But undergraduate philosophising is so lovely. C'mon, no need to get involved. ;)

I know right, the undergraduates I TA for as an undergraduate at a graduate level of study are such lovely people, it pains me when I have to take points away from their tests.

Oh that's an interesting angle. As a wolfberg vet I wouldn't mind finding out who of the old crowd might have been behind this.

Ive been banned enough even i know better than to rattle that cage. But like i said its easy to find. There were some very distraught and vocal players that were obsessed with a way to get even. Hell there were even threads where people were going to flood them with suicide ships thinking that would somehow get traders through the blockades by wasting their time. They were hell bent on tilting at windmills it was quite amusing.

You're posting a lot for someone who's no longer here.

Maybe Dogon just plays the forum game now?

ED is such a great game that it offers people 5 modes of play: Open, PG, Solo, CQC, and Forum (for those who are scared of Carebears' awesome BGS skilz).:D

You forgot CQC.
And tbh, in my experience, carebears are way more dangerous at forum PvP.

Havent been here for months either. Ill poke the antisocial from time to time but these forums dont hold much content either.

And yet, here we all are going for 50 pages.:D

In best Bill Clinton voice: "I am NOT here."

There's the kernel. I already said I'm not going to block you, and you're not the only one with academic interests. Instead of pulling you up on your typos when grammar, as opposed to semantics, is my own preference, I'm going to accept that, as usual, you've been tailoring your troll on a user-by-user basis. Ergo, I am merely responding to this post in order to state one thing: this is ELITE, not CoD. Most of us can read, I'm sure a large proportion of us are postgraduates or at least academically-minded, so using straw men and arguing trifling points of obfuscation are hardly going to wash over in the long run. I'll continue to read your posts, and I have stated, because half the time you talk sense, but I'll stop replying to them after this if you'd prefer me to, as it seems your replies would infer.

You don't need an academic license to be an intellectual. You don't need to read to be literate. I resent being considered "at least" academically minded.

*stamps feet*

I specifically remember day one them saying they wouldnt care, and wouldnt defend it.

They were given Orrerre after they had spent a lot of effort building a pirate controlled multi-system region in that area. The press releases, GalNet stories etc from last year are still available. Even though player-factions weren't coded in-game yet Code worked hard (to their credit) to be included in the game lore. So you're right about the specifics of having a station, but that came after months of work into the roleplay. So they were interested in roleplay but not the BGS? Those things are inseparable.

Getting in-game factions just came long after release, when Code was already diminished. Although... Code had expanded into multiple systems which makes it unlikely that nobody was working on it.

If those Code left only care about PVP then this doesn't affect them and good for them! But the evidence is there (despite protestations) that the organisation worked hard previously to impact that region of space, a distant memory now lost in the PVP and griefing debate that they largely contributed to.

You know, even in the 18th century, piracy wasn't a viable career path as such, at least not for the vast majority.
In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, pirates off the coast of Somalia are hunted down by whichever navy gets there first.

It seems that in the 32nd century, it's already more viable than it ever was in RL, otherwise you'd have Farraguts and Majestics tripping over each other to kill you all off.

And as for the Code, well.. as Captain Barbossa said in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl; "...And thirdly, the code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules."

In the real world piracy is usually pursued by the powerless against the powerful, its developed the other way around in ED which hasn't done either side any good.

So brilliant idea for some 'emergent gameplay'... The Code take back their home system, flying just eagles and sidwinders in open of course, then everyone and his granny can go PvP with them without the usual river of tears. Might even become the 'Savior' of open.

Code wasnt at all diminished at the time. There was hardly a thread that didnt cry about them during that time.

You can insist they cared about the bgs at one point, but it doesnt make it so. They were very vocal about not caring from the start and the only people who cant wrap their heads around that seemed desperate to inflict some sort of damage but we all know pvp wasnt on the table. Hell the people im talking about that probably did this and very vocally promoted it, never even played open. Thats how big of a boogey man they were... forum warriors absolutely indignant that this group would openly blackade a system or cg, but never in any danger of meeting a code member or being blockaded.

So is it surprising people want to insist that code secretly do care and that this is victory? Lol no. In a way they did win i guess, instead of fighting back they whimpered and hid and the game was boring again, and here we are, shocked that somebody ground down a bgs faction that nobody cares about.

This actually is a really interesting idea. Problem is, according to their statements, they 1) don't care and 2) have moved on to other games (both fine by me, BTW), so I don't expect they'll be interested. However, if they're as good at PvP as they claim, a wing of eagles should be able to take out any Carebear opposition, right?

Lets see....

You quit playing this game, but find it necessary to come to community forums to belittle or name call people because they choose not to play in open.....

LOL

Proving that "Forum" mode is still alive and harder to quit than the others.
