The next update 2.1 Engineers (1.6 to basegame-only owners) scheduled for April release?

This may be common knowledge for people in the UK, but is completely puzzling to me as an outsider - why do you have to tell the city (Which I may interprete as a synonym for the ministry of finance?) before anyone else? And what is stopping anyone from telling them first, then 5 minutes later the customers? :D

"City" as in "City of London" as in Stock Market - shareholders require to be told first.

I have to say I'm a bit disappointed about this delay, though I understand the reasons behind it.

Could FD let us know if there are to be any patch fixes due in the meantime - the broken missions have been around since Horizons beta.

Like others I'd be keen to know how FD see the rest of the Horizons updates panning out after this delay.

Thanks

We'll disable some of the missions server side as a temporary measure and the next planned client release is 2.1/1.6.

I knew there was more to that worried look on Todd the engineers face he knew all along.
The man was like, "I ain't got no hair, I ain't got no lower half of my body. They said, 'Smile Tod.' I would if I could, but the code for smilling hasn't been written yet."

:p

We're just taking some extra time with the 2.1 release to ensure that we're happy with it, rather than push it out sooner.

Michael

Good to hear :)

Could we have some sort of clarification of approximate release times in the next newsletter? The investors announcement has set the cat amongst the forum pigeons somewhat and it would be good to know whether this means 2.1 is officially delayed until June 2016 or later. Most of us expected it would be released a little earlier than that.

Not to take away from 2.1 for PC but what would this mean regarding Horizons for Xbox One? Is the delay in 2.1 going to cause a domino effect and delay the Horizons release for the Xbox platform?

Oh, and before anyone tries to put words into my mouth or the like, I'm glad that FDev will realise when they need to delay to improve something before it's released. I'd sooner have delays than be given a broken product with the promise of it being fixed after release.

Should give Todd enough time to grow some hair.

Thats it! Engineers will now have hair..... Available on the webshop soon 'Virtual' shampoo and hair colouring goods.

I must talk to Ed about an exclusive hair care product range..... We will 'clean up' :D

Can't miss what I never had in the first place.

A few months is not long in software development. Take your time, get it right, despite the tantrums we'll still be here!

So notify the Market at the same time as the customer base. With the stock exchange so well protected on its very fast financial connections. No customer would be able to offload shares quicker than a shareholder whose shares are managed on the Exchange. Delays in notifying customers in favour of shareholders can leave a nasty taste that can affect share prices from falling sales due to poor reputations.
We (the customers) were notified the very same day. I wouldn't exactly call that a delay, would you?

They couldn't tell us any sooner that this - it couldn't have been in last weeks newsletter because they hadn't even told their shareholders or the stock exchange yet.

Should give Todd enough time to grow some hair.
Unfortunately it might not be on his head...

I will make an educated guess that 2.1 Engineers will drop for both Windows and XBO at some time. It might be even reason for delay.

This thread will explode with no further information

Do you know this term?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kremlinology

Kremlinology is the study and analysis of the politics and policies of Russia, while the term Sovietology means the study of politics and policies of the Soviet Union and former communist states more general. These two terms were synonymous until the dissolution of the Soviet Union. In popular culture, the term is sometimes used to mean any attempt to understand a secretive organization or process, such as plans for upcoming products or events, by interpreting indirect clues

SC ... they show just the opposite behavior compared to Frontier. Roberts is consantly yelling to market without any content finished. The Frontierguys are just being silent like the KGB.

Thanks to Michael Brooks, give us some information. I hope they don´t blame you as a Traitor and send you to siberia.

By the way, I don´t need the hair.

We're not announcing a date yet.

I suspect that 2.1's changes to missions and the loot/crafting system will add the much needed meat of gameplay depth to the grindy bun that Elite can become.

If FDev need a few more weeks to get that burger sizzling and moist, then I'm more than happy to wait.

What does this mean for Dev updates? I miss the weekly speculation fest, and we were just about to get to the most interesting one! (Rewards)

Will this impact the future updates this season? Might these be pushed back into next year? (I personally will be outraged if we don't get "whatever we were going to get" in 2.4!)

On the plus side.. I guess that answers my question of whether to keep following the Distant Worlds or turn back after reaching Sag A*. Onwards ho...

If someone can supply a Stock Exchange legal ruling reference link that shows that all shareholders, viz The London Stock Exchange, or Company practices Law that definitely state that what posters here are calling a legal requirement, and whether, if it even exists, notifying Shareholders and customers at the same time is not legal I will bow to their superior knowledge. Otherwise it is just forum jabber.
I have to wonder if the OP had not found this little snippet how long before we would have been notified of the delay, after all FD don't exactly have a shining light when it comes to notifying customers until they are questioned.
