Knights Of The Black

Ts3server://85.236.100.124?port=11697

That's the teamspeak server set up for the Knights, if your new to teamspeak (like me) the download is free and safe, used and rated by many. Once set up just copy the above into the server address! Also don't worry if you don't have a mic or head set as it also has chat room in there.. I've paid 3 months up front to give it time to get going!...

Pleione 6 picked up some interest last night/this morning. A CMDR was looking for barnacles in his SRV and was heading towards something he hasn't seen in game before when his SRV exploded!! Even tho the SRV boom is a known bug his sure it's something new he was heading for and a few other CMDR's are saying the lighting from the star ect fits the lighting and planet type from the barnacle teaser trailer!.. Might be worth a look!..

The UA thread gets so many posts its tough to keep up now :p But I did see some posts you're talking about and had similar thoughts to focus on Pleione 6. In fact, I'll add a list to the Missions section soon of planets and moons that should be of the utmost interest to explore. Thanks for bringing this to the Knights' attention!

oh yeah sorry forgot to add my name it's CMDR DEATHWINGDOOMSLAYER

AWESOME NAME!!!! Sorry for all caps but I think the moment called for it :p

Hello all! Re roles yes sounds good to me, I was thinking exactly that a couple of roles sound just right - but I know there are other tasks I'll definitely contribute to, even if I don't have time to take on those positions officially.

Checked out Maia B yesterday - despite initial caution my curiosity got the better of me and I went in close...about 20km away in normal flight I received the 'Body Exclusion Zone Limit' or whatever and the ship started overheating rapidly. Hightailed it out of there just in case, wouldn't want to casually cross the event horizon :D

@Red D2 Pacca Pleione 6 eh, thx I'll check it out too. Latest is that it's a shipwreck site, and the exploding SRV is a bug. But from the description of the world it still has potential, gotta be worth a scout...

Not to demean anyone else's contributions, but you've been of immense help Spruxxx. jpinkston has also been pretty active, and CMDR Corlas just gave me an idea for a big opportunity for us. The next couple of days are going to be interesting if everything falls into place ;)

Yeah I'm just starting engines now so should be stopping by that way soon, just gonna look at setting up a teamspeak for the nights first..

I'll certainly hit up Pleione 6 tonight. ATM I'm on top of a 5 km high mountain on Maia B1BA :) I just hope I don't go tumbling off the edge again. The top of the mountain is pretty huge, with ripply but relatively flat terrain. but if you're not careful you'll fly right off the damn thing in your moon buggy.

OP HAS BEEN UPDATED. ALL MISSIONS WITH UPDATES WILL BE GREEN IN COLOR.

Now for some news for all Knights:

LIST OF SYSTEMS BEING CONSIDERED AS HOME BASES AND SUB-BASES

  • Lakho
  • Kupana
  • Cerritics
  • Nu Kuang
  • HIP 36485
  • HIP 10322
  • Chuanabosso
  • Luvalla
  • Idini

Most (or all) should be outside of Powerplay space. Most are High Tech systems, some with a Federation presence (but not necessarily Federation controlled). Exploring these systems will be the duties of Lord Strategists.

CMDR Corlas has suggested we take advantage of the chaos in Pleiades systems that are being targeted by pirates and anarchist commanders. Many commanders have complained about attacks in those systems while exploring for the Barnacles. In response, the Knights will request aid from its allies the Canonn and Mercs of Mikunn in order to gather a formidable force that will protect explorers in the region. I'm currently in Maia exploring, armed to the teeth in an Imperial Clipper. That's probably why *I* haven't been subject to such violence ;)

A GalNet article will be proposed, detailing our intentions and affirming which other groups stand with us.

Planets and Moons of Interest in the Barnacles search:

  • Maia B1BA
  • Pleione 6

More will be posted when more information becomes available.

I was doing some mountin serching there not long ago, found tea and gold a plenty! Lost it all in a very quick battle when I jumped system, gonna have to store the Python as my balance is a bit low after that and jump in the Hauler 😣

There's no need pay towards anything, it's a small cost right now and would only rise with numbers so for now all is good, I'll spend some time looking at it and working it out over the next couple of days but might be handy if we could have someone in the know running it if we want it fancy!.. Lol.. It's a rented TS3 server just for the Knights so feel free add it to OP and chuck it around when recruiting!..

