Some CMDRs are just mean....

I love that there are people like that in the game.

People are jerks in real life, so they just make it more immersive for me. Of course, after they blow my ship up I hurl obscenities at my computer for a few minutes, question the parentage of my opponent and swear never to touch the game again. Once I've gone away and had a ciggarette though, I come back determined to improve my flying skills so that I'll beat them next time, although I haven't managed any revenge kills yet....

Great to see people like you here who actually understand that these things really spice up the game.

Now imagine you could set a Bounty on this CMDRs head as a player. 5 Mio. Credits or whatever it's worth for you to see the guy melt in his metal grave deep in space.
That's just one of the many cool things that I hope to see FD implementing in the furute. The game could be sooooo much fun if they would implement more game mechanics supporting the MMO part of the game. Emergent comes from unexpected (real) player interactions.

Personally i am not a pirate, i prefer to just kill another commanders from enemy factions and i really love the solo/private option. In this way every commander can make his choice; if you are in open you are a target. If you can't stomach this please go in solo or private, i really love to shot down combat ships (and trade ships of course but is boring).

I also would love to do that way more often. But here's where the game lacks. It's super expensive to do that and the rebuy costs for my Python are high. Given the fact, that I still save up 51 Mio. Credits for my Military Protection and better Shields and Thrusters (rest is A7), I still have to keep myself back from fun and grind my ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ off! But well, this might change in the future.

I'll assemble a video in 2016 that addresses the issues with the MMO part and hopefully, some features will be implemeted. The game is great for people for like the NPC-based gameplay, but for the players who bought the game for the advertised emergent, multiplayer super dooper action, it really still succs.

The "griefing" matter hits every game, i guess. Actually you cannot prevent people doing this kind of things (unless forcing a "roleplay"), so i think there is no solution for that.

Nevertheless i can understand the complaining. I am sorry for that

Emergent doesn't mean PvP. All of the tools are there for player created activities, you just have to use them. Look at the Fuel Rats. They created rich, emergent, co-op play with just one new tool. If you have to have ED create stuff, it isn't emergent, it's just the opposite.

PLayer payed bounties would only invite exploitation. Let it go. If you have a grudge, emerge and settle it yourself.

I have a Python, mill armor, A fitted and is just gathering dust in my hangar. One of the most important things when you fly solo and attack another commanders is the ability to choose your fight and if the fight go south, the ability to run away (or pull a brave Sir Robin if you like more).
My favorite for this is Clipper, you should give it a try. Very good speed, awesome ramming power, decent firepower, pretty good tank especially after armor tank modules buff, rebuy cost lower than python is ideal for hit and run.
Good luck.

Let me guess, without looking through the comments, someone is going to make a reference to a certain pirate organization within the game and proceed with libel...

Edit:

Looked through the comments, I am shocked, there is none! *Dies from heart attack*

On a serious note, any serious increase to consequence of aggressive player interaction better warrant equivalent increase in criminal activities' profits, otherwise leave everything alone.

I was going to write a long rant that would no doubt have given the moderators an unpleasant Monday morning but instead I will resort to just one word...

Pathetic.

It's nice for the guys(?) from cODER to have these kinds of posts show up every now and then. It gives them much greater exposure and a chance to preen their feathers in public. Just the kind of fluffing that keeps them going. The only good point in here is the free advertising for the Mobius group (I highly recommend it).

Saying that Solo/Group play is the cause for the lifelessness in Open just points out the complete lack of awareness evident in a certain type of player.

A quote to live by.... if you live on carebear island. Get back to your group hugs!

Is this some attempt at shaming me for not wanting to be your content? Carebear Island? Really? Is that the best you have? You just serve to make my point. I choose who I play around and so far my time in Open hasn't impressed me. If you need to prove your virility in a video game, be my guest. I have zero interest in witnessing that. FLex on mighty commander.

The problem isn't open, it's the people in your time zone.

Nah, it's my own fault for doing the Community Goal in Open.
It's attracted all the scum of the universe, from a wing of ships outside Jones Orbital attempting to ram all players they saw, to constant interdictions of single ships by wings. This is only my second experience of CGs, and it's not a pleasant one.

When I head back to my home system, I'll probably go back to Open as it's nice to run in to the occasional player. But if I take part in any Community Goal again, I'll be sure to stay in Solo.
Which is kind of ironic considering they're called Community Goals.

Let's face it, the aim when taking part in a CG is to get the biggest reward you can with the time available to you. Playing Solo as opposed to Open increases your "contribution" massively, as every kill is yours, and you're not sharing the reward with wing-mates.
For a game that heavily features an online multiplayer component, it sure goes out of its way to encourage you to play Solo.

I am imperial. Pledged to ALD.

Yesterday i was playing in open, i went to Gende.

I'm flying a python. There were guys playing around.
I stood still, the saw me on their radar for a couple of minutes.
I was not interacting with them. Now did they.

But later on this 4 wing started to shooting at me.
I don't really know which one was but i assume at least i got shot by 2 ships.
I had no chance at all. I tried to get behind a rock but couldn't and died.

