Regarding those ticket seats, does anyone know what stadium they were for? And where in the stands they were situated?
Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Coords: 34.0431 N, -118.2672 W (just to avoid confusions, W is negative)
Game: LA Kings vs Blue Jackets

Happy page 200!!

Still no Barnacles :(

No but the Hind nebula is very pretty (No barnacles either, just small moons with no misty canyons)

You can see a Tea factory on the other side of the canyon

Do we have the seat numbers? Or nope.jpg. I wonder where the seats reside withing the stadium itself.

... As if there is some sort of bug that makes you ctd when RNGesus comes up with a barnacle POI. ...
I hope this isn't related to a possible developers' typo. This bug report (warning, spoilerish) says that it's fixed but my filesystem disagrees.

In other news, I spent my lunch break flying low over the huge crater on Maia B2b that faces B2ba. (Prime viewing target from a hypothetical base on the moon.) Nothing interesting, though I did notice that even from 2km altitude it's practically impossible to spot spawned POIs. I couldn't visually identify a fairly large site until almost when the skimmers were in targeting range! Finding these guys by sight might not be possible even with a very limited search space.

Seats 5 and 6

They are on the center line of rink, about half way up in the Premium section (What the PR5 stand for)

I though maybe a crater looks like a stadium so they are half way up the side?

Fearless and no sense of humor...are Thargoids German?

That explains morse proficiency.
They were here all along...

More likely due to the subdermal translators we all have implanted? Anyhow... After 3 days of combing moons in the neb, I headed to Taygeta. I know Taygeta is abit off the nebula but it's really pretty I found, so.... purple.

Do we know what the different mist colors mean? I'm on a planet with yellow mist right now but I've seen red and green mist on other planets... does one have more organic compounds than another?

If the mist is vapour, then it's due to the colour of the ambient environment - I.e. the surface colour. What you're seeing is not green dust, say, but green light reflected from the surface and then refracting through the vapour - thus making the vapour appear green.

I realise I'm catching up here and appear to be a few pages behind. Just responding to stuff in case nobody else has!

Re: "obvious when you think about it" explanation for Barnacles being in Nebulae:

Barnacles are filter feeders so this might suggest that the in-game Barnacles "live" by/for filtering the gasses of the Nebula itself since they are found on air-less planets.

If so, does this give us any clue as to their most likely locations? Perhaps on the outer-most planets of a system?

No, not gases in my opinion - the gases are boring - the 'stuff' you see in the nebula clouds is dust (well, a bit more complicated than that) and will/should harbour heavier elements - including *cough* metals.

Alright lunch break over, heading back to work.

Careful at Obsidian.. not sure what is going on with the system but it is pretty much a warzone. I got interdicted twice on the way over to the station, once the creeper threw me into the star right after jumping in the system. There are also active firefights going on within the no-fire zone between commanders and really pesky NPCs who officially declared open season on all the explorers.

If you're unarmed you better be good on the controls.

out.

You may actually be right on the warzone bit. When I was there earlier, I heard some NPC's spouting war rhetoric. Barnacle Hunt Base Camp could become a battlefront before we know it.

I've built a bomb shelter out of tinfoil and been sitting in it and have come up with a theory. If you aren't wearing tinfoil skip this post now. Preferably wear double wrapped tinfoil should be worn.

What if the UAs aren't from the same aliens as the barnacles *cough* thargoid ships *cough*. The UAs are trying to find the thargoid ships to destroy/damage and the meta-alloy is from damaged thargoid ships. It explains why the UAs are around the nebula as they want to spot any thargoids getting out (Remember their FSD aren't what they used to be thanks to the mycoid virus hence the UA shell being 15 LY thick). The barnacles would be either downed thargoid ships or hiding thargoid ships.
We need to go deeper.

What about Pallin? He suddenly decides to research UAs again after having his first program shut down? That man is shady and I think the UA research is a front. He is tied to the Federation and I think they have found a barnacle on Maia B 1 B which is literally a stone's throw from B1BA.

Get it? The thrown stone would keep floating until it got there because of Newtonian physics. I digress.

Assuming the barnacle is a thargoid ships The Feds want to get their hands on it because Thargoid tech is light years ahead of ours. You can't chop up a giant ship and fly it out a piece at a time to the bubble as that kind of traffic would get noticed/scanned but you could make a base that is next door to it and quite easily transport pieces there. You have the "guise" of UA research to cover up your research so any traffic too and from wouldn't draw as much attention. You also wouldn't want to put the base where the barnacle is (both before and after construction)... you'd draw too much attention to it.

tl:dr UAs are a net to spot any thargoid ships (which are barnacle shaped). Thargoid ships are hiding/shot down by whoever controls the UAs (possibly another race that can use witchspace as the goids do). The Feds have found a barnacle/thargoid ship on Maia B1B and are using pallin's base as a front so they can covertly study the barnacle without attracting attention to themselves.

I complained to my woman when she gave me a wool winter hat. I said I preferred it to be tinfoil. Whereupon she left me... and I blamed it on the aliens.

More seriously... with tinfoil hat on... I suspect once these meta-alloys are figured out... it'll be utilized in construction of anti-Thargoid weaponry. Imagine meta-alloy cannon and multi-cannon shells. Nice! It'll almost be like shooting poop or dead enemies back at your enemies.

I believe what you're looking at there is what we've called "purrs" they come in high/low patterns. When sped up they sound like a brass instrument (trombone). We've tried turning the high/low into binary to retrieve a message, but nothing has come of it.

I believe I have heard those purrs. Can you please point me to some recordings I can compare to tonight? My original thought was the pulsation would increase/decrease based on proximity to something rather than another coded message

When I was there last night while sitting in dock, the station when from yellow to green for me, and from Ant Hill Boys aligned to Federation, bug?

Is the color of the mist different from that of the sun + planet color?

I've found numerous craters with fog/mist and the fog all matched the color of the sun, and the planet. For example, Blue star, blue mist. Red star, red mist. etc...

If this isn't the case, it would be curious.

One thing that might be worth looking at is the planets that have an almost grass-like or alternate color to some of the canyons.

Yeah, this may be the case... The yellow mist is around a little red dwarf so I suppose it could be putting out a yellowish light... although it looks like more of a red color.

What faction? When I was heading into one of the rocky-ice moons in Maia last night, I was jumped by some Ant Hill (I think) NPC's in a SS just 20 km from the surface. I figured it was because I had some salvaged gold on me, but they attacked pretty quick and I don't recall a scan. Some Hagglebeard's Heroes NPCs then jumped in just as I was jumping out.

Could one of Maia's factions be in league (or a front) with some other organization, and are upset at our searching? Isn't the outpost near the black hole in Maia an Ant Hill Mob base? Maybe we should sack it.

So if a FD dev tweets that he has to go to the can, are we going to try to locate the coords of the can in question?

You guys are all way overthinking this hunt :p
My bet is the CMDR who finds one first will just stumble upon it randomly without any theory/science made to get there.
