No motivation to go on.

It's quite laughable that the top tip of the day is: Go back to a small ship!

Yes folks, you grinded your legs off doing 1,000s of hrs of trading and missions only to have to ditch the one goal you had, just so a few billionaires can get they're jollies!

Well played FD, your hard work is going down a treat (oh and the "too hard" % is catching up to the "GG challenge crew" - Here's a challenge, play with one hand, no joystick and a bag on yer head! ;) xxx).

That's just not hardcore enough for this snowflake - I only engage these puny NPCs with my little finger on a broken mouse and keyboard, whilst setting fire to myself, calculating numerical integrals in my head and working the stock market on the phone. It's the only way I feel challenged enough to enjoy gaming, which, as everyone knows, isn't supposed to be entertaining.

I sympathise. I would move over to Reddit if I were you, seriously. It's more constructive and intelligent over there than on these boreds. (sic)

All you get on these boards is fanboys, who genuinely think they are actual starship pilots, telling players they should:

1) grow up
2) stop grinding
3) 'play the game' (yawn)
4) etc.

You get the idea.. And then you get founders like me, who get so irritable with the sanctimonious attitude of the fanboys, that I get a bit defensive of genuine posts, and I get called a troll.

Can't win.

p.s. Please feel free to add my little list of unconstructive and predictable fanboys comments above..

I have seen some of your posts and "intelligent" is not a word that comes to mind.

what has become apparent is a awful lot of players have been taking it easy either trading or combat in solo for the last year and a half and now they are being asked to use their brains in combat NPC and they are clearly incapable of doing so you reap the rewards of playing so safe that you learned nothing about combat and when or where to engage in it absolutley NO SYMPATHY

I have absolutely no idea how capable all these people on the internet are. How do you know? I'm literally amazed how you know this. Do you work for Facebook or something and have access to all the profiled accounts?

Only read page one of this and there seem to be at least two players who need to file a bug report because for some reason they can't change ships...

Radio Chatter - Excellent. Significantly increases the feeling of immersion and realism.

Avatars - Kills the sense of immersion and feels like you're playing a console game.

This!
But i have to admit that this is mainly FDEV's fault. you can't give sweets to a child and then suddenly take them away. of course there will be tears..

Beginner! I do all that while composing posts on how y'all need to "git gud" and play in Open like real men! And I do all that with one hand 'cause I'm....nevermind.[haha]

Thanks OP! This is a great thread. Added a couple to my "ignore" list. Always happy to update the I-list.

i look at the amount of players yapping on here about a NPC AI thats how i know next lame question

What does that have to do with it? I can show you how to fly a real airplane, vomit bag not included ;)

I can see your point. But I could point out that Elite has navies rather than air forces. Admittedly there is no water in space for a navy, but similarly there is no air for an air force either. So I think navy experience is a better analogue.

Anyway, there are clearly a lot of tensions within the game - I can see that some people want to play hardcore - but there are many who just want to do some gaming. (There is another large and influential group who just want to escape from it all and go exploring.)

Now, I can see and understand the conflict between these player groups - it is a predictable effect of a 'carve your own furrow' philosophy in a game that fundamentally has no story.

Personally, my gripe is with the 'snowflake', not hard enough heh?, 'lazy', comments - a kind of schoolboy response - almost always from the hardcore players.

But that's just me.

Why don't you hardcore players simply form a group where you thrash each other in space?

I might be the minority but I honestly think now the games is starting to live up to its name. Couldn't be happier.

Whether this is good or bad to FD finances this is an entirely different point altogether...

indeed it is a problem but so many players have took the easy routes that they have got so used to that route when asked to change they are incapble of doing so some of us predicted this response long before the AI was improved i spent 5 hours today in HAZ RES with no problems but then i took open play and combat seriously from the start

I would not mind slow incremental improvements over a long period of time. But what we got with 2.1 was sand kicked in our faces for being loyal customers.

Easy.....'cause they don't want a real fight. Ironic how if someone says anything close to "the new AI is too difficult," the above referenced type players jump all over them, but they don't want to fight each other..........it's too hard. They want to beat up on players that aren't interested in/prepared/equiped for combat.

Of course, I'm glad you said it rather than me - I was tempted to say it myself, but thought I'd stand back a little after all the flak I'm getting..

Nothing to stop them meeting up at Nav Beacon's and shooting each other - nothing at all (although they might have a problem with being constantly sniped by Elite Sidewinders.)