Be safe out there, it's a war zone tonight!

Done and done :) I can't thank you enough, Red! This duty of keeping up the server and working on it will fall on a Lord Advocate (Community Organizer) when someone fills the role. Hopefully we can get one sometime soon to help you with the TeamSpeak server.

EDIT: I forgot to publicly congratulate jpinkston70 for his new roles as a Lord Strategist and as an Expedition Commander. He'll be investigating potential home systems for the Knights over the coming weeks. Thanks for taking on this responsibility, jp.

Also OP updated with new members.

alien species (particularly the Thargoids),

Welcome and thanks for checking this out!

Knights of the Black
Founded May 28th, 3301

Given humanity's past with sentient, alien species (particularly the Thargoids), it’s my opinion that the powers of the galaxy aren’t focused enough on defending all of human civilization against alien aggressors. The galactic powers are also more concerned with internal affairs and playing politics- which is why I’m forming this group.

Simply put, the main purposes of the Knights of the Black will be to defend any human system attacked by an alien force, and to discover, and establish diplomatic ties with, alien civilizations if at all possible.

Given the discovery of the Unknown Artifact, it seems the time is right for the creation of a group like this one. While many pilots will be drawn into the internal conflicts of humankind, there exists potential threats, legendary discoveries, and, if we're lucky, new friends of an extraterrestrial nature.

More on the Nature of the Group

To be more specific, the group shall be focused on

  1. exploration of deep space for the benefit of all humanity.
  2. attempting to locate and understand new, rare, and legendary items.
  3. searching for new life, specifically sentient life with space faring capabilities.
  4. study new, sentient life and discuss its potential threats and benefits for human civilization as a whole.
  5. defending all of humanity against all potential and known enemies originating outside the realm of colonized human space.
  6. engaging peaceful sentient species to form strong, positive ties and improve humanity's chance of survival.
  7. working together, within the group and without, to find answers, aid in finding answers, and generally collecting information pertaining to the long-term or short-term goals of the group.

The above bullet points are just broad goals, more long-term than short. As more mysteries continue to emerge from the black, we'll become more meaningful and useful to humanity overall, and we'll have much more to do.

Guidelines
  1. You can be a part of other groups.
  2. You don't have to have loyalty to a particular galactic nation or faction. Imperial, Federation, Alliance, Others- we leave our politics at the door. So, please don't promote or demean a political entity in this topic. But we can discuss the various political entities where it concerns the goals of this group. For instance, if it seems that a certain political entity is more likely to engage in hostilities with alien species, then we can certainly discuss it. Just don't make baseless accusations or try to rally the group's support for ONLY a certain power. Our goal is to defend ALL of humanity, not just certain factions.
  3. You must be interested in the idea of protecting all of humanity against alien threats. I understand with Powerplay on the way that some players may not be able to defend a certain system or systems due to faction loyalty. But if it's at all reasonably possible, members of the group who are mainly combat pilots should be willing to defend humanity against an alien attack if the need arises.
  4. Share our in-game CMDR names with one another (optional for the time being, perhaps a permanent rule if the group eventually decides so). Also optional, send a PM to jpaulwilson1982 here in the forums with your email address for bi-monthly and emergency notifications.
  5. Freely share information here with other commanders. Likewise, feel free to share information posted in this topic in other threads, as well.
  6. Do not use the information you obtain in this group to kill or harass other commanders.
  7. Try to keep posts on topic, relative to the goals of this group. I'm flexible on this, so long as we're not simply posting to bump or completely derailing the thread.
  8. Be respectful. Even if an idea, theory, or piece of information seems unlikely, disagree in a polite fashion.
  9. Everyone agrees to follow the forum rules set by Frontier Developments.

Okay, so those are the guidelines. They'll adapt accordingly over time.

