April Alpha

I just don't have any strong feelings about any of these topics discussed here.

You have 18 posts in this thread, another 23 in other threads discussing the same topic and you don't have any strong feelings? If that's truly the case then why not state your position and then leave it alone, rather than repeating yourself and trying to convince everyone who feels differently that they're wrong? And then telling someone else to stop repeating their view - "Just give it up. We know you're disappointed since delay of beta. Saying same thing trough different ways, using cynical tone, doesn't help anyone, you included."... hmmm.

Because while I don't feel strongly about subjects, I feel strongly about spreading false claims using emotions as justification.

You are right, I should leave this alone, I don't expect change anyone's opinion, I just waste my time with this. But that's my weakness I guess.

It's not going to happen though, is it? I'd be amazed if more than a trickle of people bought into the alpha at this late stage.
Why should they? After all, the insurance thing is no big deal, right? And alpha testing is so arduous isn't it?

Perhaps those in beta might feel a little out of sorts about being arm-twisted to stump up ££££s or else be forced to wait while those ahead of them get access to the build they thought they'd already pledged for?

Exactly ;)

If they choose to see it in that way, yeah. I would personally prefer that FD go the extra mile to make every effort to ensure that the beta is playable. Beta access won't be worth much if you're sat watching the spinning orange ship of doom for the first week.

Well that's what I pledged for. At beta level.

In just the same way that alpha pledgers went for alpha level.

I don't need or want to have prem beta delayed as a 'favour' to me, which of course it isn't.

It's treating beta backers fairly poorly I think, and that's all.

Judging from the alpha forum, many people won't see it that way.

Well I disagree. I think they're interested in making sure the beta is as playable as possible. You're free to see it whatever way you wish, obviously :)

Are you suggesting that if YOU were a beta backer, YOU wouldn't be hacked off?

I don't think this would have been much of an issue had it been known before hand (Alpha's getting early access to Beta), But it wasn't ... It was thrown at us yesterday .. over a year after I paid my £100 for premium Beta ... and it really isn't a thank you to testers as I could (if I could afford it) pay £100 and with no testing done what so ever and get the same perks as an Alpha who has been testing since Dec 20 2013 ... it IS however, a reward for paying £200 ..

@Rog ... just noticed you might have to fix you sig to say "'β comes when α is finished (with it).' :D

I would be hacked off, I was hacked off yesterday for you guys when I read it. I've been looking forward to the beta guys coming on board and getting at this game to spread the word.

But I can see what Frontier are doing with regard to keeping the Alpha process in place because the game isn't far enough along to say its functionally complete and ready for the Beta process to begin independently. Beta is still about to start, your still going to be playing Elite within a few weeks! Nothing has changed in that regard you just won't be submitted to the very unstable early first builds of large new components that tend to break the entire game sometimes.

I guess if I were in Beta I'd take a few deep breaths and realise that I'm still getting what I signed up for. The game to play test after the Alpha process has completed, just that some of the Alpha testing must continue while I'm play testing the slightly more stable build. At no point when I originally backed the Beta process (before I upgraded to Alpha) did I think I'd be getting big chunks of new CORE functionality added after the alpha process, did you?

Lets just get on with enjoying seeing a new Elite game made

I don't see a problem - alpha access backers got what they paid for - earlier access for testing the product for £200, versus beta backers who get access a little later for £100. I see no issue at all with alpha backers having beta access also. You get what you paid for, and rightly so.

That´s so condescending it´s borderline with trolling...

You get what you pay for, true indeed, but when Beta backers are told (only Yesterday) that the Beta access is going to take that little bit longer because of some kind of contrived reward excuse .. come on, Of course Alpha players will get Beta Access ... that's a given ... and if you for one second think that Beta backers believed that they would have "Exclusive" access to Beta over the Alpha peep's you would be very wrong ... what I find unacceptable is the fact that I found out (Yesterday) that Alpha peep's would be playing what I pledged for before me, I got ticked off ... as did others .. and I feel we have a right to feel aggrieved...

Why did you think that the Beta build wouldn't have gone through Alpha first though? Surely you thought that the Beta was what we are currently Alpha testing and you do some serious play testing on that now?
