I was predicting the » I am a game developer, <INSERT ANYTHING HERE>. « card was going to be played!

LOL!! yeah, every script kiddie thinks they're programmers :D

That is why they have the CryEngine Wiz in Frankfurt, I am impressed with those guys as they literally took the engine apart and put it back together for Star Citizens needs. The Alpha has already a number of features thought impossible by lesser developers. I am really looking forward to the stuff they put in next.

LMAO!!! You actually wrote that - all of that - with a straight face.

like a game

:D :D :D :D :D

I CAN'T BREATHE!!!

I'm going to guess you're not involved in software development. Do you understand the definition of Alpha as it applies to development?

:D :D :D :D

Stop! You are killing me!!!

Christ Roberts touches cryengine and breaks it COMPLETELY then hires the persons who created cryengine to try to fix it and they can't!

Now tell me if that isn't quite the achievement!

Wow. And you call us cultists.

Quick, hand check!

You're right. That's because it's still a glorified CryEngine mod aka tech demo and nowhere near being called an alpha

And once again, I have to remind people what an ALPHA (1, 2) is in software development. As it stands, Star Citizen doesn’t even have 10% of it’s features in place.

Star Citizen, in its current state, is NOT an alpha. It is a glorified proof-of-concept (aka tech demo).

Nicely put, you are in fact agreeing with what I said before. FPS mechanics are in the game and in active development. Feel free to look up the video I linked earlier which shows FPS armor and weapons for sale, which are also functional and in the game. :)

Star Marine was intended as nothing more then a test bed for the mechanics of a FPS game. As the baby persistent universe is coming along nicely it made more sense to focus development on this part and integrate the mechanics, which CIG did. I am sure Star Marine will be released at some point but it was never intended as more than an alternative game mode for quick testing FPS. For Star Citizen this mode is a not even a secondary concern. A tertiary one perhaps.

No, I am not.

The FPS currently in the PU is NOT what Star Marine was promised to be.

Nice try.

Just like the technology doesn't exist for seamless planetary transition, right?

I suppose it's impossible in No Man's Sky, too, right? Or Infinity: Battlescape?

Right Derek. Your elite programmer credentials are holding up real well here.

Actually I wrote it with a smile on my face and some coffee on my table. It has become so easy to counter feeble attempts to spread misinformation. :)

You quoted me before I corrected it. They opened F42-GER in Aug 2014 if you can believe that.

Actually you were nice enough find an article which directly confirms what I said before. I consider this an endorsement of my point of view. [big grin]

I'll do you one better.

CIG opened the German office with some CryTek devs in Aug 2014. I wrote an entire blog about it.

Wrong, Early 2015 they settled in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yisaDxvBH9s

Can you at least see any potential talent in that video?
I dunno maybe someone that might do things with CryEngine that you normally wouldn't see in other games?

Or are they just untalented hacks playing with cryengine scripts for the sake of selling jpegs?

I fail to see your point.

A feature that doesn't exist in Star Citizen, has no basis in a discussion about another game. Let alone mine.

Star Citizen does not have planets, let alone seamless planetary transitions as discussed in the image you posted.

LOD does not have seamless space<->planets, because i) it doesn't use procedurally generated planets like my previous games ii) the planetary scenes are hand crafted iii) the game is scene based for performance and connectivity. As explained in this dev blog. LOD doesn't need seamless space<->planetary transitions because it adds nothing to the game, nor does it have any implications.

FYI LOD does have planets.

I'm not the one building a dream based on fideliteh. I'm building a game.

Both Battlescape Infinity and NMS which have PC planets, don't have hand crafted scenes.

Take it easy...can't you see that he is the new in here as well?By "judging" it his words until now....he seems 2 me like a one more very unhappy CIG customer.....

If he was an unhappy customer, I'd be alright with it. A lot of folks have unrealistic expectations to game development, an CIG has not managed those expectations well from the start.

But, if I were to judge, I'd assume he's never played the game, and is a hate-bandwagoner.

So all the work they did prior to Star Citizen doesn't count humm...

That's a bit disrespectful remark if I may say so.

Not at all. I have a great deal of respect for everyone who has worked on Star Citizen - and their hard work is easily evident. It's their leadership that needs inspection and critique.