Rules of First Contact and Engagement
  • Any alien species with space faring technology is to be reported to the group and closely studied.
  • Any alien species with advanced space faring technology (ability to travel reasonably fast from system to system) is to be reported to the group and closely studied, and engaged only in a peaceful manner. Our interests lie in establishing and maintaining peaceful relations with aliens, not in starting wars.
  • All Knights of the Black are not allowed to initiate hostilities with alien species of their own free will.
  • If an alien vessel engages a Knight in combat, the default response should be to escape and inform the group. Only fire if your survival depends on it. (Very flexible in cases of self defense).
  • The Knights of the Black can declare an alien species as a hostile threat, making our default response to attack that alien species. Such decisions will be made by voting, where a simple majority rules. In instances where voting results in a tie, the founder of the group gets to decide if hostilities should be waged against an alien species, or if a final decision should be put off for a later voting, during which time the Knights will continue to discuss the situation and present more evidence. (Personally, I'd often lean more towards the latter, unless extreme circumstances lead me to believe extreme and immediate action is necessary to protect humanity)
  • Alliances will also be decided by a majority, with tied votes being decided in a similar fashion to the previous rule.
  • In instances where an alien vessel is carrying a highly sought-after item, no Knight is allowed to forcefully take the item except in cases where the Knights of the Black have declared hostilities against a species.
  • All manner of scans is allowed when encountering an alien vessel, unless the group decides otherwise as a general rule or for specific species.

Note that these rules are not yet set in stone and may change in the future. However, by joining the Knights of the Black, you are agreeing to be part of a group that isn't interesting in solely attacking, pirating, or being otherwise hostile to aliens. We prefer peace, with war being a last resort.

Official Mottos

- Actis Esto Volucris, which means: Be swift in action

- We are the wall, the shield, and the sword.

Current Missions And Topics For Discussion

New/Updated

Not New but still of Importance

Mission Resolved or Finished

1. Explore and feel free to share important discoveries here, particularly if the information pertains to aliens or alien technology.

2.Discuss how to organize as a group to better respond to human civilization getting attacked by alien species.
  1. Currently, I am observing systems toward the Pleiades to formulate a strategy as to where we can base fighting and repairs in that region of space.
  2. I found an excellent system to use as a base of operations near the UA shell region. Diaguandri had an excellent assortment of modules of all sizes. Plus a large number of ships in the shipyard. If an attack breaks out, we'll convene in Diaguandri (Ray Gateway).
3. Study the Unknown Artifacts, Barnacles, and Meta-Alloys and theorize their meaning, purpose or functionality. Much of this discussion has mainly taken place in this seperate topic linked here.Since the bulk of the information I've obtained has come from that topic, I have to give full credit of most of my knowledge pertaining to the Unknown Artifact to Arcanonn and the participants of that topic. Also, don't make comments in a role-play fashion in that topic. It's cool here, but not in that thread.

  • Unknown artifacts are quite numerous at this point. Despite their abundance, black market selling prices are high for UAs.
  • Nearly all UAs are pointing toward Merope in the Pleiades Nebula. They're also only found in systems that are 135 ly to 150 ly from Merope, in a shell-like, spherical region of space around Merope.
  • UAs scan approaching ships.
  • UAs emit a signal that carries information about details of scanned ships and the names of the nearest stations.
  • The purpose of the UAs is still up in the air. Some suggest they're recon intelligence for an invasion force. Some believe them to be harmless. The Knights' official stance at this point is one of caution.
  • Again, almost all of this information is from the group called the Canonn, who freely share their knowledge of the UAs with whole community.
  • The Canonn are to be considered as friends. Their work has been of great value to all explorers.
  • Over a couple of days I've acquired quite a bit of UA footage. As far as I could tell, there was nothing new or out of the ordinary in any of these encounters. This is just straight up footage for anyone to check out if they're interested. The footage is available below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-b4sT8uoms&list=PLuq8vnTVVtulZoFRUafre_tg1ZqKDrgfm&index=19

