The next update 2.1 Engineers (1.6 to basegame-only owners) scheduled for April release?

We're just taking some extra time with the 2.1 release to ensure that we're happy with it, rather than push it out sooner.

Can you speak to any plans to release game-fix related patches in the interim? There are some pretty serious issues with ship AI (Scan-N-Ram, Sit-N-Spin) along with missions that can't be completed, BGS problems and the like that really need some attention before June...

If you'd have told us that in the last newsletter or a forum post that would be totally fine and acceptable imo, I really have no problems with that.
However, what does grind my gears is that you keep quiet and only admit it when its leaked out.

I'm sorry, but c'mon man we, your loyal fans deserve better treatment than that. Just be up front and honest, if there's going to be a delay, so be it. no big issue. Stop giving us the mushroom treatment please!

I'm happy for them to take the time to put quality before meeting a deadline. It's a hard decision to take, especially when it will impact financials, but it's the right one, and one that many on the forum have been saying should have been taken for earlier releases. I hope nobody at FDEV will be negatively impacted by this.

I would like to point out that two additional months is not exactly "some extra time", it is serious delay and makes me wonder how it will impact rest of Horizons. As for EDH bookkeeping magic - whatever makes accountants happy :)

So can you Michael confirm that Engineers will come *after* May 31st? That's all we need to know.

We have to communicate this news to the city first - it hasn't 'leaked' we announced our decision.

The trolls are going to love this. how will this effect the roll-out of season 2? will you cram the other 3 updates into 2016 or are we looking at season 2 extending into 2017, or worst of all will season 2 be cut short?

Now curious about the situation with the Beta for Engineers.

Also, it means a sales push during the month No Man's Sky is supposed to drop. Can't tell if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Since there was no official release date to this update, I don't take it as a delay. I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed with this development though. I was really looking forward to this one.

Uh, that's indeed a serious delay... if we can expect 2.1 to not be released before June, I wonder, how they are planning to squeeze the other 3 major updates into the rest of the year without delaying 3.0 into 2017.

Will this mean smaller parts of the 2.1 update will come out same time as 2.1?

i.e. Class 3/4 multi-cannons, major fixes etc will release alongside 2.1 or will those sub features be released sooner?

Legally, the market has to know first. If Frontier were to pass this info on to fans first, they would be able to sell their Frontier stock (if they anticipated any fall in the share price). Investors would not have this info (as they probably don't read the weekly newsletter) and therefore be placed at an unfair disadvantage. This is why the market has to be informed first (and insider trading laws exist).

I fully expect this week's newsletter to have addressed this, even without it being posted here.
