Knights Of The Black

UPDATE

I spent the evening updating our public website at http://knightsoftheblack.weebly.com/

The style has changed, and a new page was added featuring the lore of our group. This collection of Knights lore will grow steadily. I'll be sure to post here whenever a new story or GalNet article is available.

Also updated OP with links to our lore page.

Looks Good :).

As regards the survey of Merope and the searches for SS1 and the Antares how do we want to organise? I suspect that it is likely best to jump on the Canonn TS server if anyone goes to Merope and ask them how you can best help out. It does feel like a Canonn led expedition, with the Knights there to help out and also keep an eye on what they find :). I am looking to get over there this weekend for a bit at least and I am around during UK daytime and evening. Spruxxx and anyone else who fancies it, I hope to meet up with you there at some point.

The search for SS1 and the Antares though does sound like something the Knights can do on their own, but with swapping information with the Canonn as we go. In that case do we want to draw up a list of targets and keep a record of what we find? As fun as just cruising and driving around is, and I do mean that :), it won't get much accomplished in the long run. So perhaps we can use this thread or maybe the reddit or the enjin site to organise that search better?

Also Jpaulwilson1982 you mentioned an experiment? I am intrigued :).

Yeah we should probably coordinate with the Canonn in any efforts we make with regards to searching Merope. Anyone can feel free to go it alone, but the Canonn are the experts on that front. I'm keeping an eye on their UA thread to see if anything interesting comes up.

I'll be getting Horizons tomorrow, so I'm definitely out. I also started searching again for SS1 but Salvagable Wreckage Sites causes the game to crash when transitioning from Supercruise to Normal Space. Already reported it, so hopefully it'll be fixed soon so I can more thoroughly search the area.

And I agree with what you said about the SS1 and Antares search. The Canonn seem to pretty much have the claim on all the UA happenings. They're often the first find something, and FD often posts their articles and incorporates them into the current Elite story. They're essentially part of the Elite Dangerous canon.

When I realized that SS1 and Antares are almost 100% certainly in the universe somewhere, I decided that might be the best route for us considering the one global GalNet article I was able to get published was concerning SS1. While a very small number of players are still trying to figure out what happened to SS1 and the Antares, I don't think any group is really putting forth any effort to find them. So we'll definitely take up this mantel. And if the UAs are somehow involved, it'll make for a very exciting intersecting story arc.

And about targeting places to be searched, my current focus is in and around the Sirius, Azaleach, and 78 Ursae Majoris systems. In an attempt to look where no one else has, I've been trying to investigate signal sources around asteroid fields. That won't be a viable option for me until FD fixes the issue I'm having, but I'd encourage searchers to look on planets, around asteroid fields, and cruising the outer rims of each system searched. I know that is still pretty broad, but until we find more clues that's the best we can do. I'll be sure to submit a GalNet article outlining the details of what places should be searched.

About my experiments.... so far, they're failures. It's what I expected, and I'll release some video footage of the ridiculous experiments I tried. Should be mildly comical lol

Still keeping my fingers crossed that my latest GalNet Article gets posted. It would be great publicity for the Knights and for the conspiracies taking place in the story.

Aye!

We got the artefacts and now the spreading station errors.
Does anybody remember what happend with the thargoids? A bio engineered fungi took down their warp drives.
These 2 together...
I think they are out of somwhere and prepping for remach. I think? I sure!

Agreed all looks good to me, nice work. JPW, with your post, it's great that you're threading the disparate Galnet news articles together about the missing ships and disturbing disappearances of individuals connected to the investigations.

We have also not received an update about the article reporting a group of armed men caught attemping to disable station security at Christian Dock in Nganji and destroy Palin's UA research lab. Who did they represent, and where are they now? Which organisation opposes research so strongly, and why?

"I have it on good authority they were caught trying to break into Palin's laboratory, and I heard they had incendiary explosives, too. I wouldn't be surprised to discover they were trying to destroy the lab and the UAs."

At the very least, there is a web of human intrigue here waiting to be unlocked, and maybe more...!

I'm having gfx issues for planetary landings so this is delaying my journey to Merope unfortunately. But I will get there soon enough, oh yes :D

Presume you heard about an XBox Imperial Powerplay group calling themselves the White Templars admitting / boasting to delivering around 200 UAs to an Archon Delaine station in Harma? Not long after, the station suffered malfunctions. Proof for the first time that player interaction can influence affected stations - whether it was automatic or an FD decision, I don't know. This Templar group promised on a thread to the Canonn that it would not happen again, but even if they keep their word, that's just one group of countless many who might try such tactics...