  • Also, to any Knights near 64 Arietis, I have to announce that Weyn Dock at the moment isn't offering black market services, refueling, repairing, rearming, or outfitting.
  • Also seems that Gaiman Dock in 49 Arietis is down now, as well.
  • Due to the continuance of station malfunctions and shutdowns due to the black market sells of the Unknown Artefacts, we are no longer collecting and selling Unknown Artefacts. Only collect them and search for them to study. Do not bring them to a station or sell them.
  • Currently, if any other stations in the three galactic capitals (Sol, Achenar, and Alioth) begin to malfunction and shut down, we will begin patrols in those critical systems to help identify those commanders who are illegally and selfishly selling UAs to stations in order to profit or cause damage for political means.
  • Extensive exploration efforts are under way in the Pleiades Nebula, more specifically Maia and Merope. No one knows for sure what exactly they're looking for, but with the UAs all pointing to Merope, it is believed something of significance is somewhere in or near Merope.
  • Search efforts are stepping up in the Pleiades Nebula after developer confirmation that barnacles are in the game and that Pleiades is a good place to look.
  • Maia and Merope seem to be the best place to look (highest chance of finding barnacles and meta alloys).
  • Report findings of significance here in this thread. Feel free to share with the Canonn, as well.
  • Remember our intent is not to find and kill aliens. It's to find alien life, study it, and determine its potential threats and benefits to humanity. Only engage in hostilities in self defense against an imminent threat.
  • Let's find the barnacles before the Canonn. It would raise our profile and show that the Canonn aren't the only ones who can make breakthrough discoveries. A little friendly competition while also cooperating ;)
  • Maia B1BA and Pleione 6 are planetary bodies believed to have Barnacles. Pleione 6 is currently thought to be the most likely to have Barnacles.
  • Beware other Commanders- many explorers are reportedly being targeted in the Pleiades.
  • The Knights will be releasing a GalNet article concerning our military response to the attacks against explorers in the Pleiades. I will also seek to make this a player created Community Goal. This may take 2 or 3 days to get off the ground.
4. Search and keep an eye out for other kinds of artifacts and items, and missions and GalNet articles involving such items, especially if they're of an alien nature. Also watch out for AI Artifacts.
  • Concerning AI Artifacts- Old stories suggest a possibility in the existence of Artificial Intelligence operating of it's own free-will somewhere in the black. So, Aliens aren't the only enemies you might one day find out there somewhere....
  • Missions for Elite ranked players are now available (since 1.3). Sometimes these missions have interesting stories and involve finding or delivering exotic items. Also look out for for Galnet Articles and missions related to exotic items. Links to images taken of such missions and items are available below, thanks to the efforts of the people in the Soontill Relics thread:

5. Keep an eye out for any information related to the disappearance of Starship One and the Highliner Antares.
  • Rumors abound pertaining to the disappearance of the Federation President's ship. The search that took place many months ago turned up mostly empty. The most likely scenarios seem to either be a legit malfunction, or sabotage by a political entity, according to Federation authorities. Just be on the lookout for further information on Starship One, especially local news articles in the varying systems. If this does turn out to be due to alien interference, it will be of the utmost importance for us. More information will be posted if relevant to our group.
  • As of 22/11/15, some commanders are still searching off and on for SS1, especially in and around Merope (there is believed to be a connection between the UAs and SS1's disappearance.... this can neither be confirmed or denied at this point).
  • If you find an extremely large area of wreckage in a Signal Source, study it to see if it is indeed a capital class ship. If it can be determined that the wreckage does belong to capital ship, then you may have found SS1. Be sure to report this to the Knights as soon as possible with screenshots and/or videos as evidence of your discovery.
  • Currently we can put the search for SS1 on the back burner. Keep your eyes peeled, but this mission is perhaps of the least importance at the moment.
  • After studying a wealth of information, I am confident that not only is Starship One is somewhere in the game universe, but also the Skyliner Antares. I am currently unsure where they would be exactly, but searching in systems around Sirius and 78 Ursae Majoris may be most likely to yield some kind of results.
  • For a more in-depth analysis, you should read this thread here.
  • GalNet Articles will be submitted soon to announce the resurgence of SS1's and the Antares searches
  • Sign up for SEARCH FOR THE HIGHLINER ANTARES at Davy Dock, Procyon System (which is located near Sol). Note that no Knight is required to do this Community Goal, but at the moment I see it as our most important short-term goal. If we can finish this CG before the time runs out in 2 weeks from today (12/23/15) we may able to learn what happened to it 50 years ago, which might provide insight into what happened to StarShip One earlier this year.
  • Warning: In the Saktsak System there is a war taking place.
  • The following systems are most likely to turn up Salvageable Wreckage related to the Antares CG
    • Wise 0855-0714
    • Alpha Centari
    • Epsilon Indi
    • Talta
    • Luhman 16
    • Rigga
    • Wise 1639-6847
    • Luyten 205-128
  • We are waiting for Sirius Corp to release the results of the wreckage analysed.
  • Article to be proposed to GalNet from the Knights concerning the Antares CG and renewed search efforts in the Pleiades.