I got upset because no warning no nothing at all!
They just killed me.
I got back there and started typing. They were "no faction"
They said they wouldn't care! As i understood they wanted to keep the Haz. res site for themselves.
They call themselves "any clan name" (not gonna expose them)

But i do care. The 6 mil insurace credits that i spent, i couldn't recover later on.
But im pretty sure they got their 20-30 mils credits and claimed it later.

So in your opinion guys, open play is just for 4 players in instance, the rest should play in solo??
Is this it? Is that a joke?
Some group are taking the haz res, the others are keeping the High density one..
Where will the other single players go?

Something is really wrong with this game!
This game is entertaining when you interact with the others. you get in wing and share.
The more players in the instance the more npc's appear.
Going to solo/mobius is not an answer to that!

Nor you have the right to tell me to go Mobius.
U go to private and make killings as a 4 wing!

I don't care whatever you call me but this game is becoming not fun anymore with this gameplay.
I hope you get the fun out of it.

This game requires another "open mode" for non pirate players!

Eh...I bought this game just for space pew pew against AI and collecting swanky spaceships.
I've dealt with my fair share of griefers during my time in EVE online, and I'm glad I have the choice to play in Solo or Private Groups in E:D.

Whilst I agree to some extent, I think it is more the other way round. I think that credits are too easy to get from Trading, CZ's and CG's. I don't pirate, I am an explorer/trader with a bit of bounty hunting thrown in and I think I get a lot of credits far too easily, especially from trading and bounty hunting.

I would also like to see Pirate bases etc, a reputation system so the worse your reputation is the more trouble you can be in high sec areas (Likely to be interdicted and scanned depending or your rep, if it is high(good) than its is far less likely you will be interdicted) but the Black Market prices are far better. You will be in a better situation in low sec areas i.e NPC ships will jettison thier cargo or fight back depending on your rep (the worse it is the more likely they will jettison) and thier will be less security interdictions if any. Commodity prices should be higher in these placed as they hold more risk for the traders.

Why don't we accept the fact some like open and the "threats" it brings? For that group of people is fun. I 'd prefer it if there was some kind of forced interaction before PvP (just coming out of witchspace guns blazing doesn't cut it for the vast majority of players and it's not fun). Some dialogue, something. Psychos just shouldn't even get a license and even if they did they 'd get expelled from the pilot association in any real-ish world, after their first incident of psychotic behaviour. It's not RP, it's not the way your character is, it is just a player playing the bully. And it's ok, no need for excuses, but behaviour like this does indeed drive people to solo and Mobius. And you know what? it is FINE. Solo is there for those people, noone can brag about being always in open or solo, it is not a feat, it is a plain choice.

Pirating on the other hand is a very welcome thing when done right, and pirates try to offer some imersion and realism to the dealing. Both parties can have fun (even if one ends up blown up, but really people do appreciate efforts for imersion!). I m not talking about Code or anything, it is really hard to control all members such a large group, some will do it in a fun way, some not.

So flash news everyone. There is a the group of people that do not find that threat of open play fun, especially after a few bad experiences. Why? Well, it may be stressful to them and dealing with the stress of real life is enough. I won't be judging them for wanting a more carefree gameplay experience in mobius or solo. Who am I to do so? Carebear? Really? As if anyone knows what another person behind a PC is going through? I know people that find PvP gameplay stressful (not elite specifically), yet they 're having fun boxing in a ring in real life, risking getting their behinds kicked and feeling actual physical pain (...). That is just childish provocation. Unless you provoke a child this way, noone will be coming back from solo or Mobius. So besides insulting someone, what does this bring on the table? Nothing at all, maybe some self fulfillment. "I play in open and thus, I m badass." "I gang people with my pals and I get pleasure when the victim cries in the forums, thus I am important, I must be since I affect other's people emotions".

Keep in mind half the backers of the game actually expected a completely solo kind of gameplay in their own universe, disconnected from the servers. This never came to be.

imo - Piracy should be allowed in the game, murder should come with a price!

If a Cmdr successfully pirates another Cmdr their Bounty should be the cost of the cargo plundered + £10K. If they murder the other Cmdr then the bounty should be the cost of the cargo + the Insurance Re-buy Cost (insurance Company issue the Bounty).
This bounty should stick with the Cmdr in whatever ship or system they are in until they are hunted and killed by another Cmdr, not NPC or Security. They can hide in a group or solo if they choose but if they log on in Open then Galnet should send a flash message to all Cmdrs online so they can go hunting!

If you are in a wing that kills a Cmdr then you all get the same Bounty - not split between you!

When a Cmdr Bounty is claimed then the Cmdr should be made to start over again in a Sidey with £1K. Their records wiped from the Pilots Federation and all ranks removed. This should also stop Cmdrs Friends killing each other to boost their accounts.

I wonder if Mr Johnson would like the words 'GAME OVER' In large type after this ? When a Cmdr Bounty is claimed then the Cmdr should be made to start over again in a Sidey with £1K. Their records wiped from the Pilots Federation and all ranks removed.

Not at all - I was just trying to think of a way around the if we kill lots of players we get a hugh bounty - you kill me for it and I will kill you back - we can make shed loads of money mindset. Also if you are back in a Sidey it will take a little bit of game time to get a decent PVP ship again.