And, I have an interesting screen grab for discussion. I'd like to say that it's top secret and many Bothans died to bring us this information etc etc, but...it's from the Horizons launch trailer

Let's hope that whatever - or whoever - it is, it can be found in Merope somewhere. And friendly

Certainly plausible. Maybe we'll learn for sure what it is about the UAs that's causing station malfunction through the Dr. Palin story arc.

Thanks- I'll keep writing stories and articles that thread together like that. GalNet has plenty of lore in itself to work with, like the article you mentioned concerning the lab break in. Certainly something to look into. Might give us another lead for the Antares or SS1.

You best summed it up saying, "At the very least, there is a web of human intrigue here waiting to be unlocked, and maybe more...!"

Sorry to hear about your gfx issues. To keep a decent framerate on planets (and to simply be able to see the planets' surfaces) I had to tank my terrain graphics settings. But at least I was able to get it to work.

And I hadn't heard of the White Templars. I heard about something like what they did but didn't know the details or name of the group involved. No telling how many people out there are going out of their way to sell UAs at certain stations. This could shape up to be a pretty big mess and quick.

About the screen you posted, the canonn has been talking about it a good bit. They're calling those things space barnacles, but I'm not sure if they found that place yet. Lots of speculation about them being linked to the UA. I'm not sure myself how they relate to the UA, but I'm sure that particular place holds some awesome secrets.

Finally about the Dr. Palin story- if anyone is willing and able to contribute to that community trading goal it would probably be in the best interests of the Knights and its goals. Having a base in the Pleiades to work from would be immensely beneficial. I'll post it as a new Mission for the group in OP later on. No one is required to participate in this CG, though. I myself will contribute a little bit at least. After running a trade route back-and-forth about 20 times it makes me want to jump out my window screaming :D It's got to be done sometimes, though....

This weekend and next week it going to be a busy one for me. Got to update my Buyer's and Beginner's Guide, write the next part to the Investigation story, set up a voice chat server for the group (FINALLY lol), and look further for SS1 and the Antares. Today I'll check a couple more places to find the Treasure Hunt clue CG, but I'm terrible at riddles so I probably won't get far at all :p

Oh, and just to ask- How is everyone enjoying Horizons so far? Or if you only have 1.5, how are you enjoying that? So far I've been having a blast. The only huge disappointment for me is that I can land on any airless moon and planet in the galaxy, except THE moon. I went to Luna expecting to land on it and play around a bit, but nope. The one moon I want to land on most and I can't lol Kind of like with Evochron Mercenary- I could land on any planet I wanted, except the Earth. Besides that though I've loved Horizons. I still got a lot to learn and experience.

I have not picked up Horizons yet, so i'm still on 1.5. I have to say, I feel like they're kind of shafting those who haven't bought it yet. The amount of missions found on the BB per station has gone down dramatically for those who are still on 1.5. I wasn't on much this weekend (too busy playing the Black Desert Online beta :D ) so not sure if this has been addressed by now, but the last time I checked there was very little to do no matter which station I went to. I don't mind making my own content by bounty hunting, trading, exploring, etc, but I like to have the bulletin board missions as a focus for my efforts and to feel like I'm actively participating in the universe around me. Hope they change this soon and that it's not intentional.

I would like to sign up CMDR Jenkib

The Bulletin Boards in 2.0 do have more missions. I wasn't able to upgrade from 1.5 until a couple of days after it released, so I got to experience that. Naturally, there will be some missions that can't show for 1.5, like the surface missions. Then there are the space missions, which appear to have more variety in 2.0. You aren't entirely being left behind by not having Horizons, but you are missing out on some different missions.

Is this fair or right? Well, they did state what they were going to do, so the differences between 1.5 and Horizons don't really surprise me. I'll have to reserve judgement and see more of where this is all going to go. But considering there's no subscription fee, and I was able to get Horizons for $45, doesn't seem like too bad of a deal. Now, the cost for paintjobs does bother me a bit, so I hardly purchase any.