  • More information will be posted when available.

6. Discuss if the Knights of the Black should have a "home system" and, if so, which home system should we claim as our own.

  • No home system or bases of operations chosen yet.
  • Discuss the pros and cons of having an in-game minor faction.
  • Using Diaguandri as a sub-base of operations toward the UA shell.
  • Lord Strategists will be surveying systems that are candidates for a home system and sub-bases. Candidates being currently considered include: Lakho, Kupana, Cerritics, Nu Kuang, HIP 36485, HIP 10322, Chuanabosso, Luvalla, and Idini.

If you're interested in joining the Knights of the Black, just make a post saying you want to join and give your in-game commander name. If you want a specific position within the group, browse the available positions at the bottom of this post in the CURRENTLY RECRUITING section.

I'll update this OP with new information pretty regularly. Again, giving your in-game commander name is optional, and you're not required to play with other members of the group at this time. You could say this is more of a PVE group than PVP, but it's not strictly one or the other.

So, who's interested?

UPDATE: Also, non-members who are considering joining this group are encouraged to discuss the group, ask questions, and offer information. I'm really wanting to create a group that doesn't feel like its run by a single person. I think the group will be a better group if all members feel a sense of belonging and ownership. I know all the guidelines may seem like a lot, but again, they're not set in stone. The group will adapt according to its members' will and experiences. By all means, don't feel too pressured at the prospect of joining. And always feel free to voice your opinions regarding the Knights of the Black.

Here are some signature pictures I made for members of the group to use. They're not mandatory to use at all. Only use them if you want to. Also, I set the size of the signature pictures so that (according to the forum rules) you can still add one line of text with the picture (like in my signature).

And whether you use the sig pics or not, everyone is welcome to voice their opinions about them. I do plan on making more sig pics in more variety eventually. New sig pics will be made with voiced opinions and suggestions in mind.

Hope you like 'em!

Hi Love the idea of ET and I hope we get several races of ET's. With this one hope, That we don't end up with ET's looking like a jellyfish with a belly button as a mouth :)

Not to demean anyone else's contributions, but you've been of immense help Spruxxx. jpinkston has also been pretty active, and CMDR Corlas just gave me an idea for a big opportunity for us. The next couple of days are going to be interesting if everything falls into place ;)

No worries at all JPW, thank YOU for founding an extremely interesting and open group. The foundations are strong ;)

I checked out Pleione 6 last night. While unfortunately I have not sighted any barnacles as of yet, it is a beautiful green colour with the reflections from the main star. I suspect it is made of cheese :D Be warned, cheese-based lifeforms may exist there!!

And Red D2 Pacca, as mentioned on chat, thanks for again for sorting out the TS, you rock :)

Reports of attacks in the Pleiades is timely - unfortunately I discovered this first hand last night and was going to raise the issue myself. After spending a couple of evenings scanning Maia, Merope and Pleione, I returned to Obsidian Orbital. To find a well known player killer sitting outside the entrance in a Federal Corvette attacking anyone who approached. I managed to boost in, but badly damaged. He then followed me in and rammed my ship as I tried to land, destroying it, and I lost all my cartographic data. I'm not much of a PvPer so it's not like I would win, but nonetheless I'm now thinking my decision to leave my FAS back in Sirius space was possibly a mistake, and perhaps I should retrieve it. Defence of exploration ships and the areas around Obsidian Orbital is going to rapidly become an issue.

