is a reasonable expectation that the customer is entitled to. They couldn't put that clause in there and then turn around and say it's going to take 20 years and you've agreed in advance, the timeframe has doubled from what was quoted for the KS, is that a reasonable? I'm not sure.

Oops, didn't see the Mods comment 2 posts back.

Ends on this...

I'm going to miss this once they get proper cargo implemented, as it won't be this sandboxy, currently it's just playing with physics.

Well CIG denied my request for a refund.

Oh this is really bad luck. I just got my refund last week after 2 months of waiting (I have asked at the beginning of october). This is really new o_O. And when I read the reply they send you, I should have the same.

Here's some more official word on 2.1, not sure if the updates are on 2.1 or just fixes:

Let's all stay in touch so on that fine day when CR sees a class action suit against him we can move fast. You know it's comming. Only question is, how soon?

Let's wait and see then, for now, better do what the Mod already asked for or this will be derailed once again, otherwise the next we see the thread is locked, and i think nobody wants that.

After the 100 million dollars in their pockets, here's the thank you of CIG and the CIG Christmas gift to their backers, directly from "Santa Lando":

True bargain. They never end to show appreciation for the support. Could exist any better gift for the backers patience and support? I doubt.

Let the "F5 War" begin!

Right!

Interesting how they are letting such thread survive for hours in the "General Section" of CIG Forums... specially today.

That's hardly new, they've got a decent track record of thanking customers for spending so much money on them, by giving them the opportunity to spend even more money. I concluded that they were out of control when they hit the $42 million stretch goal to design the Gladius fighter for the game, which they promptly did... and then sold back to customers to get even more money. What other fundraising campaign does that?

EDIT: Side note: At $100M CR has a sizable war chest sitting somewhere in his conglomerate of organizations. Even if we assume he has as little as $50M left unused that's still a large enough pile for him to reinvest and profit off of if he wanted to. The finances are obscured, but it seems like it would be a dumb move to leave millions sitting in the bank, which begs the question of where any investment income is going.

I think anybody with a background in psychology would be able to recognize the identifying characteristics of a cult in CIG culture. There's really no denying that cult behaviour exists in significant amounts among the SC userbase.

Just so we're clear, the article doesn't refer to all CIG customers as cultists, just those who've spent significant amounts of money with primarily faith-based justifications, and those who rush to defend CIG and quash even the slightest sign of criticism at their business practices. People who spend $30,000 saying SC is going to be the greatest thing ever, or people who post frequently online, defending CIG's practices in almost every post and replying to practically every post with negative comments on any aspect of the Star Citizen project.

We've established in this thread that these cultists are found basically everywhere you can have a discussion about SC online, so if anyone reads this thread and doesn't see any "cultists", maybe it's time for them to take a look in the mirror.

EDIT: How do I use the auto-merge feature?

I am curious. At what point does it stop being funding and start being just regular business revenue?

Most of the ship packages seem to be "gameplay speed up" DLC like the ones you'd see in Assassin's Creed or something similar.
I usually consider that once your DLC shop is open for business you're not funding anymore, you have, in some form, released the game.

Yeah, they're not greedy, money grubbing stooges or anything. 100 million USD for a bug riddled, barely functioning, Alpha Tech Demmo and they congratulate the backers by making the most expensive ships (that were not to be sold again) available again in a X-mass Whale Hunt. Replace the last h with a see and you get my opinion of CR these days.

When you put it that way the lines are clearly blurred.

Traditionally, revenue from sales is meant to provide funding for a company's future projects. Crowdfunding is just meant to be a means of raising funding for an organization's initial project by asking the general public for funds that would be used in development of a product. The concept is somewhat like receiving revenue with no turnover, almost like a donation since in both cases you're asking for money when you have nothing concrete to offer in return. The original intent for crowdfunding was only to get a project started, not to sustain it for years on end.

Right now CIG is technically "crowdfunding" because they claim that they're using the money to develop their product.
