Some CMDRs are just mean....

So you turned my example of how the universe should work... I.E. a system that is blockaded shouldn't be able to get supplies from another dimension (solo mode) if there is an active blockade... and you took it to mean that I'm actually running a blockade with others KNOWING FULL WELL this alternate universe ignores said blockade.

Wow... that plane flew right over your hea, didn't it bud? And whats super funny is you tried to appear like the smart guy with that post. "This guy is running blockades, durrrrrr!" Holy chit dude, I'm the one that mentioned the example -- Yeesh, talk about embarrassing.
I'm in your game, running your blockade. And there's nothing you can do about it.

Now cry some more about those mean solo players ruining your game :)

This game requires another "open mode" for non pirate players!

Funny guy, you are. That's like saying this bar is only for people who like Elite. Non pirate players open mode? That's the funniest thing I've read recently. Cotton wool example fits well here.

I also ALMOST lost my Python 3 weeks ago. A guy hunted me and shot me to 30 % hull level but I could escape. MAN! THAT WAS FUN! I had so much adrenalin in my body. That's what really spices this game up. I got out of the station, wanted to claim my bounty and boom, another attempt to pull me out of Supercruise. But I escaped. Same guy. How cool. He was waiting for me somewhere. That was so much fun. Real player interaction. That's what the Dangerous stands for.

Excellent. So you acknowledge that you are being deliberately insulting (which adds nothing to the credibility of your position)?

Nope. I can't control what people feel about themselves when a word is assigned to them. I know how I feel about the word and what it means and it's not inherently insulting.

That's nice. People playing in solo, by definition, do not share your desires. People playing in closed groups, by definition, do not share your desires. And yet you seem to think your way of playing is the only correct one.

You speak for all of them now? A great many would play in open if it weren't for psychos killing them purely for the pleasure of it. They have no protections, hence, they retreat to "the island".

Please don't pretend to be the elected leader of "the island". You are not. Many play there because it's the only way to play without being indiscriminately killed. They want peace and quite and to play with friends. I understand that. I simply want them to be able to do that in our world so our world is more populated and alive.

In an effort to move the thread along - you mention the "strictest of penalties" for non-consensual attacks in a high security area. What did you have in mind that would actually be a deterrent?[/QUOTE]

There are a number of ideas floating around, some of which I mentioned. Stricter penalties in terms of bounties and security obviously. Bounty amounts are taken from the murderers own bank account.

Heightened security -- talking super, instant death cops eve style -- when known murderers are in a system. And I don't mean fast, I mean instant. It's a living hell for a known murderer to go anywhere near civilized systems. Bounty Hunters that take down these criminals get their pay from the psycos own pockets; making it a double whammy if they die. This alone cuts down on outright murder for the fun of it.

What is needed, of course, is details. How much is enough. Should bounties be placed based on the murderers income level as a deterrent? Someone with billions isn't going to care about some 10k murders. They just won't.

A combination of things will be needed to be done to ensure it works.

I'm in the uncomfortable position of playing in open and finding the malodorous scribbling on this thread by certain other open players to be rather shaming. Elite Daily Mail is spot on. Who would actually want to interact with these people?

On the plus-side, at least FD's decision to create the separate game modes has been fully justified... There's so much e-peen around this topic; it should be censored!

Did I mention that crime and punishment needs an overhaul...

lol... I guess you realize what you did. But... rather than backtrack, you're digging deeper? lololololol.

Please, just vanish like a fart in the wind. It will be less embarrassing for you, I promise.

I agree, but would actually prefer if the game could function to my satisfaction if it only offered an open mode, and while I do prefer to play in open, I feel that isn't the case.

ok without being insulting,i personally feel a lot of peeps are scared to go into open,in case they get griefed.....
I like wildlife docs.....survival of the fittest, king of the jungle and all that, well video game worlds are similar imo, especilly online ones.

This has been discussed many times in the SOG mega threads as well as a fair few other threads, the reasons people choose to play in group and/or solo are wide and varied. Whilst I would agree, and this may shock you, as someone who fairly regularly, (not always), in open that the griefing thing does get blown out of proportion a bit I would bet my house on fear being way, way down the list of 'reasons' people play in certain modes.

EDIT :- In fact, the whole 'fear' thing just reeks of epeen PVP'ers making themselves out to be 'the big man', 'harder', 'tougher' - or to use your expression having 'bigger balls', seems a bit desperate don't you think?

LOL - Who are these "ya'll," "carebears," and "racists" people keep talking about? ;)

No I mean there are people who are proving the addage, better to seem a fool and stay silent, than prove it by speaking. Lots of gum flapping. It's possible to debate this topic without being an idiot.

Typically making it personal usually means actual valid reasons have run out, and it becomes point scoring. Burying the original intent of the thread.

People who talk to me face to face are not as irritating, so likely no. But I leave the option open.

As an open player myself, I have to say that you personally are the most irritating thing about this thread.

And unless you are extremely fit and well trained in pugilism, I would strongly advise against keeping that particular option open.