I don't have a problem with pirates in principle (there are those who do it properly and those who don't), as it brings a much needed element of interest to the game. And PvPers who attack combat ships is one thing, but this guy and others like him attack players that they know can't defend themselves - exploration ships, new players in Sidewinders etc. That's just cowardice if you ask me, and their purpose is to prevent others enjoying the game.

Therefore, even though I know it won't make any difference, I reported him. Feel free to tell me if you think that was an over-reaction, but as I say, in practice I doubt it will matter. I await your collective thoughts about how we respond to such people and sincerely hope that a united front with the Canonn, Mercs etc will win the day...anyway, back to more exploration, stay safe out there!

I started checking out Pleione 6 today and I can see why so many would consider it a good candidate as a barnacle home world. The mist released from the silicon geysers gives the planet at least somewhat of an atmosphere near the surface of the planet. What better for barnacles to feed upon, right? :D

As far as the CG I had planned: I noticed in GalNet today where the Pioneer's Cooperative announced it's goals and allies. If I had known that sooner, I may have taken my idea for the CG straight to the Pioneer's Coop. But, they encourage all types of players to join and participate, including pirates. Considering that it's pretty much neutral, I wouldn't expect them to back our CG. Other factions haven't expressed any interest in the proposed CG, either. So I'm going to throw together a local GalNet article tonight, discussing the chaos in the Pleiades for explorers and what we intend to do in response. Considering that it's going to be a local article, we're almost guaranteed to get it published at Obsidian Orbital.

I'll continue discussing the CG I proposed here . If it does happen, it'll probably be a few more days before I even know whether it'll be accepted and promoted by FD. In the meantime, we'll just offer help to other explorers (independent and groups alike). I'll certainly be capable of watching someone's back since I have a Clipper armed to the teeth :D

And as you said concerning pirating, I have nothing against it either. But I think it goes beyond piracy when players target unarmed explorers who have no valuable cargo or bounties. At that point, we're just talking about players targeting easy, non-profitable commanders. Even in Open Mode, I believe such explorers shouldn't have to be constantly concerned about being attacked for the hell of it. It obviously slows efforts of exploration groups and individuals, and makes the game a pain for the newbies. It's in that vein I intend to deliver some type of justice and piece of mind in the region. No, there's not many of us, but maybe others will follow suit.

As far as reporting PKers, you're right that it'll make little difference. But I'm not going to tell you not to report someone who you feel should be reported. That's a personal decision we each have to make depending on the circumstances. At the end of the day, though, Frontier is cool with all types of gameplay, including PKing. I remember there were a couple of players stalking about Sag A* killing explorers for the hell of it. The only way that was resolved was by players taking the initiative to go to Sag A* armed to the teeth and kill those PKers. It was even lauded in the global GalNet. And, ultimately, I think that's how Frontier wants issues like that to be handled. So, the only way to combat the misdeeds in the Pleiades is to raise awareness and literally fight back.

Anyways, that's it for my ramblings on that :D In other news:

CMDR Spruxxx is now a Lord Strategist and Expedition Commander. He and Lord Strategist jpinkston70 will be involved intimately with Mission #6. I wish them the best of luck in fulfilling their duties, and they, as always, can come to me any time they need help with their duties. Congratulations to you two, and thanks for your help!

OP has been updated, specifically Mission #6 and a new "Positions Filled" subsection so Knights can easily see who has which positions.

I'm also still considering what title to give myself. Simply "Leader" sounds too cult like lol But I'm reluctant to go with the more obvious "Lord Commander" due its strong connection with Game of Thrones lore. A few I'm considering are Lord Admiral, Lord Consul, Commander-in-Chief, Lord Founder, and Chief Advocate.

OP UPDATED: Mission #5 updated. GalNet Article released concerning the results of the Antares CG search.

More information to come!!!! And thanks to all of you for contributions to the group and our discussions :)

UPDATE:

GalNet Article proposed here. If accepted, jpinkston70 and Spruxxx will be responsible for relaying information to me concerning explorers who contact them asking for protection.

