Horizons I "May" Have Found A Barnacle - SRV Destroyed in the Process

Hi everyone! So about 35 minutes ago I was doing what hundreds of players have been doing ever since Horizons came out, I was exploring the Pleides Nebula with an ASP Explorer and an SRV looking for Barnacles or other signs of alien structures. After landing on Pleione 6, which is the 5th world I've explored so far, I found two data points and was going towards what looked like another; the radar signature was taller than what other structures usually are though. Anyway, after nearing to a point where I could actually make out a definite non-natural structure (Can't really specify on details, it looked somewhat like one of the spires in the video, but I can't say for sure), something very strange happened. With no warning whatsoever, my SRV going 40 kph with full shields and 77% hull health exploded. There were nothing on the minimap when it happened, no grey dots, no yellow dots, nothing. There was no projectile, and nothing to suggest any hostiles in the area. Now, while I wasn't able to record the coordinates of where my SRV was, I can say that when I returned to my ship it was in orbit of the planet at the coordinates:

-28.2180
-114.4000

I'm not sure what significance these coordinates have in comparison to where my SRV was, but it's all I have to give. The first data point I found (and where my ship was landed) was a white pole with a long orange cap on the top surrounded by a few buildings. If you find a data point that looks like a white and and red sphere in the ground (the second data point I found), you should be able to go by heading 205 (90% sure on that number) or follow the tall signatures on the radar to get to the point where I was destroyed.

Also please let me know if anyone else has experienced this weird exploding SRV thing - it could just be a glitch and what I found could have been a crashed ship, but for now I'll get another SRV and see what I can find myself.

-Cheers! :D

I'm jumping into Pleione as we speak, ready to investigate. I was on my way to grab an Advanced Discovery Scanner but it can wait. Besides, I can land on Pleione 6 without it just fine.

Dammit, just when I leave to outfit a new ship. Well I just finished so I'll be heading to Obsidian to dock and then I'll make my way to the coordinates you listed.

It was the dark side of the planet, the area was relatively flat with no significant craters, mountains or other landmarks. I was able to go in between all 3 points at full speed in the SRV without any trouble. I used the first POI as a landing point.

Maybe not.... Game said needs to update... What sort of Pandora s box had been opened?

Was your ship in orbit relatively close to where you landed?

The ship dismissed itself as I got farther away from it, although being at the coordinates above at the moment, I can say for sure that this is near to where I was. I'll see if I can find my landing point or my SRV wreck.

For confirmation, you can just see the sun rising or setting right?

Yes, very bright, medium sized, and blue. Although it was a bit higher when I was first there, that may just be because of the time passing.

I've been looking around but no dice. 2 data points found but no description matching it. And a bunch of sentries guarding gold and stuff. I landed in nearly the exact area you said.

Fuel was at about 45% when the SRV was destroyed, I got the 50% warning when I left the previous world.

I'm still looking as well. It is a bit strange actually how many POIs this world has, considering how far away from heavily inhabited space it is. None of the other worlds I visited had them in this density.

try these coords: 34.0431, -118.2672

Should that first number be a negative? We're already right around that area.

Are u sure about coordinates -28.2180 -114.4000? the area is near a crater and it's not very flat...

We found a massive wreck at coords: -28.1850 -114.4930
There was nothing there that could have destroyed an SRV that quickly though, and that signature is actually a lot larger than what I saw.

That's where I landed and I didn't see anything of the like from the ground. From the air yes there are some landmarks that I missed.

Exploding For-No-Good-Reason SRV's unfortunately sounds like a known reported multiple times bug. I sure do hope that FD fixes this one, because I'm planning to only bring one with me on the Distant Worlds expedition. Would hate to revert past Sagittarius A* just for a SRV.

In-game bugs doesn't make hunting any easier.

Good luck hunting :)
