Excellent. So you acknowledge that you are being deliberately insulting (which adds nothing to the credibility of your position)?
Nope. I can't control what people feel about themselves when a word is assigned to them. I know how I feel about the word and what it means and it's not inherently insulting.
That's nice. People playing in solo, by definition, do not share your desires. People playing in closed groups, by definition, do not share your desires. And yet you seem to think your way of playing is the only correct one.
You speak for all of them now? A great many would play in open if it weren't for psychos killing them purely for the pleasure of it. They have no protections, hence, they retreat to "the island".
Please don't pretend to be the elected leader of "the island". You are not. Many play there because it's the only way to play without being indiscriminately killed. They want peace and quite and to play with friends. I understand that. I simply want them to be able to do that in our world so our world is more populated and alive.
In an effort to move the thread along - you mention the "strictest of penalties" for non-consensual attacks in a high security area. What did you have in mind that would actually be a deterrent?[/QUOTE]
There are a number of ideas floating around, some of which I mentioned. Stricter penalties in terms of bounties and security obviously. Bounty amounts are taken from the murderers own bank account.
Heightened security -- talking super, instant death cops eve style -- when known murderers are in a system. And I don't mean fast, I mean instant. It's a living hell for a known murderer to go anywhere near civilized systems. Bounty Hunters that take down these criminals get their pay from the psycos own pockets; making it a double whammy if they die. This alone cuts down on outright murder for the fun of it.
What is needed, of course, is details. How much is enough. Should bounties be placed based on the murderers income level as a deterrent? Someone with billions isn't going to care about some 10k murders. They just won't.
A combination of things will be needed to be done to ensure it works.