Hi guys, I'd like to officially apply to be one of your explores, reporting any findings back to the Knights first..

With all the Buzz going on right now and getting my ship blown to pieces I'm going to set off on my own little hunt.. I'm going to start heading to the Eskimo nebula, that also has a black hole in it like Maia and i think this could be key.. I think this is a good candidate to start searching further out, any Knights are welcome to join me, hoping to make it there Sunday night.

As I'm sure you all know, the barnacles have been found. I just went to Merope 5c and confirmed their existence personally. If you're interested in seeing them, they have a fixed location on Merope 5c at -26.3515, -156.4056. The OP will be updated soon.

Our GalNet article still hasnt been published so it might be another day or two before we know if it will be published.

Also, GalNet reported that Obsidian Orbital in Maia received a transmission from n unknown location 23 light year away from Maia. The message is missing parts to it (another clue/puzzle to figure out). The message is as follows:

B?n?r? ??a??t L??27??3 ??n? 9???

The Canonn believes the message basically says:

Binary Planet: Lat 27.?3, Long 9?.??

And so the mystery continues...

OP UPDATED: Missions updates and new Information in Green text.

Consider yourself an Expedition Commander :) Thanks for your help!

And it definitely won't hurt to have Knights search other Nebulae. I think the barnacles are supposed to be throughout the galaxy, concentrated in some Nebulae.

Fly safe out there.

There seems to be some speculation that the symbol on the barnacle is Barnard's Loop. I can see what people mean myself, but what do others think?

It does remind me of Barnard's Loop. But what in the hell is waiting in Barnard's Loop? Why are we being drawn to all these places by these creatures? Quite an elaborate show to get us from point a to b to c to.... and I'm loving it :D Don't get me wrong. This whole UA and barnacle thing worries me. Someone is calling, and we're answering the phone.

I've been working on a logo for the Knights. I can't say why there's urgency to get a logo made, but I had to act. While I don't have much time to hear all possible criticisms, I do want to give you guys some time check out new logos I'm making and let me know what you honestly think.

Anyways, here's my first attempts:

Here, we have a typical shield emblem seen on family and royal crests. In the top left white field are the three Elite Rank emblems for Exploration, Trade, and Combat, to represent the eventual necessity of all roles for the Knights to become the best it can be. In the top right black field are 5 stars; 1 red for the Federation; 1 blue for the Empire; 1 green for the Alliance; 1 yellow for the various independent systems in human space; 1 black for the lawless, untouched stars in the black that wait to be explored. In the bottom left black field is an eye, with a sunrise visible in the pupil to represent our sense of exploration and watchfulness over all we see. In the bottom right white field is a ringed planet symbolizing our wonder at the universe.

I'm not sure which emblem looks best, though. I'll probably put together a couple more but this all I got ATM. Let me know what you guys think.

These alien artifacts, in conjunction with the Barnacles, looks very suspicious. Very similar to the some kind of the mining facility. Perhaps these meta alloys are going to be used to produce Thargoids ships for a new invasion and revenge. I believe that in such moments, we need to try investigate such artefacts as much as possible and to strengthen the boundaries of our space.
Mark my words, Thargoids are definitely going to come back.
Count me in, Commanders.

It's been a while since I've chimed in here, as I was busy both with RL and getting ready for the Distant Worlds expedition, which I am taking part in. Alongside the rest of the expedition I left the bubble yesterday and am currently approaching the Lagoon nebula, with the final goal of reaching Beagle point - 65,000ly from home. I will be keeping my eyes open for anything artificial, yet not man-made, and can keep you guys updated on my progress if you like. I'll hop onto your TS at some point to say hi, need to get back to work atm :)

Looks like the corrupted message led to more Barnacles on Pleiades Sector JC-U B3-2. I am not sure what comes next as the UA Thread is growing out of control at the moment and I cannot keep up :). However I am very tempted to take my Python to Barnard's Loop and start looking around.

Edit: OK so I definitely am going to head over to Barnard's Loop this weekend once I have stopped by Merope 5C to take a look at the Barnacles there. Maybe see some of you out there :).