Also, an update about my own search efforts for SS1- I've been poking around in Azaleach, especially at the stars and asteroid fields 200,000ls from the main star. I've found tons of wreckage, but nothing even remotely resembling a huge luxury ship. Soon I'll go off to another nearby star system and see what turns up there. Eventually I plan on heading out to Maia and Merope to search there. It's a longshot but I've been wanting to check out those systems again anyways. But I need to do some more trading for the Dr. Palin CG... lots to do. I might be able to get all this stuff done if I played the game as much as I mess around on these forums :D

Discovered a kind of hidden system and not easy to get to only 39.25 LY from SOL. Real life....I have been interested in Area 51 for a few years now. I came across some information not long ago that scientist there believe that there is alien life in this system. The system name is "Zeta 2 Reticuli". I checked to see if this system was in the in game galaxy map and it would not pull up any info on this system. So did some more research and found that the system has another name, which is "HIP 15371". So I punched it into the galaxy map and there it was. What struck me as odd is that it came up Zeta 2 Retcilui, not HIP 15371. So i tried to plot a course for this system and it kept coming up that it couldn't plot the route. So noticed that another system very close to it was "Zeta 1 Reticuli", so I plotted a course there and it didn't show any info on it either. so more research and found another name for it also " HIP 15330". So off I go to Zeta 1. I get there and go into the system map on the left panel in the cockpit, as you can guess "Zeta 2 Reticuli" wasn't there. I'm sitting there trying to figure out what is going on. So i go into the galaxy map and type in "HIP 15371" and there it was same as before. So went to plot a course there and you guessed it, couldn't plot route. So I just clicked on the system icon and jumped to the system seeing how it was only .11 LY away. Now the scientist at Area 51 believe that the fourth planet in this system is inhabited by aliens. So off I go to the 4th planet....scan the planet and what do i find, a high metal planet...Ammonia Rich Atmosphere. Seems that this system could be worth checking out. I could be wrong but it just might be possible that FD are using real life scenarios in their game.? I am currently in this system looking for any signs of life. Maybe somebody could dispatch some ships to this system to check it out? Seems FD went to a lot of trouble to make this system somewhat hidden..hard to find..and hard to get to... and right under our noses...wonder why??

Interesting, I am off on my Xmas break now, but back in game Saturday or Sunday. I can take a look then and see what experience I have.

Due to some of the Canonn's recent experience I would suggest that when we find something strange like this, then we need to submit a bug report. Just in case FDev come back and say it is a bug.

I have posted a message up in the general forum on the enjin site. It is a matter that I think will interest the Knights, but which I am not discussing on public forums. It may just be a bug, but if you have access and can help at all I would appreciate it.

Seems there is a new CG involving the Antares, https://community.elitedangerous.com/galnet/uid/56795df09657ba9552349a85.

There is a list of systems to collect the wreckage components from:
Wise 0855-0714
Talta
Epsilon Indi
Alpha Centauri
Luhman 16
Rigga
Wise 1639-6847
Luyten 205-128

Thanks was just about to post that, will check your Enjin post too. So JPW, it seems your timing is spot on, we have progress on the Antares. SS1 may come later!

The 2.0.02 patch has massively improved the gfx artefacts and low FPS I had with landings, which is good news. I'm in Dahan but as I have my FAS, carrying the shelters is not very efficient. Still, the combat goal is pretty thin for Fed bounties apart from SSS and interdictions, as there's no active haz zones that I've seen. There's a war on, but combat vouchers don't count.

And hello everyone :) Jpinkston I'm on PC, sorry...Ghostrider 1 interesting possibility and worth checking out of course, but having read the latest on the Canonn thread, personally I reckon it's best not to read too much into things...there are bugs in the game and on the whole, FD have or will give pretty clear clues to establish plotline related stuff. Then again, maybe you've discovered the space barnacle homeworld... :D

Im not sure if FD will use real-life theories (especially conspiracy theories) from our time to influence the events of Elite's future state. Could be wrong though.

And about the Zeta Reticuli stars- it's probably like with the Alpha Centauri system, where Beta and Proxima Centauri are in the system also. And if you search for Beta or Proxima Centauri, it'll still focus your map's cursor on Alpha Centauri, simply because its the main star of the system.

Thanks for your insights though. I'll have to check out Zeta Reticuli sometime soon :)

If I am wrong and this is out of the ordinary, definitely submit a bug report. Unless there's a flaw in my understanding, this is just how stars are managed in the GalMap.

I would like to join the Knights of the Black if y'all are still recruiting?

Welcome to the Knights, GhostRider. Things are really starting to ramp up, so your help is much appreciated. Check our OP later tonight for when I update it (could take a little while though).

I've already signed up and turned in a little bit of wreckage. Not much support for this CG thus far. I'm going to write a GalNet article to hopefully build support for this CG. I fear it may fail though...

While the Canonn focuses on the Palin CG, we can work at this one. Of course, all Knights are free to do whichever CGs they want. But I worry that the Antares CG might need the most help getting completed. The good news is that we have quite a bit of time (well over a week IIRC).

I'll be updating the OP tonight sometime. Keep your eyes peeled ;)

I, too, would like to join in this endeavor! CMDR Al'andron Dalocort

Welcome to the Knights, Al'andron.
